I sent them 3 emails requesting information and they did not bother to reply to one. A sign of a company getting to big for its boots. Reducing their customer service to make bigger profits. AVOID! (read more)

I'm surprised at some of the poor reviews here. I started ordering from Riverford some 7 years ago and am very happy with them. I don't order the fruit and vegetable box, as I prefer the locally grown vegetables, and prefer to pick and choose the fruit I want. Or buy elsewhere. To refer to some of the criticisms - unfresh vegetables. Frankly, I just don't recognise this - on the contrary, the level of freshness is such that sometimes I say the vegetables look happy! “tried it once and not again”

i had my first veg box delivered by Riverford farms which was recommended by a friend and thought we would give it a go, we were very disappointed with the quality and quantity. That was the first and last time we spend our money on complete rubbish and when i rang the and told the company they could not care one bit. Our friend has also cancelled there order and did say that they used to be good. (read more)
“Had Riverford for years - but not any more...”

I've been having Riverford boxes for years and with very little complaint. However my box arrived yesterday with the meanest portions of fruit and veg in that I've ever seen... I'm sure I could have bought the same for half the money elsewhere... Riverford and I are done... (read more)
“Quality has changed and is inconsistent”

For a couple of years or so I have had weekly deliveries from Riverford and have not had anything to complain about much, and when I did I found the customer service team both speedy and helpful. I have found my local franchisee and driver very helpful Until the BBC Food and Farming awards in 2012 all was well, but from that date the consistency of the baked products was not reliable and in the run up to Christmas, this was unacceptable. I have been so impressed with this farm service. Each week they publish what is in the boxes so I am able to change my mind a few days before and change my delivery order. I like the fact I can add things, delete things and miss weeks whenever I like. You are not tied in at all. Each week they come around about the same time. I hated food shopping until a good friend told me she'd just discovered the joys of Riverford Organics home delivery. We both used to have allotments and aspire to the Good Life-style. I must say I wouldn't have tried Riverford without such a personal recommendation because the cost would have put me off. However, I've been so impressed with the quality of the meat, fruit and veg boxes that I am now an evangelist for Riverford; their ethical approach is wonderful and answers my worries... (read more)
“Fab fab fab”

Have used for ten years and was gutted when we moved and found out they didn't deliver. Fab service, fab fresh veg. My family who live in other parts of the uk have boxes too and none of us have ever had anything remotely mouldy as claimed by other reviewers. Veg lasts loads longer than the supermarket and is often cheaper than organic supermarket veg. (read more)
“Low customer service when something goes wrong”

Fine first few weeks, then an error on their website led to them not pausing my order for long enough while we were on holiday. We arrived home to a rancid veg box - nice in itself, nicer still, they won't refund, my local delivery person talks of 'the farm' as a separate entity, as if he is stuck between me and them, which I guess must be the business model. i had a problem with riverford as well they suspended my account and asked for money up front all because i opened a account online for my freind and accidently put my address for my freind i tried to correct it which i did then i ended up haveing my acount suspended and a phone call from (name removed) at riverford pointing out there was 3 accounts i said yes one me one my friend for deliverys i said plse delete the other account i made a mistake online with entering my freinds details and apologised and thnked her for pointing the error out she then said it looked dodgy and wanted payment up front as if i was a criminal and i was so upset as me and my friend where looking forward to our boxs i said i can allow you to take payment just before delivery no problem but no she wanted it days before i said forget it!! no customer service no help an rude

I have been nothing short of impressed by these guys, they always delivery beautiful fruit and veg - some of the best I've been ale to find in the UK. I grew up in the country and didn't realise how lucky i was to have such noce fruit and veg readily available, and having Riverford deliver every week has been excellent. Their website is great - very easy to use. You can cancel any upcoming orders with one click (great if you've had a few meals out), you can add stuff at the last minute, and... (read more)

“Very Poor Box ”

I ordered a delivery from Riverfords and it was nearly all thrown in teh dustbin..Funny i should mention dustbin as thats where the driver threw it without even ringing the bell it was a good job the dog heard a noise and i found it..I was going to have one every week but i am now off veg boxes for life i took photos of it and showed it to people online who also thought it was very poor..A lot of teh veg was soft and on its way out so it was of no use at all.. Very suprised at your experience. We have used Riverford for a couple of years now and happily recommended them to a very fussy friend who has also been using them for over a year. Never had a problem with either the quality of the food or the delivery.
Was considering changing to Able & Cole, simply because you can taylor your order more easily,so have been looking at reviews of both and have to say Riverford are coming up winners on the whole despite being less flexible.

“Riverford's figures just don't add up”

The business model is fine, the delivery service is fine, the quality of the products are fine. The issue, is the way the product is advertised. The website clearly states that the organic boxes are suitable for x number of people for a week/fornight but this is grossly out of balance. For example the largest meat pack claims to be for a family of 4+ for a fortnight, yet combined with even their largest vegetable and fruit pack, only contains enough calories to sustain a single person for... riverford was the first online organic veg co that i tried. i'm really glad i didn't stop at them. i often got moldy veg and when i phoned to tell them, their customer services are rude and quibble about refunds opting to give me veg that i didn't want instead. they constantly messed up our payments with their inept payment system. 2 yrs later after i closed the account, i'm still getting junk mail/adverts. after phoning to remove my address from the mailing list (even though the... I've been using the Riverford Organic box service for over 4 years now after a recommendation from a friend. I have always found both the veg and the service to be excellent. Only once has my delivery been late and that was during all the snow last winter (2010) and then I received an email informing me of the problem and my box arrived the next day. For the past 7 weeks or so I have been using the online organic grocery delivery company Riverford. I have been doing pretty much my entire weekly shop with them and spending quite a bit of money. I have been pleased enough with the quality of the produce, meat, etc. For the first month or more I paid by cheque. No problems there although I did notice that the company were very slow to cash the cheques (taking about 2 weeks on average).

Helpful service and great tasting veg. They send us recipes each week with our vegbox and they are great. Not always cheaper than the supermarket, but comparable to our local farm shop. I have really been impressed with their quality. Their organic wine is good, but the range could be bigger. Same with their range of organic cheeses, a bit limited but I have enjoyed them all. I have found that the small organic vegbox will feed two people for a week pretty comfortably.

I've been having riverford fruit and veg delivered for 5 months now and I very happy with the produce and the service.
The produce is fresh and very good. There's plenty of choice for the fussy person and the delivery is accommodating and very friendly.

did you speak to Riverford about this disappointing delivery or did you just cancel the box? I would be interested to know what they had to say and why they were unable to persuade you to stay as you mention you had used them for years and therefore presumably a loyal customer!
