I'm 38 and never suffered with skin problems. I started using some of the boots moisturiser creams to try and prevent the onset of wrinkles, this included some free protect and perfect serums that i had. I have only just linked these to some severe facial redness and pimples. It started with a small patch on one cheek by my nose. Started using in Sept and saw a difference in the lines but after a few days I got sore lips but did nt realise it was the cream. Lips got worse and it spread to my eyes dry and itchy,raised skin and creases in my ears. December now and stopped using it months ago but its left me sensitive to everything now. Can't stop using hydrocortisone cream as it flares up after a day. Doc got no answers. Is a warning on the cream but never been sensitive before to anything so ignored it. Lesson learnt.... Free sample given to me by Boots staff at the till. I do not have sensitive skin and have used products in the Boots No7 range before. After applying to my face for 1 week, I've had a severe allergic reaction resulting in a visit to my Doctor. I purchased this based on Good Housekeeping's stellar review. The serum has wreaked havoc with my face also. Every wrinkle is more pronounced and I have bags under my eyes for the first time in my 57 years of life! First and last time trying Boots No7 product. You have to wonder about who's paying who to make such a glowing recommendation. Back to Alpha Hydrox, CeraVe, and AmLactin to keep my face looking 10 years younger and my pocket book fatter!

I have spent hundreds of dollars on different products over the last 2 yrs. I watching the news how Boots number 7 is all the riot in England. It is sold at Target stores so I went to check it out. I bought the perfect and protect. I only used it 2 weeks and I am pleasantly surprised. Many fine wrinkles are beginning to fade away. I got this as a Christmas present. Used it first day really nice made my skin feel soft not greasy. Second day my face was on fire it was swollen and rough and spotty. Unless you know your skin is not in the least sensitive I would not recommend this. I am sticking with good old Nivea. (read more)

Hi, I have had the exact same allergy to No7 Protect and Perfect. I am also going back to trusty Nivea. Also had a reaction to RoC a few years ago. Im trying to find a connection between the two. Im thinking it could be Vitamin A (Retinol)

After seeing a glowing review of this product on "the Doctors" tv show I ran right out and bought it at my local Target which included the eye serum, day and night moisturisers. I will say the first few days I liked the creams and it felt nice and smooth on my face. But after about a week I now have red, itchy patches on my face and break outs and little pimples on my chin. I am 30 and I used the P&P serum and noticed no change so I got the P&P Intense serum. After using it for 6-8 weeks I noticed the pigment in my skin darkening. I have contacted Boots who said they have never had a complaint about their product and reccommended me to seek advice from a dermatologist. I am so sorry to hear about your problems. The only thing I know of which will lightens skin pigmentation is a Pulsed Light Treatment, available from cosmetic surgeons assistants. Do NOT get this done at a hairdresser - you need someone who knows what they are doing. Ask if they have had it done and scrutinise their skin. Ask for before/after pics. You may need 6 treatments. Initially the pigmentation darkens, but then normalises and lightens. Your advantage is that you have plenty of time. This is in response to the dark pigment comment. Just a thought...if you are of a certain age...maybe early to mid thirties, and possibly using some form of birth control pill...that may very well be the cause of any darker patches, or just darkening looking facial skin. I have NO idea if that may be your case but the pill (or maybe just certain ones) can cause sort of a hyper-pigmentation to your face. It happened to me when I hit about 33. Once I went off the pill it went away. Just wondering if any Boots users are on birth control pills....maybe its not necessarily the serum (though I'm not saying it isn't...haven't tried it but plan to...)

I had been using Arbonne for about 2 years. My skin all of a sudden became red, inflamed and broken out. I asked my doctor and he said it was rosacea. Great! I have never had skin problems and now at 47 I had acne. I stopped using the Arbonne (lots of $$, no results) and went to something for rosacea. I have ultra-sensitive skin and have, over the years, been given suggestions on what products to use -- all of them hypo-allergenic. Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense was one of those recommendations and like all the products before, I had a reaction to one or more of the ingredients. Having an allergic reaction isn't fair to the maker of the product for its effectiveness. If I have ultra-sensitive skin, I would think I would know what types of materials or ingredients would make me breakout and avoid those products that contain them. Unfair review.

I too have always used No 7 moisturiser and make up - I used the serum and within a couple of hours found my face burning with itchy , watering eyes. Being sensitive to make up you know what works for you - and having the same results as the first reviewer I too have stopped using No 7 moisturisers, even the No7 moisturiser I could wear before this now makes my skin burn. Is it because this is "condensed" and what you can take in a milder form can't be tolerated when its stronger.

Query: did you test the product on the inside of your wrist first? I always recommend prior to buying creams that you visit the store (WITHOUT buying) just to get a sample or test it on your wrist first. Last week I bought a small Boots No 7 kit containing day cream, night cream, and the beauty serum. I also bought a separate cream cleanser and the eye gel. On Friday, I noticed my face felt warm and looked a little pink, and by the third day I too was experiencing watery burning eyes. Couldn't pinpoint as to whether any or all the products were causing this. It's a shame, as otherwise, my skin is looking healthier and the pores seem smaller. I'm trying just the night cream for a few days, then will add back all but the serum to see what happens. Also considered possibility that the products might be reacting with the Bare Escentuals makeup? I don't usually have product-sensitive skin so this is an odd experience for me.

Just wanted to let everyone know my thoughts on this product. I have been using P&P for 4 weeks now. I was cautious after reading the reviews but needn't have worried. I have had no reactions at all and I have very sensitive skin and also psoriasis. Give it a go. The wrinkles are on the decrease and my skin feels divine. I'll report back after another month or so. I have been using this cream for 5 weeks and have seen no noticeable improvement, after the first couple of applications I did have very watery irritated eyes, which having read reviews now I am pretty sure was a reaction to the serum but at the time I put down to using it too close to my eyes. Alot of hype over nothing if you ask me, I am early 30's and have seen a dramatic increase in my wrinkles around the eyes since having my first baby (probably due to weight loss and tiredness) so... Two weeks ago I started using the P&P Intense day cream and eye cream. In the last couple of days 2 patches of skin on my cheeks either side of my nose have felt very tight, almost like sunburn. I haven't been out in the sun so it def isn't sunburn. They look slightly red but not itchy.

I am not sure if my wrinkles have diminshed, but I have been told that I look about 5 yrs younger than what I am.I have been using it for 3 months. I use the serum in the 'intense' range. This level of evidence of effect is almost never available for over the counter (as opposed to prescription) products. When applying this to my face it feels like liquid silk and makes my skin feel beautiful all day. I even use it around my eyes (which you're not supposed to) as it feels so great. Treated myself to £90 worth of boots Protect and Perfect serum and moisturiser for my birthday. I am 52, but looked about 45 as I try hard to take care of myself. Well, contrary to some reviews I also have very sensitive skin but have found this cream to be well tolerated and have experienced absolutely no adverse affects.
The cream applies well, is easily absorbed and shows definate positive results. In the past I have used mainly RoC products but this is light years ahead and I'm very pleased with the results.

Since using this serum I have developed facial redness and red spots. I was relieved to know others have had same side effect. It is obviously too strong for my skin and I could not recommend it. I have read with interest the comments regarding allergic reactions to this cream. I am 54 and have senstive skin and have been using this cream for years and absoloutely love it and would not use anything else. I have been using this for 6 or so months now and people commented right away that my skin was looking nice. I am 33 and not very wrinkly but even so the lines that had been forming (on my forehead and around my mouth)have been pretty much smoothed. My husband says he can definitely tell the difference. I wish I'd come across these reviews regarding P&P before using it... I started to use the intensive serum and shortly afterwards started to come out in angry red spots. I immediately stopped using the cream imagining the spots would eventually clear up but two months later I still have what can only be described as terrible acne on my cheeks and jawline.
I don't have a history of sensitive skin and have never had a reaction like it before - don's use this product!

It sounds like I have had a similar reaction to others - used the day cream and serum once and within hours my face was convered with an horrific red rash, sore, itchy, and looked terrible. I went to my GP who prescribed me some strong steroid cream, which is working, but very slowly!
I do have sensitivity to some creams, but as this one said hypoallergenic, tested on sensitive skins etc and was a Boots brand (trustworthy?!) I went ahead with it.

I have really sensitive skin and i love this product. I have been using it for about 18 months now. I have transferred to the intense serum in the last 6 months. I use the intense serum first after cleansing, then the day cream, night cream (for nightime) and the eye cream for morning and night.
I have had no reaction at all, i guess everybody is different but i would throughly recommend it as it makes my skin lovely and soft. My pores are minimized too!!

I really too purchased & used Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect serum, and, after using it for 1 week, I developed a servere rash on my face, itching and swelling. I do not have sensitive skin and have never had any reaction to other products I have used. I have stop using the product and have an appt with my doctor tomorrow. I am will never used any items from this line again!
