“Puts smile on my face”

Written on: 28/06/2012

nedeed a car urgently as my Xsara diesel blew up just before I went on holiday. was looking for another diesel as I do a lot of miles and had sights on a peugeot 106 1.4 but a short drive in a car with no PAS ruled that out. the guy selling the peugeot had a number of cars and I stumbled across a 1.6 vtr with 68000 miles with new tyres and a cambelt replacement at 60500. Got in it and I was 20 again. This is not a luxury car but has sunroof, electric windows and a decent stereo. It is such a… Read Full Review

bought my 2001 phase2 vtr about six months ago, totally loves it very reliable and nippy good looking car too!just changed the wheel bearings, complete arm and ball joints, i got a question for those out there who knows more about the vtr than my self, mainly turning right i hear a loud bubbling type noise(like a bubbling of fluid noise)also a horrible clunking knocking noise, could this be a driveshaft or cv joint problem???? thanks… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/10/2010

I have had 3 Saxo VTR's now, so it's fair to say I know a fair bit about them. Every Saxo I've had is great to drive, handles very well, has good acceleration and can achieve around 36-40mpg when driven normally. The interior is fairly cheap, and the boot is small but it's what you expect from an older Citroen really. The engine when standard makes a lovely roar without the need for silly induction kits or big exhausts, the car really puts a smile on your face when in the country. It is also… Read Full Review

owned my 2001(new shape) saxo vtr for 3 months. 1300 quid for 1 with 27000 on the clock with 1 owner and a full service history. what a bargain u would think. so far I've had to replace both drive shafts and 1 wheel bearing and 1 ball joint. I've done the full service to it including timing belt and it runs sweet. 4 michelin tyres and it handles immense without lowering or a strut brace yet. i drive it up the motorway and it rattles and gets blown about by a wee gust of wind and i watch as the… Read Full Review

That is clearly meant to be £780. NOT £78.

My first year on a VTR was £2200. Second year was £1200. Third year is now £750.

I've had zero accidents & have zero points. No way is a 17 year old getting insured for £75. Blatent Bull!

Besides, 17 year old in a saxo = written off in its first year and higher premiums for us all! Standard.

Written on: 27/03/2009 by Rick259 (2 reviews written)

I had a 1999T Reg Saxo VTR until August 2004 when I traded it in for my current car, a Citroen C3 Pluriel, which has given me nothing but gearbox trouble. I bought this car on a whim and absolutely hate it. So much so that I am seriously considering looking to find a late model (2003) Saxo VTR to replace it...A C2 VTR isn't the same!

Really miss my Green Mean machine and I wonder if it's still out there somewhere T831EGX, Where are you?? :)

Fun with some power and sharp handling, also Good Looking and Cheap to run! Responsive handling with little body roll coupled with a light chassis and a 1.6 litre v8 (0-60 9.6sc) gives this car a very sporty feel, this makes for a fun drive and can hold its own even against larger car 1.8s and the odd Scooby around back roads. Having before had a GT4 Celica "very fast" but if on a budget (Mortgage) go for a vtr because its a good compromise… Read Full Review

This is my first car and I love it. Mine is a P reg with 70000 miles of the click for £800. Great condition. Its quick, reliable and gets my from A to B (home to work mainly)
The main downside of this car is that they are generally driven by 17 year old chavs draped in silver and sovereign rings and in burberry colours who spend every penny they have on modifying it to be louder to annoy everyone who lives round them - this is not what all saxo drivers are like!
Other than that its a great… Read Full Review

This is a banging car. I bought this car because I like the looks and perfomance not because I'm a chav or boy racer. I bought it for £750 on a 2000 plate with low mileage and I think I am going to keep this car for a few years.
