Good food and plenty of it for the money. Bar staff always friendly, Manager very quiet person but polite enough. Been going there for nearly 20 years… Read Full Review

“great local pub and good vaired pub menu”

Written on: 18/08/2012 by jennykempuk (1 review written)

we go on holiday to brundall every year (My mum and dad, me and my 4 year old daughter) and we quite frequently eat at the yare. the landlords are very friendly, and always make us feel most welcome. especially as we always sit in the bar , not the family room, which can annoy some pubs. Also the landlords are always working, which is pleasant to see. The food is good value for money, and they have a daily special (most meals are £8.99) they also do the staple children's meal (chicken… Read Full Review

“Great local pub with good food”

Written on: 04/08/2012 by gbadr (1 review written)

I have read the latest reviews on The Yare Pub. These people obviously have a grievance against the pub or are one of the new breed of visitor who just come away to complain. I & my family have used the Yare Pub for over 20 years & consider it to be an excellent local facility, serving good basic pub food with friendly, helpful staff. The problem with reviews are that the vast majority of satisfied customers do not write reviews, only those few who wish to complain write them. As an owner of… Read Full Review

“Stay Away!!”

Written on: 11/03/2012 by Carlyr69 (1 review written)

On entering the pub for an afternoon meal we were greeted by The Manager serving at the bar. He was most unwelcoming to the point of being rude!! The staff around him were not much better and were dressed in scruffy clothes! The glasses were dirty, the tables were dirty, the menu was basic but expected in a pub I suppose! The cutlery didn't match and was filthy!! When we finally got our meal the chips ordered with our Lasagne were obviously re-fried I'd say at least five times to point that… Read Full Review

“Loathesome Vile Management”

Written on: 22/06/2011

This could be such a great pub, in a fantastic position. However there is a slim middle aged balding sullen faced manager running it (if you frequent it you'll know who i mean!) with the personality of a flea. It would be almost acceptable if he were just Mr Grumpy and boring, but he looks at everyone with complete contempt and disdain, he doesn't hide the fact that that he completely despises his customers!! It's amazing that in this the worst economic climate in living memory, and good… Read Full Review

The Yare situated about 6 miles out of Norwich in a delightful village called Brundall. I go to the Yare often and I find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Overall that atmosphere is very good and will suit everyone. Their is a section just for adults so that they can have peace from family groups and their is an area for eating. The food on the whole is good and the service is helpful and nice. The meals are typical of what you will find in many british restaurants and it is in a lovely… Read Full Review

I used to work there, they had mice everywhere out the back kitchen door and they could easily run into the kitchen. The staff were all over worked and under appreciated so had no reason to present a good image. The decor hasn't changed in years and is in real need of an update and clean. The managers have no people skills. If it wasn't for the cheap mediocre food and convenience of position it probably wouldn't be there… Read Full Review

A very very old fashioned basic pub with very old fashioned basic food and very old fashioned basic service. Being situated quite close to the river and on its flood plain this pub reguarly gets water logged. Tm guessing that if the soups and sauces arn't out of a packet they probably get them by wringing out the carpet!
Sunday lunch is cheap, cheap, cheap but thats a good thing judging by the slivers of what proccesed meat presented on the non matching crockery with all the finesse of a… Read Full Review

Written on: 31/01/2010

Yesterday we had cause to visit Brundall, a village located on the River Yare, six miles out of Norwich in the direction of Great Yarmouth. It was not long after midday when we concluded our matters in hand, so we decided to call in at a pub called The Yare for a spot of luncheon. Situated between a large boatyard for the filthy rich and one of Brundall's two stations it looked an ideal spot for a middle of the day meal. How wrong we were!

We should have been put off by the frosty reception we… Read Full Review

Food was ok , pretty much the same as most pb food. The bar staff were nice. Liked the theme of The Yare pub, very old looked nice. The manager seemed to give you the impression that we were doing him a favour with the attitude of can you hurry up and make your mind up my regulars are waiting. There seemed to be a 2 tear price system one for locals and one for visitors. … Read Full Review

Called in for a snack around 1.30pm, we were to lt was too late for food and that they closed at 2pm. Have been in there on 3 occosions now (2 due to having to meet people there) and I have to say I find the atmosphere very cold unless you are a local. many of my colleagues have found the same. In my opinion thias is a pub that does not favour tourists… Read Full Review

Written on: 13/05/2007 by djeva1 (51 reviews written)

Outside the eastern part of Norwich is a village called Brundall. Situated next to the train station in Brundall, is the Yare pub, which is a large, spacious building and very old, which gives the place character. When you walk inside the place, it looks quite dark but cosy. There are lots of old pictures on the walls, and old beams in the ceiling. The Yare is also situated next to the river Yare, where lots of boats are moored up. It looks very picturesque from inside the pub. Nearly every… Read Full Review

I found this review not helpful because... it' not a review it's an advert by the owner (at least that's my guess!).
