Aware that a second floor delivery can be a challenge, I phoned them before placing my order. They said with so many flats, they have to be able to offer a delivery to second floor (or above). On the advice of the person I spoke to, I phoned again after ordering to ensure they knew it would be a second floor delivery, stairs only. No problem they said. You can guess where this is going. Delivery men knocked down our wrought iron gates! We received our new fridge yesterday evening, having been incredibly excited and pleased with the service we had received from the Currys store in Hedge End, Southampton. I arranged for my sony tv to be delivered they talked me into buying a lead I didn't even need, I paid £45 for set up and demo all I got were two uneducated delivery drivers who didn't know how to set it up, one of them opened my box for the useless lead saying 'they always sell people things they don't need ' ! Then they left with me not knowing how to set up my tv. I complained but no one seems to care or do anything I've phoned them three times. “Don't bother to pay for insurance”

I purchased an Asus laptop in November 2015 and took out expensive insurance which would enable me to have quick repairs in the event of breakdown, virus attack etc What a complete waste of money! This laptop has never worked well, I believe that the software was incorrectly installed in the first place as I have had to take the laptop back to be looked at around half a dozen times at least. brought my laptop a little while back now from the Basingstoke store. (lenova,ideapad 310) I went along to the store in the hope of getting a smallish laptop around the 300£ mark, with a dvd/cd drive and a large memory as I was at the time using a note book with a 2gb which wasn't enough for me. Sat in today waiting for my dishwasher. Arrived promptly then said they couldn't fir it as they weren't allowed to connect more than a meter from the water supply. Our old dishwasher had been dismantled and when put back they fitted the integrated door poorly and took the panting off and didn't refit it. Purchased a new fridge, sign said next day delivery after purchasing was advised delivery would be 2 weeks or if I paid £45 I could get within 2 days???? “Customer care bad, we took them to court...and they...”

Purchased a tablet. After 4-5 months the charging point failed. They accused us of maliciously damaging the otherwise pristine tablet. They would only entertain us paying £65 for them to do a report or we could get our own external report (at our cost). “rubbish delivery service”

Recently ordered a washing machine from currys online, was unable to select a delivery slot when ordering therefore had to wait to be allocated a timeslot, which was today between 3.55 till 7.55pm. Took time off and waited. At 7.30 I received a call to tell me they had been held up and would be unable to deliver today. Bought a fridge/freezer and paid for timed delivery. The delivery was fine but the item was not unpacked and I was left to do that and dispose of the packaging. Then when it was turned on the fridge did not work. Trying to get an engineer is almost impossible, kept on hold for ages and when I finally arrange an appointment it was cancelled for no reason the next day. I recently purchased a TV from Currys. We couldn't get it to work from the start and in end it turned out that TV could not display picture in our house as it needs to be 1080 and it was only 720. I had all the original packaging, receipts and offered to pay extra for return costs and difference to upgrade to a 1080 TV, but their response was that legally they did not need to. Currys sold us a new oven and pressured us to use their installers (Knowhow), which we paid £100 for. The knowhow installer damaged our brand new kitchen units during the installation, and left muddy footprints throughout the hall and kitchen, and left assorted debris in the kitchen and across the drive – even though we had paid extra for them to remove all debris. I bought an integrated dishwasher from Currys and paid the £99 installation fee.
It was delivered and fitted,my original door was fitted which was handleless so that there was a shallow lip at the top to pull the door down. When I opened the door for the first time I noticed that the fitter had screwed right through the door and left it. The door was flush one side but stuck out the other side, a complete bodge. Now they are asking me to run around to get prices to get it fixed, they are going to deduct for the age of the door which the kitchen was fitted 2 years ago. If I wanted to have like for like I would have to claim on my household insurance which would then put my next years premium up substancially.I have thrown the whole thing back in their court telling them I have paid for this work to be done and expect it carried out it is their mistake they should sort it. I have asked for a rep to visit and see the damage and am waiting for a reply, I agree with your statement use them at your peril, the after sales service is next to none.

“Currys are effectively above the law after 6 months”

We bought a Sony TV from Currys in February 2015 and it broke, despite very careful treatment in April 2016. The law (then Sale of Goods Act, but it's since changed) allows you to claim, among other things, if the goods are not durable and TV manufacturers say they should last at least five years, so I sued in the small claims court for the difference. “TAKE CARE - THEY DONT!”

Bosch oven failed almost immediately. Reaction from Currys was to instantly offload to Bosch - not even a question. I tried for consumer rights refund but the answer was, effectively, 'you'll have to wait until a Bosch engineer accepts the fault and a refund is authorised from Bosch'.
