Good Points: Modern hotel, big clean rooms, nice buffet breakfast.

Bad Points: Late night music from bar opposite, distance from centre.

General comments: The Vila Gale Hotel is located approx 18 minutes walk from the centre and 25 minutes from the beach. It is downhill walk to get to Cascais on cobbled pavements and an uphill walk back- so it is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The rooms are large modern and clean and the bathroom is top notch. There is a television but unfortunately no kettle so you cannot make any tea. The bar area and lounge is very comfortable and drinks are only slightly more expensive than in the town. The buffet style breakfast has a vast choice and the cold items are excellent. However the scrambled eggs were really not to my liking and the small frankfurter sausages didn't taste of much. One only toaster so expect to queue for it. The swimming pool was a very nice and quiet as there were no children at the hotel when we stayed. Our room overlooked the car park with created a little noise but the worst aspect was the live music pummeling from the bar opposite until 1.30 in the morning 5 nights a week. It did keep us awake unless we had a good few drinks. The staff were generally highly efficient, some being friendly and others were robotic but always polite.
