A lovely service station. I stopped by chance as my baby was getting fed up of his car seat. The place has a lovely lake with wildlife that you can walk around or just look at from the cafe. The baby change facilities were nice and clean and spacious. They also provide free baby food in their cafe.
We had freshly battered fish and chips and 2 hot drinks and it came to £14. Not bad for service stations, especially as the food was hot and tasty.

As a motorway services this has to be about the best.
It's a fantastic setting overlooking a small nature reserve with at least one cormorant and a colony of water geese, as well as the usual goldeneye, mallard, coot and heron, present.
- It's ususally quiter and more relaxed than most services.
I understand it was concept-designed this way, in response to the criticism which normally is directed at service areas.
- It's a (reasonably!) well-kept secret and I for one hope it stays that way! ... (read more)

Stayed at annandale water services last year and found it very enjoyable.Nice,clean decent food oin the Restaurant.Back just now and what a transformation.After i checked in,i made my way upstairs to my room.I opened the door at the top of the stairs and was greeted with a stink like smelly feet.Then opened the door of my room and the roomhad a distinct damp musty stench.Next ight both smells are still there.As for the restaurant,its went down hill too.I arrive around 6.15 for breakfast and... Need to sort out the sloppy service area, staff were trying their best I guess, in the area available, but why was large area closed off at this busy time ? Need to clean up cafeteria sitting area if you want to "attract" customers (read more)

We stayed here at the Premier Inn at Annandale Water Services on the A74M and you can forget that you are at a motorway services! The room at the back of the hotel overlooked the large lake with a stunning backdrop of hills. There was a balcony in the room so we could sit and relax with a drink overlooking the lake, watching the geese, swans etc. The coffee shop also has a courtyard with a waterfall that overlooks the lake also. probably the best motorway services in the country and... We stopped for a break as we often do, and usually sit outside with a few coffees and have lunch on the picnic benches beside the lake. To my horror there were a very large amount of dogs faeces everywhere, even all over the path. This influenced our decision to keep going and stop at another service station. We wont be coming back again and I would advise the service provider to clean up the mess and find a way to catch those responsible for this. Letting your dog litter somewhere and not... (read more)
