Bad Points: Not a lot of head room and poor rear space
Body kit and side skirts come loose

General comments: This car is a very fast little car that handles well. Citroen Saxo VTR has a smooth 1.6 8V engine that gives 98BHP. Good acceleration and really nice looking car. Really nice to drive.

    Sporty styling
    Cheap on insurance
    Good acceleration

owned my 2001(new shape) saxo vtr for 3 months. 1300 quid for 1 with 27000 on the clock with 1 owner and a full service history. what a bargain u would think. so far I've had to replace both drive shafts and 1 wheel bearing and 1 ball joint. I've done the full service to it including timing belt and it runs sweet. 4 michelin tyres and it handles immense without lowering or a strut brace yet. i drive it up the motorway and it rattles and gets blown about by a wee gust of wind and i watch as the f ...

I had a 1999T Reg Saxo VTR until August 2004 when I traded it in for my current car, a Citroen C3 Pluriel, which has given me nothing but gearbox trouble. I bought this car on a whim and absolutely hate it. So much so that I am seriously considering looking to find a late model (2003) Saxo VTR to replace it...A C2 VTR isn't the same!

Really miss my Green Mean machine and I wonder if it's still out there somewhere T831EGX, Where are you?? :)

Good little car for some one who is into hot hatches, but they don't take a lot of knocking about, unfortunately thats why teenagers normally go for this type of car.

Good fun car to drive and if you can get one cheap enough then it's well worth it.

Fun with some power and sharp handling, also Good Looking and Cheap to run! Responsive handling with little body roll coupled with a light chassis and a 1.6 litre v8 (0-60 9.6sc) gives this car a very sporty feel, this makes for a fun drive and can hold its own even against larger car 1.8s and the odd Scooby around back roads.
Having before had a GT4 Celica "very fast" but if on a budget (Mortgage) go for a vtr because its a good compromise.

Although a few bad points, this is a very good little car quite fast for the insurance, and has never let me down yet. Had the car for a few months now never had any real problems just a few minor ones but over all brilliant car.

This is my first car and I love it. Mine is a P reg with 70000 miles of the click for £800. Great condition. Its quick, reliable and gets my from A to B (home to work mainly)The main downside of this car is that they are generally driven by 17 year old chavs draped in silver and sovereign rings and in burberry colours who spend every penny they have on modifying it to be louder to annoy everyone who lives round them - this is not what all saxo drivers are like!Other than that its a great c ...

I think its a very good car, a few small faults but worth putting up with for the cars looks and performance.

Absolute stunner, great car, looks good, well worth having. Never had any problem, apart from the general wear and tear, which you would expect!

My son's just gone and got a 2003 Saxo VTR. I did always like the idea of French hot-hatches: small, simple but oh so good fun, and I've driven many Renaultsports, Peugeots and Citroens which live up to that, while also living up to expectations of flimsy quality and questionable reliability. The Saxo is based on the 106 and so by all accounts its certainly outdated by modern standards, but thats not to say its a bad car.
Like the other French stablemates, trim quality is nothing short of poor, ...

This is my second Citroen Saxo VTR. My first was an R reg which cost £1200 a few months ago. It was nippy and a nice looking motor but I had nothing but trouble with it. The power steering went, along with the central locking and the keypad locked itself. Then the battery kept on going flat. So you're probably wondering why I got another. Bought my new one yesterday. It's the face lift model so its 8bhp faster than the older models. It's lowered 50mm so its on the floor, with a stainless e ...

My Citroen Saxo VTR is moonstone blue and makes me smile,..lowered 60mm and 45 back, (prefer it that way) it has Gloss Black refurbished VTS alloys, which give it that Va Va Voom! It has a "very" loud sound system which will turn peoples heads.. it has an induction kit and exhaust which adds to the speed and immense sound, and keeps a grin on my face when I put the pedal to the floor, it has dark tinted windows and dark lights at the rear.. it looks Quality.. and sounds good too.. Cant get enoug ...

I have had a lot of minor problems (mainly electrical) with my Citroen Saxo VTR - the air bag light seems to have a mind of its own (goes on and off) and I've had to replace both driveshafts since I've owned it. But don't let these problems put you off, the positives really do out weigh the negatives - I've driven lots of cars being a mechanic but only a few make me smile as much as my vtr.
