11 Jan 2006

Summary
A fast Intel processor, the latest Windows Mobile OS and a rich feature set make the Atom an almost-ideal PDA-phone for those willing to sacrifice an integrated keyboard for compactness.

Pros
Compact size ; good battery life ; built-in Wi-Fi connectivity ; onboard FM radio ; sharp LCD screen

Cons
Slow camera operation ; smudgy casing ; echo feedback during calls ; miniSD slot ; mediocre speakers

O2 Xda Stealth Review - PDAs
16 Oct 2006

Summary
O2's Xda Stealth looks a lot like a regular slider phone, until you flick it open and notice the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, push e-mail capabilities and built-in Wi-Fi support.

Pros
Touchpad or dialing pad option, Good smartphone performance, Inbuilt answering machine

Cons
Poor battery life, Stylus is rubbish, Some functions default to the touchpad only, Self-launching applications

Verdict
O2's Xda Stealth promises a perfect hybrid world of smartphone and slider phone, but the reality of what it delivers is somewhat less than that. Read our Australian review.

O2 Xda Atom Review - PDA-phones
30 Nov 2005

Summary
It has Wi-Fi, a 2-megapixel camera and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, yet shares the same dimensions as the Xda II Mini. Find out what the hype on the Xda Atom is all about.

Pros
Tiny smartphone, Integrated media centre-like functions, 2-megapixel camera, Stylish layout

Cons
Possibly too small for some business uses, MiniSD card rather than full-sized SD

Verdict
O2's redefined micro-smartphone has been improved, and while it's not the cheapest option around, it's certainly eye-catching and fun to use.

O2 Xda Stealth
7 Nov 2006

Pros
Good display, Connectivity options, Answer Machine

Cons
Design, Clunky slider, Stylus location, Keypad, Sunlight glare makes display difficult to read, USB 1.2, Issues with text input

Verdict
A solid offering purely as a phone and a handy answering machine application aren't enough to make the Stealth appealing. Ultimately let down by a poor design, issues with text input and a rather moderate battery life.

o2 Zinc
13 Feb 2007

Summary
O2's attempt at the all-singing, all-dancing convergence device over-extends itself.

Verdict
There are a lot of input methods available to you. You can choose between a Palm-esque gesture recognition system, a miniature QWERTY keyboard which you tap with the stylus, or a thumb-operated keyboard which slides out to the side of the phone. This ...

Nokia N97

N series first with 3.5-inch touchscreen that are complete multimedia phone

one thing that is very feasible to make N97 be used as entertainment center is a touch screen 3.5-inch wide screen 16:9 format. Create a type-like type, there is a sliding QWERTY keyboard (similar to Windows Mobile-based phone). Of course, the virtual touch input can still be used. For button, use only the three lines of the space, but there is no button number retired. This can not be making or problem at all....

Nokia N95

Where do I start? Terrible battery life, kept crashing - could only restart by taking battery out and re-inserting it, battery cover kept falling off, took it back to t-mobile shop for software upgrade when it came back Nokia said they had not repaired it as it was water damaged! It certainly was not. Had to buy a PAYG handset to see me through to the end of contract. Finally by the time sat-nav had started up and planned a route, you could have walked to your destination. BIG mistake ever...
