“Reliability means 3 year's life!!”

Bought it in 2009, and 3 years later the compressor has failed (diagnosed by an independent refrigeration engineer). Even if the replacement compressor was provided free, the cost of draining the coolant, replacing the compressor and recharging the system would exceed the cost of a new fridge! I can only conclude that this is the way Hotpoint can sustain a good income: either by getting the customer to pay for an extended 5 year cover (not cheap) or by designing their goods to fail.
