Good Points: Durable, easy to cock, priced right, powerful. this is an all day shooter from kids to adults. I killed a dove at 60 yards with a match pellet. (I have practiced out to this distance)
Bad Points: I changed the trigger to a GRT III (incredible difference). I also put a Bushnell Banner 4-12 X 40. I mounted a solid one piece scope mount as well. This became a sniper rifle when these two improvements were finished.
General comments: I tried a variety of pellets and found that flat top and domed pellets around 8 grams worked best. The PBA Raptors that came with the gun fit loose in the barrel and shot all over the target. Predators worked well. My gun prefers superdomes and match pellets. On a calm day I can (standing) shoot clover leaves out to 30 yards. The gun is very light so you must find your Happy place to be accurate. Teach safety with this gun as well as others. This is not your grandpa's BB gun.Things to remember about accuracy: 1) the wind will blow your pellet around. 2) each type of pellet may shoot different, find the one that works and buy tons of them. 3) Buy a good scope for this rifle, you will be impressed with the performance. 4) it is a light gun so practice shooting it and find a solid foundation in your stance. 5) your breath control will be noticed in your groups on the target.

For all of you obsessed with shooting 1200fps, please keep in mind that you DON'T want a pellet to travel over 1100fps....why you ask? Because that is approx. when a pellet breaks the sound barrier and when it does break the sound barrier it experiences a great deal of turbulance. This is why the Raptor ammo sucks in this gun, put the raptor ammo in a low power pellet gun and it will work much better.....Try to keep your fps around 900-1000 and you'll be very happy. I like the RWS Meisterkulg ...

It is cheap but not only that when you fire it and feel the recoil you know it has a lot of power.Another thing,if you have bad neighbors don't dry fire it or fire it without a pellet, it's going to sound like a 22!!

I bought gun for ground squirels all over the yard. I bought a wal-mart beeman 1100 first and it shot awful, barrel seemed bent. I traded out for this gun and i am amazed in the diffrence in hitting things at 50 yards. I sighted it at 17 yards out (51 feet) perfect. It also took all the pellets that the beeman would not. This list includes the crosman hollow points, shot right on. The crosman pointed, shot right on as well. It also shots the Beeman wad cutters (laser sports) but for killing I wo ...

I say find a decent type of ammo(RWS diabolo basics work for me) an only shoot those pellets and the rifle will suite you fine for plinking or varmit eradication.

Love it. I killed 2 squirrels (one was a perfect head shot and the other a lung shot so it ran about 20 ft in the tree and fell out with a thud) and 2 birds and i got it so dialed in that i let my cousin shoot and he killed a bird one shot. all that on the first day i got it with gamo match diablo 7,71gr pellets.

THE BEST THREE PELLETS FOR THIS GUN IS THE PREDITOR PELLETS, CROW MAGNUM PELLETS, AND, RAPTOR PERFORMANCE PELLETS. ALL WORK EXTREMLY WELL... TRY THEM FOR YOUR AIR RIFLE AND IF YOU CLEAN THE GUN IT WILL ALWAYS BE MORE ACCURATE.

Before you so much as put a pellet in the breach, ditch the factory scope. I never bothered to mount the stock scope because of the bad web reviews on it. Instead, I put the factory Gamo scope on a completely recoilless Daisy 853 match rifle that one-holes at 10 meters, figuring the scope couldn?t get hurt on that gun. The 853 certainly never hurt it, but the scope wouldn?t hold zero, period. Don?t plan on using this scope for any marksmanship on any gun. Give it to your kid. Tell ?em it?s ...

You'd be better off with a single shot .22 with .22 short, sub-sonic rounds. The result is a lighter weapon, much more accurate, and much quieter, also, not quite as powerful, and the combination of more accurate and a bit less powerful equals less dangerous.

The Gamo Big Cat 1200 is lightweight and very nice entry-level high-powered pellet rifle. I Bought this for my 9yr old son for Christmas. He spent approx 1 hour sighting in at 25 yards. The best group I can get is 2 inches; this was a replacement to Remington Summit that I purchase two days ago (beautiful gun and scope - to look at. I spent 2+ hours on the bench trying to sight in (no luck). The Big Cat is a simple (no frills) gun, but in my opinion it shoots a heck of a lot better than the R ...

I read a review by Mr Butler that said he didn't like the Shadow at all, and that it would not go supersonic , well I have the Shadow Sport which I think is the same power plant and mine chronoed at 1300fps for a high and 1154fps for a low, I've tried two different pellets, one being the PBA Raptor which is the pellet they recommend, but it's not the fastest pellet, I could not get it into the 1200fps bracket, but then I tried the wadcutters I had on hand and presto, constant 1200s with a high o ...

Bought this rifle at Walmart and as you can guess after shooting over 750 rounds through it I am not impressed . Can't recall in my 30+yrs. of enjoying air rifles having a rifle fail to deliver on it's promises so totally. The Daisy 22X I reviewed was and is a better gun for the money. I have nothing against Gamo my CFX is on of my go to guns but this gun is at the bottom of my collection. Looks can deceive. My advice Try CFX it's $50-$100 more but it's three times the gun. Just can't recommend ...

I bought this rifle for my grandson an he said it was one a the best rifle he ever shot so far.
He told me the handling on the rifle was great an he would definitely recommend it to a friend. An boy he could hit from near 30 yards away.
The only thing I would buy is a different scope and trigger. I say a GRT-lll trigger and a 4x12-50AO scope. I think it was good value for the money I paid for it. On his birthday I'll be sure to get him a Gamo viper cause I heard those are the best rifle. ...

This is my first try at a serious air rifle. So far I'm really impressed. Once I figured out the scope mount system for air rifles, this thing has been shooting great (overlooked that scope ring pin on the 1st try.scope slid all over the place). So far I've killed 2 ground hogs at roughly 25 yards. Plenty of power. Not real crazy about the prices which is why I went with the big cat (the cheapest in their line with any real power).

In July I bought a Crosman Quest 1000x from Dicks Sporting Goods for $105. It could plink cans but could not group the way I wanted. I returned the Quest and bought a Crosman Storm XT from Walmart for $105. A Storm XT is a Quest with a better scope. The Storm XT shot with less accuracy than the Quest. :( I returned the Storm XT and did some research and posted on forums. The Gamo Big Cat 1200 ($130) and the Beeman SS1000-S ($130) seemed to be good deals. A forum suggested a RWS 34 but it was ove ...
