I have a 4 slice Russell Hobbs glass toaster that has the same fault as the others mentioned on this site, I also stupidly purchased a matching kettle - over £100 on both products. I now find that after only 18 months the toaster has blown and the kettle has a wobbly handle which was enough cause for a product recall on some batch numbers but apparently not mine. My argument with Russell Hobbs continues - I too will NEVER buy any other product from their range of brands.

Exactly the same problem as encountered by all the others reviewers here. I just assumed that the Classic 4 Slice toaster was worn out (although we do not use very often) and typical of modern day electrical items.

Because it was Russell Hobbs, I never dreamed that this would be a general fault that they have not even bothered to advise or rectify

SHAME ON YOU RUSSELL HOBBS. Your long established name of repute is going downhill fast.

I will not be purchasing anything further with the Russe ...

the previous reviews were spot on....I had the same fault with my Russell Hobbs Classic 4 Slice toaster....when I took It apart the fault actually lay with crumbs coming between the contact points of the electromagnetic circuit breakers causing them not to have sufficient strength to hold the springs from causing the ejector mechanism to not work....easily solved by brushing the crumbs from the mechanism....obviously a design fault in the first place.....

As per the other reviews......same fault. I returned it to Russell Hobbs who said that whilst it was outside the years guarantee they couldn't solve the problem for free but were prepared to offer me a replacement at a discounted price. I stupidly agreed to this and am now going through the exact same problem with toaster number 2!!!!!

Built in obsolesence (always appear to break just after the 12 months guarantee expires!) at a time when we are being encouraged to not scrap items.......also ...

Customer services was poor rubbish - they just said they would sell me another for 1/2 price as it's outside the 1-year warranty period.

I am totally disappointed with the performance of the Russel Hobbs 4 Slice Toaster as I have owned mine for only one year and find that it continuously ejects the slices prematurly. We usually have to hold the handles down manually in order to get any sort of toast.
    Very unsatisfactory.

I will never again buy a product from this deplorable manufacturer. I can remember the days when Russell Hobbs was a respected name in the field of kitchen appliances. Oh dear! They are signing their own death warrant by making products that you can't even get repaired, never mind repair them yourself. I am totally disgusted with their total lack of environmental concern. What do they hope to gain? Does anyone know anymore sites where I can tell the truth about this shoddy product? Appalling.

Russell Hobbs is a stylish toaster for toasting proper bread. However, within a year, it was ejecting toast early or just when activated.

By end year 2, it would eject bread when started and would not toast reliably, so fell into disuse.

Has just been sent for repair to an independent repairer, who has just informed us that it is a sealed unit, Russell Hobbs do not sell spare parts, and thus is unrepairable.

    Built-in obsolesence - don't buy.
