We spent £2650 on some furniture we chose in the Taunton store; a leather two seater and two single chairs and a coffee table. The floor in the show room is on many levels so we did not realise how tall the coffee table was. They arrived today and the table is unsuitable for the room. There is also a hole in the two seater, small but in a prominent place! We do not like the coffee table and they have refused to give us a refund. That's completely irrelevant if you're abroad. You went into a contract with them and the goods are not fit for purpose. Have a look at moneysavingexpert for template letters and advice. They're using that as an excuse and probably can't be bothered so let them know you're not accepting their excuses. You may lose out on the delivery and returns charge but's a lot better than being £2000 down and having a shabby sofa that isn't resalable. If you try having it repaired, they may use that as an excuse that you're invalidated the manufacturer's guarantee but don't be put off. Trust me, I got my full refund and took photos at regular intervals to show the lack of craftsmanship and failings of a poor quality product.

I worked at DFS and sadly that is the norm. 10/10 customers have the same problem. I used to deal with this kind of thing every day, suites delivered damaged, poor workmanship and badly stored and handled in warehouse prior to delivery. I was always told cannot cancel or refund items. They replace if damaged. It's the branch trying to meet and keep targets. Keep on at them and you will get your refund, mention miss selling, trading standards etc once you make a fuss they will do it.
