I ordered a bath panel which claimed to be adjustable it was in fact in 2 parts and was therefore unsuitable. I was advised I could return it if I organised the courier which i duly did, and paid for; then......nothing. On he 18th of January I placed an order for bedroom furniture, on the same day i received a confirmation email saying my delivery would be on the 29th January. I don't agree with MFI blaming the credit crunch for this situation as I feel it has very little to do with that. I purchase my kitchen and bedroom furniture in May 2007 fitted in June 2007 and still not finished yet. I felt as though they were full of promises that were never fulfilled.
In my opinion, CUSTOMER CARE or lack of it was the sole problem with the way this company traded and poor supervision of the tradesmen fitting out is the primary companies problems.

Ordered bathroom on 7/9/08 from Barnstaple store as they said they would match internet price. Arrange delivery for 18th November. Had phone call from Marktwo on 12th to say bathroom wouldn't be delivered until further notice. Barnstaple store closed down 2 weeks ago and Exeter has taken on customers. Order a kitchen in Sep 08. I am still waiting for delivery despite the old one being ripped out by MFI fitters on 29 Oct 08. I am currently looking at legal action to recover any cost incurred by myself. Don't go it alone use the Furniture Ombudsman 08701 620690 and lets hit them where it hurts. (read more)

On the 24 th July we agreed to purchase a dining rom table from MFI a Segensworth in Hampshire, we were quoted 8 weeks.
A week before the delivery we recieved a phone call advising that he delivery was nw out ntil te 11th November.
On the 11th November 2008 we ge a call asking for am pm delivery, we chose am delivery and sure enough some little obnoxious rude cretin turned up with the chairs and no table.

When we were invoiced there were a number of items missing on the order, and was told that there were items that we didn't need on the initial invoice. I would not buy a kitchen from MFI ever again. Delivery took longer than stated and it was just a standard kitchen. Delivery arrived damaged with items missing. The store staff are very helpful, if there has been delivery problems its not their fault, they are salesmen, however they go out of their way to help you as best the company's system will allow them. I've had deliveries of a Bathroom and bedroom in the past, not 1 item missing, not 1 item damaged. When i got my kitchen, bearing in mind there was 67 boxes i found 1 item to be missing, I contacted their call centre and they got the item re-delivered. People only usually write on these sites... My wife and I choose fitted bedroom furniture for our son. MFI came out to our home a measured up which allowed us to choose the units we wanted. We paid £950 for various items. Delivery from MFI disappointing, never turned up on three occasions!
I found Customer Services to be far from being helpful, seemingly willing to offer no good will gesture for all the inconvenience caused.
Service in the store very good, product very good, delivery to timescales disappointing as they sub contract and no one appears to manage this.

delivery from MFI took longer than it should have. one of my bunkers was damaged so i had to wait for another one to come. It is still lying in my hall and no one has came back to fit the new one yet. When I phone up MFI they keep telling me that someone will be coming out but not one has appeared so far! Having read quite a few poor reviews on MFI, i feel it is my duty to tell of some good. All too often we are quick to complain but never compliment. So to all in the Rochdale area, if you need a new kitchen or bedroom, pop into the MFI store. I've had a bad experience with MFI before when i did my sons room up and I didn't receive any fixtures and fittings for his furniture, i decided to give them another chance. However three months later I'm still waiting on cabinet doors and every time i ring customer services they seem to never have any sufficient answers. We bought new bedroom furniture from our some from them, it was delivered on time but 2 items were missing. When we went to put together the remaining items the instructions seemed to be completely wrong, the wardrobe doors didn't fit properly and the underbed storage had a whole drawer missing. Having decided it was time to redo the kitchen, we spent quite some time looking at what was available before deciding to try MFI. We had heard both good and bad things about MFI so we were a little apprehensive, but decided to give them a go anyway.
I'm glad we did, because in store the salesperson was incredibly helpful and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need, only listened to what it was that we were after. We even had a chance to see a digital plan of what our kitchen would...

I was disappointed with customer service, when I phoned to check my delivery time I was told my address had been changed to another part of the country and someone had done this with my details. The assistant seemed not to believe it was not me that changed it.
They would not accept that this was their mistake and I was told that there was no point in speaking to a manager as they could not help.
I have to then arrange another day off and rearrange my appointments.
I will never buy anything...

I have used MFI for a number of years. I have moved house a few times and always get my furniture from them. Especially when they do deals for the fitted stuff, bedroom, kitchen etc.
To be honest I have never really had any problems that I would not expect from any job or supplier.
Items delivered over couple days instead of all at once but that was nothing to write home about.
The fitting work is always excellent and the design process I find helps me to maximise my spaces.

Bought a bathroom from MFI 2 years ago for over £1700, I believe it is now substandard - shower bath distorted and leaks toilet has a hair line crack - took out their insurance and I feel as though its not worth the paper its printed on. They have however kindly replaced the bath with a completely different size and shape which now means the tiles don't fit - no shower for us! nor does the flooring both of which I didn't intend renewing within 2 years. Personally, I'd never buy anything from them again. My kitchen was 9 weeks later in being finished, the refund i managed to get is now nearly 4 weeks late in coming and one of the members of staff i dealt with was rude and uhelpful. (read more)

Ordered a wardrobe from MFI - sliding doors it was £275 in sale, down from £600 - quality wise - i'd say it was worth about £25. The flat pack instructions made no sense, the coded key for screws did not match the codes in the instructions to build the thing. Once I finally got the thing together it rattled like a drunk on a sunday morning. had a kitchen fitted and supplied by MFI less than a year ago but it has started to fall apart. have got 2 years insurance with mfi only the kitchen has been discontinued. First ordered a bed frame from MFI in February 2008 - finally got it delivered in May after many unsuccessful delivery attempts including them trying to deliver only half of the frame. When the whole frame finally arrived it was not the frame I wanted. I think their customer service seems non existent. I wrote a letter of complaint and have just received a call from MFI but they seemed extremely defensive and patronising to me. I will never step foot in their door again!

ordered fitted wardrobes and chests of drawers which were all deliverd on the day specified, plus we were given a number to phone 48 hours before to confirm an am or pm time slot, ours were delivered within our allocated time slot by 2 very pleasant men who carried it all upstairs for us. The fitters have let us down time and time again and it is week 4 now without a kitchen as it has been started but not finished. Long story but I feel I am being kept in the dark.

My two experiences with MFI have been excellent. In the last two years I have had a full kitchen and new main bedroom fitted. Everything was delivered when said and nothing was missing or damaged. The installers and the fitting was superb.
I have heard all sorts of people complain about MFI, including my sister but me personally have never had a problem with them.
One happy customer.

MFI was one of the worst companies overall i have ever dealt with! The staff in store are great when you first enter the store and pay for your goods. I've had a kitchen and bedroom fitted. They sent and charged me for too many items, all items i needed didn't arrive. I don't think they are very professional at all.
Overall, very poor service and even worse after care, I will not be buying from MFI again and would never recommend them to anyone!

the date for my kitchen to be fitted was the 19th May, the fitting should have taken a week, the kitchen is fitted but there are a list of things that have not been finished. It is now July 11th and although MFI have ordered parts needed to complete the unfinished job as of yet I have not received a date for completion. I feel that perhaps MFI should vet their sub-contractors more carefully as this experience has taken the pleasure out of having a new kitchen fitted. (read more)

Good grief - I wish I'd read these reviews before buying a kitchen and bookcase from MFI. I paid for the bookcase last October and had half of it delivered in April only to be told the 2nd half would be with me end of June - to cut a long story short involving many phone calls, being told different things by different staff and waiting in for deliveries, I'm now told it's discontinued and I can have a refund - but not till they have collected the half they'd already delivered as I was... Disgusting service at MFI Customer Services. Delivery of kitchen furniture should have been between 8am till 1pm. The driver showed up early. But would you believe they are going to charge us £50 for a redelivery!! The MFI Customer Care is a joke. I will never ever use MFI again. (read more)

All i can say is that when i have visited Magnet and Focus i have found the experience easy - straight forward and the staff wanting to sell with honest advice. I have £10,000 readies going begging and MFI have missed out by a mile. I dare not spend money there on the basis that if i cannot get a price and design easily then how can i trust i will receive my kitchen!!!!! (read more)

Where do I start, I bought my kitchen from MFI in August 2007 it is now 22/6/08 and it is still not finished. I think their customer service is terrible.
Overall, lack of communication in my experience, lack of follow up even after the Installation manager visited. Having said that the actual kitchen is fine but I would never have MFI install again.

It has taken us three years to have our bathroom installed properly. It has been a nightmare of stress, stress and more stress trying to contact and get after sales service from mfi. We have spent £4,500 and have not received a penny in compensation for all the stress and inconvenience suffered. When these people have got your money, forget customer service. (read more)

We spent £1500 on MFI bedroom furniture. Right at the end of putting it together I''ve come to putting on the door handles. So ok, each door has nifty little guide holes that you drill, so I though great I don't have to measure. I came to drilling the door for the connecting unit and I can't find the corresponding handle to match the width of these holes. After Sales Service is poor, 26 store visits/phone calls to get faulty oven replaced. Can't even get anyone to inspect faulty bath, they are refusing to exchange because notification was after 72 hours despite consumer protection and advice. When my kitchen finally arrived 17 items were missing, didn't find out until that day........it took another 3 deliveries (over a space of a month) and two more extra fitting days to get it completed.....not to mention the several phone calls a day tring to sort it all out, as no one was ever available to talk to you, or more often than not it wasn't their dept

We bought a kitchen (had several in the past), packaging arrived torn, goods inside were badly damaged, corners missing and fixtures and fittings packs were incomplete. The quality control in our experince was very poor and some packaging contained the wrong panels. Things would have to improve considerably before we buy anything else from MFI and would have to be convinced that quality had improved. (read more)

All these comments surprise me. I have been dealing with MFI for a long time. I can proudly say, my furniture brands are MFI owned and they've always stood the test of time. The best customer service. Delivery may not always turn up as expected but it's good value for my money. B & Q, Magnet, Ikea, Homebase and many others will all fail tests for delivery, customer service and especially quality. (read more)
