Bought this in 2007 and immediately had problems, the door sign kept flashing. They came to repair, but a couple of months later door sign started flashing again. For the past few years we've got by using a match stuck into the connecting prongs, so they make contact. Another disadvantage is that it is very loud when in use. We have to turn up the radio every time or else we can't hear it. Last night the oven finally went kaput and I have just rung Stoves to find out about getting it... (read more)

i bought this oven in march 2007. the genus mode is very good, it cooks food in half the time of the conventional oven. the problems are relibility. it has had numerous electronic boards. it turns it self off and will not come back on. if the oven has not been used for some time it has to be re-programmed. so the relibility it far from good. I have a 905F Great cooker when it works - PCB blew in October, still waiting for a new one, scheduled for late Feb if I'm lucky. Customer services are poor and although polite do little to resolve issues. I inadvertently ordered the wrong part, they are happy to refund(minus a £5 admin fee) but will take 3 weeks to send the address stickers by post and then another 3 from them recieving part to refund the cash by cheque! What is wrong with them? Farcical. I will never ever buy another... (read more)

This oven is completely useless. I have had it since November 1996, had everything changed 3 power supplies, 4 front pannels, door hinges, complete front oven door, new elements.
You cook in the conventional at 180 degrees it only reache 150, then it looks as though it does not know what to do as the temperature goes up and down to whatevey it wants to do, the grill comes on full, when your not around, very dangerous, turn this off from the wall is the best thing to do if your not around!...

I bought my oven in June last year and it worked well for 3 months. Since then it has had 3 new circuit boards and the grill and oven kept turning on and off even when not in use. I was told in May 2010 that they no longer made this model and would replacr it with the S7 900 MF on the 20th of July. A week before delivery they rang to say there was a delay in getting the parts and moved it to the 20th of August. By this time the grill did not work. Then once again they moved the delivery date... I bought my first Genus 900 in April 2007. It kept going wrong so was replaced by Stoves in September 2007 with an extended guarantee giving 3 years in total. The cooker has been great until Jan'10. I have had numerous service calls. The problems are not resolved. Stoves are now debating giving me a replacement. Needless to say I shall NOT be choosing a Genus 900! (read more)

Like a number of other reviewers I have had major problems with this Stoves Genus double oven. When it works it's great, but a couple of months after installation we came downstairs in the morning to discover the grill had turned itself on, there was a terrible buring smell and the oven and whole cabinet was hot. I hate to think what would have happened if we had been out. We called the engineer under warranty but had to wait nearly three weeks for a part (the circuit board I think) to... (read more)

We bought our Stoves Genus double oven when it first came out and it cost us a whopping £1,000. When it was delivered it wasn't working so Stoves replaced the whole oven 2 weeks later. Since then we have received 4 new control panels, a new grill unit for the top oven, had several other glitches and when we had a short power failure the other week the top grill turned itself on (even with the door closed) and it was only when I smelt burning and went to look that I realised this had... Our Genus 900 is effected by the slightest power supply glitch. It locks up. We need to turn the oven off at the fuse box for over an hour to reset the self test. We have had several computer boards replaced under warrantee. The local service is frustrated with this model, ours is not the only one. They can only keep changing out the boards. Now they are not even coming out to us anymore. We still have two months before our warrantee expires. We feel abandoned by Glen Dimplex. (read more)

Watch out for stoves parts policy - they make parts obsolete very quickly and then you've either got to try and scavenge for used parts or buy a new cooker. Parts are very expensive too. (read more)

I was very impressed with the full functions of the Stoves genus Electric Double oven. I love that I can cook Roasted veg or traditional roast in the fraction of the time. That you can cook a medium chicken in half an hour, now that is great for Sunday Roasts! Jacket potatoes are cooked in a fraction of the time. Cakes and other food also are accelerated meaning less time spent in the kitchen and more in the expectation and enjoyment of what is to come. its a trial and error choice on how... (read more)

Stoves genus Stainless Steel Electric Double Oven looks good and cooks well when working. Will never buy another Stoves cooker. Poor practical design and unreliable. Bad points are: Runners came apart. Ours broke down within a year of being new. Electronics problem. £ years later, same has happened and we are faced with a bill for a fault that seems to reoccur. Knobs on top melted. Anyone leaning on cooker inadvertently turns things on. (read more)

I bought a stoves genus 900 from my local retailer who got it from a local wholesaler. Although it looks nice, it broke down within six months still waiting for a part. It now transpires the cooker was over two years old when I bought it. Stoves tell me the problem is with the wholesaler. No matter what I have £760 worth of cooker that is broken and still not fixed a month later. (read more)

This cooker would be great if it actually worked. It's caused us problem after problem. The engineers have been out to us loads of times and replaced the cooker twice, and we still don't have a working cooker. I'm sick to the back teeth of it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy one of these. (read more)

I too am experiencing the same issues with this oven a "Genus Multifunction Oven 900 Stainless Steel." Every time there is a power cut or the house consumer unit trips it causes a fault with the oven requiring a change of fuse or circuit boards. Today however Tues 08th Dec we awoke to the smell of burning and on investigation discovered the kitchen full of smoke, only to find the oven was red hot including the control panel and knob, so hot in fact that it had melted the cupboard door above. The oven unit had obviously switched itself on overnight. I no longer consider this to be a normal fault but a high risk fire hazard and have reported the incident to Trading Standards who said they will pass on for investigation under the sale of dangerous goods.
The engineer has just called and stated this is the first time he has seen this sort of heat damage and Stoves have agreed to a full refund which we then have to claim back from Sainsbury's from where we made the purchase.
Now we have to find a new oven before Xmas
