Good Points: I first purchased this Compaq Presario 2500 Laptop back in 2003 and it was the ONLY laptop at that time that had the very best quality screen (WSGA )and had a dual DVD+-RW/CD+-RW drive! This computer did have customizable options if ordered directly from HP/Compaq for these and other higher end upgrades such as the 2.8Ghz Pentium IV Processor (the very fastest at this time)

This laptop is very easy to repair when taken to local repair shops or back to the manufacture.

Parts were always available and were at good prices.

Overall this computer was a great desktop replacement and helped to keep the office neat and clean while still letting the individual have the freedom to roam around wirelessly.

Bad Points: The major bad points to this computer was that the body case is all made of a light weight but bulky plastic that if dropped would for sure show every scratch or dent. The computer did have major failure with usage of power when running only on battery. Since this computer was mainly designed as a desktop replacement from HP/Compaq it was designed with that intent in mind (to take up less space in the office) and not for portability. The new batteries do not last longer than 1.5 - 2.0 hours but soon after a few months of use start to go bad fast.

General comments: Overall compared to the new 2008 computer line of laptops this computer ranks at the bottom with all the rest of the 2003 models. If you are looking to find a good computer to start off with maybe for college or just to get used to having an inexpensive addition to your office or home this would for sure be a great buy! Used computers of this model can be found still on websites online and or at auctions. If wanting to purchase please do not spend more than a few hundred dollars.

Good laptop as long as you don't want it portable with lots of battery usage. Sturdy and strong.

The fan and battery issues are strong disincentives.
