Cut out all the chatter, all the politics and the declining number of Rescues actually posting dogs needing homes these days on Dogpages and head straight for www.dogsblog.com.

Dogsblog is a wonderful resource focused entirely on rehoming dogs. No chatter forums, no arguments, no hassle, just hundreds of dogs from hundreds of Rescues needing homes. Easy to view, use and find that perfect canine for your famil. Perfect! "Bring joy, adopt a Dog", try Dogsblog ;-)

In a few words this site is child hating, cliquey and very off putting to a first time dog owner.

The attitude of some posters is unbelievable and while you do indeed get some disagreements and cliqueyness on other sites I have never seen it to the extent it is shown on DP.

Dog Pages is a fantastic resource for dog owners, people looking for a dog, and rescues. Yes-there are cliques-there are on any website, and yes-people get banned-BUT, many of the people who claim to have been banned-were not actually banned, but put on preview-which is NOT being banned!

I've used other site-and to be honest, most just don't work for me, as a person involved in rescue. The sheer number of people who use this means I can rehome dogs faster. This means I can help rescue more dogs ...

Again, as said above, unless you agree to their views, opinions and tactics, you are very much slammed.
Have beenn a member for over 5 years and I dared last night to ask about e collars and their uses for training dogs to stay away from snakes.
My parents liven in Cyprus, and they once used a snake poison bait trap, one of their dogs sadly died eating it.
I just felt that by Lass dying this way was a darn site crueller than using a low e collar.
    Ooo how dare I?
In temper at being aggressively ...

Dogpages is aimed at those involved in rescue or those who have rescue dogs. For advice and help the members are ok but if anyone dares to criticise the forum in any way the thread is locked immediately. The author is told to move on if they are not happy when in fact criticism isn't always a bad thing.

A huge problem with the site is that most members 'baby' their dogs to varying extents. I have a dog, he is a part of our family but he is a dog and is treated as such. We choose to have him ...

On the whole Dog Pages is a good site which offers good advice. BUT I have seen at least two regular posters hounded off the forum in the last few months because they dared to voice an opinion that was not agreed with. It can be very cliquey and opinionated and the members are quick to leap to conclusions about a person when they might not know the full story.

I really like the dogpages website and forums and it does so much for rescue dogs etc. However, I have one bug bear.

They recently raised money to improve their server for the forums. They said any money raised would go towards this so you wouldn't get a 'server busy' message and members could use the search facility.

Unfortunately a few months on it seems you still cannot use the search facility unless you are a paid sponsor member or a moderator.

I think this was very misleading to the memb ...

I do not recommend Dog Pages. When I didn't do exactly as I was told I was banned without any warning yet as far as I am aware. I was a rescue who posted on a rival forum and got banned as far as I am concerned because my name was replaced with a libelous message. I was asked to donate towards running costs but no accounts will ever be made available telling me where this money has gone.

The Dog Rescue section of Dogpages has a fairly comprehensive section of Rescues and their associated dogs looking for new homes. As a result it provides quite a good snapshot of animals available for re homing up and down the country. Thus it is a good starting point for anyone interested in either finding out their nearest Rescue (although defiantly do a GOOGLE search too as Dogpages isn't quite as comprehensive as it used to be), or those at the 'nearly interested stage' and would like to see ...
