got it back in 2003 for 1500pounds lol!!!!!! the battery dont work no more, good screen, very big, the hps are good now and seem to of got the battery thing sorted. wouldent buy this thing now its to old!!! buy a dell or acer there good (read more)

Overall compared to the new 2008 computer line of laptops this computer ranks at the bottom with all the rest of the 2003 models. If you are looking to find a good computer to start off with maybe for college or just to get used to having an inexpensive addition to your office or home this would for sure be a great buy! Used computers of this model can be found still on websites online and or at auctions. If wanting to purchase please do not spend more than a few hundred dollars. (read more)

this computer (laptop) is really good...we bought this in 2004 and now it is almost 2010 and i still use it like it's new.and right now i am tiping this comment from this laptot (presario 2500).but yeah what i dont like about this laptop is the battery that doesn't last long and that it only has 27 GB hard disk.i use this computer almost every day.i don't use my normal computer because a lot of other people go on it aswell.so i use this laptop as much as others use there normal computer.but the best part is ,that it is a 5-6 year old computer and it still works.but for some reasons this last year i can't instal antiviruses because they cause problems.but thats now this last year, but before i could instal antiviruses (when it was newer)i am on this laptop almost all day and everyday and still i have no problems

I will suggest you not buy this Compaq Presario 2500 laptop at any cost, only the screen display is good in my opinion. It's really one of the worst laptop i have found. Worst Keyboard i have seen on any laptop (read more)

Compaq Presario 2500 is not top of the line, but it is an advanced mid-range portable computer for its time.
It comes in various configurations with Celeron and Pentium 4 processors up to 3.06 GHz, CDROM/DVD/DVD+CDRW Combo drives, 14" and 15" monitors and up to 1G RAM.
Full featured versions have all kind of ports such as USB, IR and FireWire. It provides connectivity with most of today's available devices.

I would agree with all of the above - mine has given me a few years of reliable service with no problems. My only little niggles would be that (in my personal opinion) the built-in speakers are not all that good, and also as the previous reviewer mentioned it does produce quite a bit of heat, therefore the fan is on for a lot of the time and is not exactly quiet!

<br/>I have lugged mine around the country for the last 2 or 3 years and even dropped it a couple of times, but it is still providing sterling service. I rate Compaq as a brand-name quite highly and this is a very good laptop.
