Good Points: Compatibility with all older Pentax bayonet mount lenses (which are v cheap second-hand) Highly accurate metering, deals with difficult lighting well and has spot metering - produces well-exposed photos. Light and compact.
Bad Points: Slightly low on features compared to Canon and Nikon products in same price bracket No provision for power winder, so stuck with 2 fps wind. No PC socket - need flash hotshoe adapter. Difficult to use exposure lock if you view with left eye (it is located close to the right hand side of the viewfinder).
General comments: The Pentax MZ-3 Date is a very good 35mm SLR camera- compact, easy to use and has excellent metering and good autofocus. Perhaps a little basic compared to similarly priced cameras, but all important features are catered for. Produces consistently good results, perhaps money saved on features was spent on high-quality components?
Would recommend, although MZ-5N is cheap now it's being discontinued - MZ-3 appears to be rebadged MZ-5N with slightly improved metering and faster max shutter speed (1/4000 compared to 1/2000).

In my opinion this camera proves that there are more quality brands than canon and nikon, it's a wonderful
camera.
