I have been a Costco member since 2005 and have a yearly spend in the region of £2500, the membership fee is soon repaid with good value shopping. You cannot better the food section - all the meats are top quality. Sometimes I find white & brown goods cheaper on the net but prefer to buy at Costco due to their superb no-quibble returns policy and additional benefits like free extended warranties. Wines & spirits can sometimes be found cheaper but most of the time they are better priced so I don't waste time trying to save the odd penny trudging supermarkets. Remember on food and household items you are buying in bulk so you need a decent freezer and storage. At the Derby store I find the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable and no I do not and never have worked for them.

Costco is Brilliant. You couldn't get absolutely everything there, but what they have is generally superb value. All the big manufacturer's/brands are there. Fantastic customer services. The TV I bought there was £120 cheaper than anywhere on the High Street or web. And it's not even an expensive one to start with. And it includes a 5 year warranty FREE. None of this buy the extended warranty you get browbeaten into at Comet or Currys ets.- Read kstar's review (93 words)

I shop at Costco about once every other month. I stock up on meat, cleaning products and drinks. It's excellent value. The meat is priced at a similar level to Sainsbury's, but much better quality. It's often better quality than what you get from the butcher, but obviously not as flexible as your local butcher would be. The minced beef is actually proper meat, not a load of gristle. The fish is always wonderful, particularly the salmon. If you have a big freezer they sell high quality frozen foo ...- Read sweedie71's review (371 words)

Beyond the unpleasant experience associated with bad customer service and poor queuing at checkout, there is the membership dues to deal with. I have found Costco to be less expensive in some no VAT items. The problem is these items are mostly commodities and there price and mark-ups,in general, are minimal when compared to VAT items. Unlike other stores, you have to make up the membership before you can come out ahead. This means finding numerous items-not one or even a few-on a constant basis ...- Read larrysm's review (199 words)

I think Costco have some really good deals and its great you can buy in bulk very ideal for parties etc! All the food is nice! Especially the birthday cakes you get a really really big cake just for a tenner which i think is a really good bargain! Theres always staff around and usually some staff with a little display offering you little nibbles to try what they have in store! The queues are never that long! They also have a little cafe where you can get hot and cold food which is really nice an ...- Read chez18's review (132 words)

In general all Costcos are the same. You love them or you hate them. I am the latter. There plenty like me, but you wouldn't know it from all the pro Costco reviews around the internet. Most are done by their employees, who are constantly posting positive reviews about their employer (Hell of a Job). This Costco has very little in the way of customer service and product selection (the norm). The lines are long because only a handful of registers are open. I heard this done on purpose to create t ...- Read maggiepi's review (147 words and 2 comments)

Pretty much like any costco anywhere USA to me. Limited selections of low end brand names that are often discontinued models( electrics especially ). If there is a product you like, it might not be there the next time. I read an article that suggested that people like this treasure hunt atmosphere and it's interesting. Will I don't consider hunting for shampoo, etc pleasurable Prices are always fluctuating so you can really be taken. Besides that there are long lines since few registers are open ...- Read sus10's review (110 words)

I shop at Costco every now and again, and in fact if I had my own card I would probably be here a lot more often. We got some great deals on meat, fish and things like tea and coffee. A common criticism, which I share is that some prices are actually not as cheap and I find wine for example not much cheaper (if at all sometimes). But if you pick the right things and keep an eye out on the VAT, you can pick up some great stuff here at great prices. Recommended.- Read Black Ghost 7's review (117 words)
