Have had a Dyson DC05 for a number of years and still functions well. However, have had to replace practically all accessories and am now on to my 3rd stair tool!

very reliable hoover had it since it first came out.bought another dyson dc11 not as good as dc05.
my husband has used this dc05 for work, he is a builder and takes this hoover to work to pick up the plaster saw dust of the joiners and bits of concrete he cant get up with a brush and shovel. he builds extensions on peoples houses, the clients usually use it to hoover the rest of their house when its there. Have to fight to get it of him,ive cleaned it all up and it has not had a new part at any ...

I have purchased 2 of these dc05 for home and business and both have had this problem at similar intervals. I have replaced the tubes on both 3 times now. Therefore this is a great design spoilt totally by a poorly designed component and I would suggest that no-one buys this product until this inherent design fault has been addressed by Dyson on their DC05 or similar vacs. I like Dyson vacuum cleaners so hope they can resolve this ongoing problem and if they do then I believe them to be the best ...

Good start for the Dyson DC05 in the first year and now going down hill. I am now using the stair tool to hoover main living areas due to the floor tool not picking up anything and keeping the suction. I feel very let down by this model! Storage a problem also - it is too big.

Any cleaner that lasts over a year in our house is amazing. We had a period of changing vacuums every 6 months because they lost suction or broke. This one has lasted around 6 years. Dyson, despite other reviews, has an amazing build quality and although the wand has broke twice 21- cheaper than a new *decent* vacuum). Dealing with customer services a delight, they just send the part-out, sent out the wrong part within warantee (hard floor adapter) but let us keep it anyway. Would never buy a ...

The Dyson DC05 is the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had. I would not recommend it.

When using the Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner, it makes you feel as if you've worked hard vacuuming, after seeing how full the bin is. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing I can say about it, as it overheats, the cable snapped, it falls apart, it won't pick up hairs, and it won't pick up must large pieces.

    Absolutely rubbish!!!

Don't buy a Dyscon DCO5. Buy another make for a third of the price and be happy. Try Panasonic.

Every bit of it has fallen apart. It is rubbish! The cord will not retract, and it is very difficult to empty the dust container. Also, the tools attached to the hose of the Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner keep falling off and the wand connectors keep breaking.

I've had a Dyson DC05 Vacuum Cleaner (the Green 'plus' model) for three years now. Whilst it performs OK as a vacuum cleaner, there are a number of irritating design and/or construction faults. Firstly, the removable parts can be annoying and difficult to remove. The dust container, for example; you spend ages trying to remove the top to empty it, then it flies off in your hand and empties the contents across your living room. The thing won't pull easily round corners (it always gets caught ...

We bought a Dyson DC05 a few years ago and very soon the cable rewind mechanism failed, allowing the cable to slowly rewind into the drum when the vacuum was in use resulting in a dangerously hot cable within the rewind mechanism. We had to fully extend the cable and put a strong peg on it to stop it rewinding itself. Eventually the cable frayed inside the drum as well, a problem noted by other reviewers on this site.

We also found the claims about bagless suction means longer lasting suction ...

I have had the Dyson DC05 for several years now and it has mostly worked well. Just recently, it stopped dead, and after surfing on the web, I found that the cable breaks inside the winding mechanism which requires taking the cleaner apart. It seems very well made and rather difficult to manage. Anyway, after reading the review from the electrical engineer who said he did it, I took it as a challenge (I'm an electrical engineer too). To get it apart you need to do the following:

    1. Remove the ...

After owing the Dyson DC05 for 3 years, the mains cable broke inside the machine. I elected to repair this myself and contacted Dyson for any information on spare parts, service instructions and special tools needed. Their reply was somewhat unhelpful!

"Thank you for your e-mail regarding your DC05 vacuum cleaner. I note your enquiry regarding replacement of the cable but must advise that Dyson Ltd are not able to release instructions on how to fit or access electrical components for use by ...

Have the Dyson DC05 model. From beginning disapointed about our great inventor Mr Dyson. There must be easy ways to get a better system to rollup the powercable!!!
For this price I expected a better solution for that specific point.
Further happy to use this machine.

Considering this Dyson DC05 is the only vaccum cleaner we have bought new I am dissapointed that it has failed allready. The main motor packed up last week, announcing its demise with a superb burning smell and groans. As this motor only provides the vaccum, I am suprised it has failed as it's hardly under much load! £50 for a new one from vaccumcleanerspares.co.uk and we should be back in business

Model Dyson DC05 with Turbo Head.

Very impressed by suction. Turbohead surprisingly effective (this is powered by airflow not a motor). The cleaner is light enough to carry in one hand as you vac using the other! Suction can be reduced to 65% when it proves to be too strong by simply pressing a trigger. Plenty of rotation available in hose and tools to achieve the correct angle, and wand telescopes very easily.

Mine is lime green and silver. You may not like this. It does not blend i ...

We have had a DC05 for nearly 3 years.
The motor went up in smoke just after a year of use, the wand handle and the extension tube have had to be replaced and now the auto cable rewind unit does not rewind.
For nearly £200 it has been a total waste of money considering out previous vacuum was an Electrolux Dolphin which we had for 12 years.
    DONT BUY ONE.....

We have had our dco5 for about 4 years. The plastic insert on the end of the steel tube broke after 6 months (replaced under warranty).

At about 18 months the hose parted company from the handle , repaired with sticky tape, it looks a mess but has lasted longer than the original.

At about 2 years the power cord stopped winding in all the way. Now the cord fails to rewind about the last 2-3 metres. The power cord insulation is now cracking at several places and is exposing the wires unde ...
