Good Points: Reliable, tough as nails, wide availability
Bad Points: None
General comments: I've owned the same Mag lite D-cell since 1989. It has gone through a dozen battery changes and two bulbs and it is still going strong. You will not find a more durable light for the price. Highly recommended.

I spent several years living in the tropics, where two of the main drawbacks to life were (i) power outages, and (ii) the occasional hurricane. Very quickly you learn the value of a Mag lite over its competitors. They take a serious beating, and when their plastic and rubber imitators have been consigned to the dustbin, they are still giving you bright glorious light. It is no accident that they are US military standard issue. They are pricey, but if you really need a torch, saving a few pen ...

I have several Mag-Lites. Two of which I had allowed the batteries to corrode inside. Mag-Lite, repaired free of charge. Well done Mag-Lite!
