Isn't it funny how its generally people who have a bad experience who take the time to do reviews and tell everyone how awful Ikea are!!!! I was informed that my delivery was on the 29th by email and text, I waited in all day and yet nothing arrived. I have tried to contact their customer service but everytime I try I am put on hold for over 20 mins and then just give up. Ikea make good products but have a shockingly bad delivery service. We were expecting the delivery of 3 bookcases but only two and a bit were delivered. The two delivery men reliably informed us that they were missing a box and that "no doubt Ikea will arrange delivery", but the truth was that they didn't really care as they were just contractors and their job was just to drive the van and that was the sum total of their responsibility and interest. “Nightmare in-store experience, could not contact by...”

The whole experience from start to finish (except the delivery itself) was a nightmare. It took 2 hours to place our order in-store (too long a story to go into). I then needed to contact the store regarding delivery of items as one the sofas I ordered bacame discontinued the day after I paid for it. Could not get through on the phone despite over 20 attempts, continually put on hold for 20, 30+ minutes. Broken links on the website and the online chat does not work!!!!! Never again!!! “Worst customer service I have ever encountered”

The customer service in store was pretty good, we used the pick and deliver service as we had ordered too much to pick ourselves. I was assured all of my items would be delivered the next day, this was assured as one of the items I tried to order was not in stock, so they could not add it too my order, which seemed strange for a modern national retailer to lose a sale rather than split an order. I order furniture from Ikea at Canton,MI and expedited to be shipped the next day and shipping guys show up say they missed a piece. I call them back to let them know and a case has been registered. Now they say it will take 2 days for the case to get activated and they will schedule for another delivery which could be after a week or so. I have bought a kitchen from IKEA but to be honest would not use them again. They have an excellent online planning tool, which I used to plan my kitchen, we went in to do the final details in store. Not easy for us as we had a 2 hour drive to the nearest store. The trouble began when we had to work with customer services. I ordered some Expedit shelving, which looks great online and I can't wait to receive them. It's disappointing that, although I spent over £100, delivery was still £15, and more surprising - an EIGHT DAY wait! What an earth is going on Ikea? Great looking modern designs that are very good value. I bought a great looking sideboard that was very easy to make [at least my hubby tells me so!]. My recent experience of Ikea Customer Relations / Service has been terrible! Their assistant ordered me the wrong product yet I have to pay to have it taken down and they might reimburse me! “Assembly Angels rip off ”

Bought my furniture at ikea, and was delivered the next day, fantastic. They advised I used Assembly Angels to put it up for me, so I arranged this with them. Waited in all day for the assembly angels, continuously called the office and got no return calls, they finally turned up at 9.30pm at night, they were rushing and chipped a part of the wardrobe, and now the wardrobes are on a slant !!!!!!! Visited the Milton Keynes Branch from Peterborough ( Ironically 3 Miles from Distribution Warehouse, still no shop as promised by Ikea when it was built ). Visited several times and decided on a Wardrobe. Bought a Godmorgan 2 door high level bathroom cabinet from Ikea for £90 online as its not availble in shops. When it arrived I assembled it, drilled the wall and hung the cabinet and then fitted the doors which overlapped in the middle. The hinges are standard type hinges but they would not adjust using the screws available. Purchased Ikea Godmorgon 2 drawer unit - 6 months later unit trashed wood veneer mouldy and peeling and Ikea voiding the guarantee. Same with Harlig kitchen doors purchased 6 months ago. Veneer peeling off and 25 year guarantee not honoured.
Avoid Ikea at all cost - cheap and nasty product and no guarantee.

I ordered a batch of things from Ikea online ten days ago. Order went through, charged my card, paid a tenner for delivery which is pretty steep but I assumed would be expedited courier of some sort. (given Argos do quick delivery for about a fiver). I checked the availability of a certain bed sheet online and was reassured to discover that they claimed to have over ninety of the item at IKEA Milton Keynes. But at the shop I was told both (i) that they had none in stock and (ii) they had some in stock but they didn't know where they were. “Poang armchairs subject to sudden collapse”

The bolt on the left arm of poang armchairs is subject to sudden shearing causing the collapse of the chair. This fault is well known to IKEA who refuse to acknowledge it. I have been through 3 levels of reporting with IKEA following the collapse of one of our chairs due to a failed bolt. This casued the fram eto fracture and threw the occpant backwards to the floor. I had read reviews below and was prepared for a disaster while actual service was good. It took 2 weeks from payment to delivery, 2 days more then was indicated on check out, where it was noted that the actual date can vary. Ordered 24 items on the 21st October for the kids playroom. Payment was taken straight away. Really annoyed.... we went to IKEA Ashton and saw a sofa in the bargin section, we explained that we live in South Wales and they said it was fine and they would deliver it for £50. We waited over 1 hour to arrange this and spoke to 3 different members of staff who all agreed with the delivery arrangements. I recently had to furnish a whole house and being a bloke, can't be bothered shopping all over the country when Ikea has everything under one roof. I like the simple, clean design lines and the fact that most products are available the same day, including large items like sofas, washing machines and fridges etc. See it, buy it, chuck it in the car, bring it home, bish-bosh job done, easy. I only recently started shopping at Ikea but wish I had been warned that their style of customer service is similar to Ryanair. I went with a builder to pick up parts for two wardrobes. The woman at the collections area gave me a print out for collection. When we found there was only one package for one of the sets of doors we queried it but they said it was what had been ordered. Absolute torrid service I emailed their CEO who didnt even have decency to respond, driver broke my unit, two deliveries planned post this and they didnt even turn up!. I ordered 3 pks Ledberg lights on line it is supposed to be delivered 17th Oct it is now 17:05, and I have been in all day,never received confirmation e.mail, considering that the goods were paid for by credit card . they were ordered last week and that the address for delivery was perfectly clear and it was the same as the billing address.I will never order anything from Ikea on line again. If no goods are delivered I shall contact my credit card company . Also I shall notify my local paper as to shoddy this service is.They do not deserve even one star

Having endured the torture that is the disorientation of shopping at Ikea, I finally found out that you cannot simply pick up a Galant desk from the shelf. No, you have to find a member of staff who then prints a colection order - interesting to note that mine was 50% illegible because no-one could be arsed to change the printer ink, so it was virtually impossible to read at checkout. hi all, beware of ikeas gloss kitchens. we brought one six months ago and all the door and draw fronts can be easily scratched with a lightly applied finger nail! it seems to effect all their gloss range sometimes the scratches can be difficult to see they can look like cobwebs across the surface. if you have one take a front off some where it wont matter and lightly move your finger nail across the surface and if its anything like ours it will easily scratch. our friends have a grey gloss... Okay so you order something online it gives you a delivery date, you happily pay for it and then as soon as it is paid the delivery date already change +1/2weeks so you get a little bit annoyed but it is already paid and then it gets even more annoying when a few days later you get your dispatch email and the delivery has been pushed back to 3/4 weeks later! and when you try to cancel your order or speak to them about it they are the rudest people! they have no customer care... Be prepared to walk miles. First you have to walk a long way from your parking spot to the entrance. Next you walk forever inside the store to finally arrive at the place where the stuff you intended to buy is located, if you're lucky enough to find it after spending considerable time trying to locate it. Have just visited the new IKEA shop on Rhodes, Greece! What a disappointment to find it is only a showroom and everything, yes everything has to be ordered. Minimum orders only of 90euros - in these desperate times come on!!! Couldn't even buy a cushion or a plastic plant!!!! NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.

I can't really understand why so many people write bad reviews about IKEA here because its a great store that thinks about the environment and the prices are totally fair. Warning!! Do not buy a matress from Ikea, worst money I ever spent. Matress has killed my back, has no suspension at all, can't even sit on it upright to read a book, end up sinking into the bottom. Can't afford to change it now, they won't swap it without a reciept, even though it was bought online they won't trace the ref number for me. Purchase at your peril, advice: buy from your local furniture store, might pay a bit more but worth it for a good nights sleep, something I haven't had... (read more)

Ordered on line a mattress, two sofas, an arm chair, a stool, covers and large book case (5 sections) on 31st July. Delivery day given as 10th August - the day I'd managed to get Olympic tickets for. Phoned Ikea, had to wait about 12 mins while in the call queue - but the they kept me updated with my position in the queue.
