My husband and I took my mother in law and her friend - both in their 80's -to Dickens World. We found it extremely interesting, especially if you knew Dickens' works. We found it quite authentic and enjoyed all aspects of it. We did not find the prices in the shops over-expensive and the only criticism we found was that there were not more characters walking round in costume. We did have a couple of long chats with the character Mr Brownlow from Oliver who we found very pleasant and informative to talk to. Did feel that it was not suitable for children who had not read any of Dickens books as it would not mean anything to them.
Overall we found it to be a good experience.

We drove from Bath to this 'attraction'. It's a good idea that has been very badly executed. The 'film set' within which the activities take place is quirky and convincing, & the ten minute 4D film is good. Little else is worthwhile. The actors who perform the short dramas are unconvincing & mime scripts to a tape recording. The boat ride is tame, predictable & accompanied by a drab recording by an inexpressive, talentless actor. Many things do not work. Much space is given over to selling ...- Read Guest's review (110 words)

I am 65 and I went to Dickens World today with my 8 year old Grandson and really enjoyed the day. I found all the facilities offered were working and all the staff very helpful.Even the food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. My Grandson was just as impressed as I was and asked to return before Christmas.Compared with the exhorbitant prices paid at so called Adventure Parks this was all round a good day and value for money- Read Chris Howland's review (81 words)

Dickens World should be called Victorian world. When it opened staff were told not to be Dickens characters, just Victorian. Many changes since but not enough. Worth a fiver but no more.- Read Guest's review (32 words)

Dickens World, Chatam...I'm very sad to read such negative reviews about this super attraction. I took my 12 year old son and my 60 yr old parents and we all had a super day. You enter a well built detailed set of houses & courtyard. The boat ride is fun especially if you take a good look around you. The reenactments in the courtyard are probably too complicated for younger children but we enjoyed them. It helps to know the works of Dickens to get the most from this attraction. The theatre was e ...- Read maxineT's review (131 words)

The reviews I read about Dickens world were quite poor. but I took my kids and went with friends and we truely had a real good laugh! I was expecting it to be all over and done with in 10mins. but we watched a couple of plays and a brief film about Dicken's life in 4D and had coffee in the sandwich bar..which was pleasent. I think a day out like this is down to the individual really and its what you make it. dont expect too much, its not the london dungeons so nothing spooky about it. The boat ...- Read Guest's review (121 words)

Review of Dickens world
This attraction is a waste of time and money. We had vouchers for 20 per cent off the entrance fee and still considered that we had been ripped off. We were a family of five and were frankly at a loss to find enough to do to last even for a couple of hours. Half of the amenities appeared to be out of order, the boat ride was frankly laughable and all roads led to the courtyard, where some embarrassed looking people in Dickensian costume were trying to persuade young peo ...- Read Guest's review (118 words)

Having read rather negative reviews, we approached our visit to Dickens World with some caution. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Staff were welcoming, attractions were fun, and it was overall excellent value for money. We even purchased Dickens World caps for only 99p!
The design was astounding, we really felt as if we were back in Dickensian London. The ride was a particular highlight. We chose to ride three times!
Overall, Dickens World is an educational and fun day out for all ages (w ...- Read Guest's review (94 words)

I posted an honest review of this place soon after it opened. I thought the place very poor value for money, in fact I was so annoyed at the money that I wasted I made a formal complaint to trading standards.(Fobbed off). I was in the area last week so decided to take another look. Little has changed (except fewer staff) and although there are more "attracrions" open they are really rubbish.- Read Guest's review (171 words)

The brochure for Dickens World promsied "the day out of a lifetime". Well, I have quite a few days out in my lifetime and I have to say that this one is not up there with the most memorable, well, not for the right reasons anyway.Boring, pointless, badly organised are a few words that spring to mind. Dickens world has missed a great opportunity to provide an insight into the work of the great man, but sadly seems to have been covered in confusion as to what it wanted to achieve. The result, an " ...- Read Guest's review (110 words)

We were planning to go to Dickens World this half term, but were almost put off by the negative comments on both this and other online review sites. We did however decide to go and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, my 12 year old son insisted that we write an online review of our own.- Read Guest's review (103 words)

We were planning to visit Dickens World during the half term holidays, but having read the online reviews we were almost put off going. We did however decide to go and had a great time. In fact my 12 year old son insisted that we write our own review as a result.
We thought the setting was excellent, very realistic and really makes you feel that you are in Dickensian London. The boat ride was our favourite experience,. There were no queues and we enjoyed it so much we went on it twice. My son a ...- Read Guest's review (158 words)

I went with my aunty, uncle and my little sister (who is 11) to Dickens world. . . I thought It was really good. . . Some of the comments on here don't really do it justice at all. . .
The setting and atmosphere were great. . . We didn't eat there though. . . but there looked like a good choice of meals on the actual menu. . . My favourite part was the boat ride, there was no queue and we got straight on. . and very wet! My sister enjoyed it so much, she went on it twice. The hauted house was g ...- Read ZoRo12345's review (151 words)

Had such a laugh at Dickens World earlier in the week and will definitely go back. It was a little quiet as it was a weekday but this meant my wife and I didnt have to queue to go on the boat which we loved. This also meant we could explore the simply incredible set to our hearts content, just like walking into a movie. Not sure if it's what most people think of a theme park but it is nice to see an attraction dedicated to one of our country's greatest writers, especially just down the road from ...- Read Guest's review (182 words)
