“Kumho tyres waste of money”

Written on: 29/08/2012

I bought a full set of Kumho tyres after being assured they were great value. I covered less than 8000 miles and had to replace them. I got back to the shop in Sleaford and was told that my driving was bad. I have been driving for over 30 years. I drive very carefully and never speed or brake unnecessarily. I wrote to Kumho many times without success. Please avoid them do not buy these tyres, they are overpriced and not worth the money, stick to the branded tyres. (read more)

“Kuhmo KU31. Fantastic.”

Written on: 11/05/2012

I have had these on my Ford XR8 which has 300hp. They grip fantastic in the dry, in the wet a little less but still fantastic. Braking is great, handling is great. Remeber these are not a track tyre. So for an everyday performance tyre these things are amazing and cost less and are as good or out perform alot of the high end tyres including Continentals SII. Would highly recommend them. They are an amazing day to day performance tyre and you really do get what your pay for. There are... (read more)

Just had 4 of these fitted to some new wheels for my Astra VXR (225/35/19). I was a little worried as they seemed too cheap but after reading a few reviews I thought I would take a punt. So far (only done a few hundred miles) they are great, the grip in this damp winter wheather is great, I have fairly worn Toyo's on the front and they would let go at even quarter throttle in the damp but these dont (Then again, being new I would hope they wouldnt!). I have also chucked the car round a few... (read more)

These are quite good tires, especially for handling and value for money.

My car is fitted with S-Drives at the back for maximum traction, and KU-31s at the front for the most responsiveness i can get, and this is a setup i would be very happy to put on any sports car. I have a relatively difficuly size of tyre to find (225-50-16), and the KU-31's were also some of the best priced performance tires available, just beware the KU-21...nowhere near as good value for money.

There is a bit of... (read more)

May 2010-I have had these fitted to my Citroen C4 1.6 sx and my Skoda Fabia 1.2 sport and they are excellent tyres. After doing 20K on my previus tyre on my C4 I changed all four tyres to Kumhos ku 31 approx 18months ago. I was a bit hesitant as I had never heard of Kumho before but my local tyre fitter-Tyldesley Tyres, who are very busy most of the time, advised me to go for the kumhos and gave me the cheapest price anywhere for fitting and balancing. I trusted the managers advice and... (read more)

I found this review very helpful because I'm looking for tyres for my Mazda 6 and I need good performance without a lot of noise. Although the name is new to me it seems that these would be a good choice. Thanks

Khumo KU31 225/55/17's. After only a few thousand miles, mainly Motorway less than half laden at average legal speeds, all 4 tyres have gone noisy. to the extent, with 5mm on rear and 7mm on front, my garage thought the rear wheel bearings needed replacing. When commencing the work, they noticed a "feathering" of the tread block, that was causing the noise. Maybe on a normal car, this might not be noticeable, but I bought these because they have a reputation for less road noise! Money I... (read more)

Replaced stock Michelins with KU31 earlier this year. 235/40-18 fronts and 245/40-18 rear. Noise level down. Excellent grip dry and wet. Cant say much on wear yet, but definitely worth the money. They may feel a bit softer than Michelins. But I am happy! (read more)

Very impressed, my car has limited power compared to other stuff, but when fitted to the C1 i can definatley feel an improved ride. Did find them to be a little bit twitchy when pushing hard round a greasy wet roundabout, but then any tyre would be. Good enough for a car of this power and better than other budget brands. Better than the Yokohamas they replace in both the wet and the dry. Try EARS Motorsport in Macclesfield for Good Service and unbeatable price. (read more)

Exceptional tyre for the price, around £95 fitted the cheapest ive found from Event mobile.(December 2009) Replacing kumhos that have completed about 25000 on the front of my MG ZT diesel , still 3 mm tread left on them, more on the back that will be replaced in the next few months with KU31z.
Grip and wear excellent as you can see. Only downside is perhaps increased road noise, but minimal. Make sure they are fitted correctly as are omidrectional tyres with rotational arrows- bear in mind... (read more)

I bought the car with two new Kumho KU31 tyres on it. I thought they would be rubbish and would need to be changed for a "brand" tyre. They have proved to be a good all round tyre and have covered nearly 40K of daily driving and are more than a match for Bridgestone/Pirelli (read more)

Just replaced my P7 with Kumho KU31. Immediate find it is quiter and much more comfortable. The side wall is softer than the P7s so the handling feels a bit slower although the grip level is the same. For the same reason, my car is now more confortable on bumps and uneven roads. For its price level I can say it is one of the best in market (read more)

After 2 sets of Federal tyres on my Mercedes E class I liked the grip but was looking for something a bit quieter so switched to Kumho KU31s. The price is excellent and so far I haven't reached the limits of the grip, even under hard braking. Jury is out on wear but a friend has managed 20k on his so this should be acceptable as this will match previous Continental/bridgestones whcih cost 50% more. (read more)

The Kumho ku31 drives well and performs well for a budget priced tyre. good sidewall / rim protection. at the end of the day.... it's a great performing tyre at half the cost of main branded tyres.
average wear life.... expected a little more than 20,000 miles with front to back changes throughout. (read more)

Wanted a 215/50-17" tyre for Toyoto Avensis Verso. Overall happy & tyre is still comfortable even though a 50 series (versus original 205/65-15) But I expect to get at least 15k'km less than the standard Michelins. (read more)

Written on: 12/04/2008 by DaveGT (1 review written)

I have had 2 sets of Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 which I have been happy with, except for the noise factor, and the price. I have a Holden Vectra CDXI MY2004 V6, and they take an odd shaped tyre for Australia 215/50/R17. I had these recommended, and they were $60 to $80 cheaper than the NCT5. Took them for a spin after I bought them around the bends at south head in Sydney, and was very happy with the feel of the tyre, good grip, cornering and a lot quieter. On average I got around 50 000 to 55 000... (read more)

Written on: 20/11/2007 by EMDC (1 review written)

I bought four Kumho KU31 Tyre's for my Mustang 2 years ago. The price was quite reasonable for 255s. I liked them so much, I'm having them put on again at the weekend. My car doesn't do a lot of miles, so although 2 years seems like a long time in wear, it's not. They did wear out relatively quickly in relation to the number of miles I did. Excellent tyre for heavier cars, especially the larger sports coupes. Would be ideal on things like supras, monaros etc. Not so great on smaller lighter... (read more)

Although these tyres did wear slightly faster than my old Pirelli's, they definitely increased grip by a noticable amount, which was a nice surprise, especially considering the very affordable price, which more than made up for the higher wear rate. (read more)

Written on: 07/05/2007 by Belatucadrus (21 reviews written)

When I purchased my alloy wheel package I did a bit of research into tyres, The Kumho KU31 seemed very popular with users and having used them on a Celica for a year I can see why. Prior to this I had the stock Yokahama Advans, then Goodyear Eagle Venturas and I have to say that I rate the Kumhos at least as good as the Advans and rather better than the Eagles. Directional stability is excellent, even deep puddles don't bother them in the least, they stick to the road like glue and I got a W... (read more)
