“Engine Cuts Out (5mins) ”

★★☆☆☆

written by lemerle on 30/04/2020

New Trimac followed instructions to the letter. Started well and stopped after five minutes work. Engine seemed and was very hot Removed spark plug which was very hot to touch. Checked fuel ratio as instructed re hot engine. Tried again ad it started for another 5 mins. Waited for it to cool and it stated again for 5mins. Left it in garage overnight but have not bothered to try again. Does it need "running in" as the parts are all new? Or have I got the constructed on "Monday Morning" strimmer. i.e. is it a bummer ? Thus far it seems to be a bad buy. Hope I am wrong because it theoretically is just the job for my needs.

Bought the 210 trimmer today 3ed May 2011. Assembly was easy and it is a nice light weight. Difficult to start initially butas it's brand new I thought nothing of it. Within 10 minutes of use I noticed there was smoke coming from the guard mounting; it was melting!!! Turned it off and the whole head assembly flew off as it slowed down. Mounting was very hot. I think I will be returning it tomorrow. Maybe it was a rogue, I don't know. My first petrol strimmer but no way was it abused.

Exactly the same has happened to me !!!
End gets very hot each time, mounting melts and head drops off.
Must be duff batch of machines - no wonder it was reduced in price !!
I'II be ringing the service people tomorrow to see what they say - and hopefully returning for a refund.
Starting is hit and miss, sometimes fires up - other times a sod.
Agree machine is relatively light, but withouit a strap after a while you have to put it down. After 2 minutes the head has dropped off anyway and ground on fire !!
When machine runs it does cut well.
Based on others reviews - there must be some good'uns and some crap ones.

if you ever read this comment hi there
not to sound like im belittling you or saying your thick but did you make sure the engine had oil init as alot of modern petrol motors like those have there own oilwell for the engine but some need a specific 2stroke oil to petrol ratio ive found in the past that if i have a brand new 2stroke engine to start i add just a little bit more oil to the petrol just to give it that little extra lubrication if u couldnt get it replaced and still have the broken 1 let me know at [email protected] i might be in a position to relieve you of it for a reasonable price

Exactly the same thing has happened to my Trim Mac SL+ strimmer head. It was smoking, melted and flew off. It is also very difficult to start.

Bought this today,Engine ok,but stops the head rotation in a few minutes, pressing the button on head/cassette will rotate a few minutes, then stops again, highly dissastisfied, taking it back, funny thing the shaft rotates ok,but the head unit will stop, cant understand, suspect faulty assembly.

Not for thick grass and as long as you are doing a smallish garden you should be OK. Not right for me though.
It is a good value machine but is not for thick grass/weeds.
Fine if you just use it for trimming and strimming normal grass.
