The Simpsons Movie is a very pleasing and funny first movie for 'The Simpsons'. This movie has all of what a movie for 'The Simpsons' needs: humour, cool quotes, and a small, unintelligent family against the US government. Only bad point is on the DVD, it says, 'Homer must the entire planet from a catastrophe he himself created,' despite the fact that the biggest thing he's saving is Springfield....

One last thing that I would like to add is that the movie was more set apart from the 20 minute versions. The shorter Simpsons episodes included slapstick, snappy quotes, and hilarious scenes that are there one minute, gone the next, and don't tie in with Springfield geographically or historically. People they meet also leave the episode, die or they never meet them again. The film had very little of this. It was more of an actual story, and certainly not what I am used to as a viewer. Should...

Like the show, this movie is positive, yet unintentionally obscene. This may be good for spending time with your buddies, but DO NOT select this for family movie night (unless the kids are all teenagers/adults)!...

The Simpsons movie is funny and original from the other Simpsons Episodes. It was political as always and exposed certain flawed aspects of the american governement - while being funny about it. All in all OK, but not really what the world was ranting and raving about....

I have to agree with most of the reviews I've read about The Simpsons Movie; it is largely disappointing. Matt Groening and co have failed to transfer the 20 minute format into a feature-length film. The storyline moves slowly as it just seems they've taken a standard-length story and stretched it over 90 minutes. The concept is good, and you could just imagine it working as a 20-minute version, but I feel they should have tried going for something on a much larger scale. Also, despite the additional...

Castellaneta deserves to have his voice on the bigger screen, as it simply makes the film, and its his oafish, playful and irresponsible behaviour that is the cornerstone of all the film's great moments, the pick of which for me is the "spiderpig" song. Elsewhere, Bart's skateboard excursion with a difference is high comedy but more classic slapstick Simpsons. Marge and Lisa are pretty back-seat in this one but all in all the whole thing works and there are moments aplenty for the adults while...

Some things in life are a 100% certainty such as any shirt with a Man Utd badge selling despite being naff, any car released by BMW being applauded despite being mediocre and any thing to do with the all American Simpson family being hot property and hilarious. On this occasion Fox have disappointed with this lukewarm offering on the big screen which in no way reproduces the high quality humour we have come to expect from their 20 minute TV episodes, sometimes great expectations can lead to greater...

I accompanied two of my sons and a grandson to The Simpsons Movie, as they are all big fans of the TV show. I did not expect to enjoy myself very much, however I was quite surprised to hear myself chuckle several times and on a couple of occasions really laugh. I am sure that real Simpsons lovers will thoroughly enjoy themselves....

The Simpsons Movie was such a letdown. A few laughs spread out over 90 mins. Slow-paced & disjointed, as if they stretched out one TV episode. Very disappointing writing which is no where near the level you would normally associate with The Simpsons. Probably a better one for younger kids rather the the usual mix of humour intended for differing ages of audience. Lack of the usual characters & sets doesn't help either. If you love the TV show, you will feel pretty short-changed by this movie....

I couldn't agree more. Well, I did give it about a 5 but that was generous.

There are some decent jokes on the usual Simpsons level The Simpsons Movie does have a story running through it rather than just episodes slung together My two boys (age 8 and 6) sat through the whole film without fidgeting or going to the toilet - the first time that's happened!...

A lot of people think The Simpsons Movie will just be several episodes chucked together, fortunately the writers are intelligent enough to realise this and poke fun at it! Also the simple animation style of the TV series is transfered very well to the big screen with a little CGI help. The film is pretty funny, with lots of good jokes and a reasonable plot to carry it along. Definitely worth a watch!...
