“Powerful Scooter”

★★★★☆

written by Lnoncent on 21/07/2013

I bought this 2008 Kymco Xciting 500 on May 3rd, 2013, with only 1383 miles, Man, this baby is powerful, it's got great handling, awesome brakes, my extra large helmet fits perfect under the seat. If you want to get a great scooter for a great price, Go with Kymco, So far I am happy with it, Go Kymco...

08 Kymco xciting 500Ri. No abs but fuel injected. I prefer no abs as I want to do the handling, not abs taking over for me. Love the color and easy to get accessories for. Everyone looks!
Added laminar lip/ airhawk seat/chrome foot boards/wind flares/Kymco backrest with chrome bar, 2 cortech tail bags that they said don ' t hook together but do with the saddlebags. So change the buckles and all is great! They sit on top of each other as bottom one is round while top one is flat. Mpg from 55-63mpg depending on speed etc. I have 1417 ks or 880 miles on it and bought it 3 months ago.

Love my Kymco Xciting 500. Easier and more convenient than a geared motorcycle. Lots of conveniences like cell phone charger, very secure ignition lock, great looking, and decent mpg.
Quick off the line; so quick in fact I had to adjust my throttle twist.
It takes a couple of minutes to warm up, nothing wrong with that. I either clean windscreen and gear-up or just look at her handsome lines.
Heavy weight gives it great stability on occasional freeway jaunts. I generally prefer the back roads as more pleasant and have the great fortune to live in central Texas with some of the best back country motorbike cruising roads around.
I purchased mine 2/08 and by summer's end had clocked nearly 10,000 miles. Those miles include some rain and windstorms, including one frigid norther at the end of February where the wind was incredibly strong.

I test drove one today and did about 10 miles around town and thru traffic. I was a good handling large scooter and the weight was alot lighter than I thought. The throttle response was very good and the transmission was very positive in take off, it did not hesitate and was smooth responding. This is a good maxi scooter for the money.

Bought the Kymco Exciting as my wifes first bike. It was very easy for her to learn to ride. We took it to the mountains in Colorado and it not only kept up but was out in front a lot of the time. Great around town and roadworthy as well.

“Kymco 500 no question best value for money maxi on the...”

★★★★☆

written by kmunyard on 05/04/2008

Kymco 500 no question best value for money maxi on the market at least here in OZ. I am coming off a Sym 250 which has been very good and fitted me nicely with my custom made seat (I am 6'2, old and cranky) but the Xc 500i (yes injected, spoilt I know)) is something else again. The big plus is freeway travel, just sits like a brick but flies like a bee. I have just 2600 km i.e on the clock and really starting to loosen up. Last night decided to change oil (have a big group ride tomorrow) normally allow 15 minutes but last nite 2.5 hrs of frustration. The factory fitted filter was very stubborn to say the least. After several modifications and lots of swearing I finally beat the bastard! For info the Yamaha T-max filter is equivalent and costs less and were in stock. My dealer had nil stocks for my Xc (still new here in OZ). Here is another tip for what its worth. Keep the tyre pressure well up ,the rolling resistance is improved and tire wear will be a lot less. Go and buy a cycle pump with built in gauge. Its so easy and will save you heaps in tires or is that tyres! Only negative so far on the Xc is the weight but you cant have it all, can you? Trust Kymco sure can! Enjoy.
