“Poor Website response”

Have just received my log in details and tried to use the site. Well, what a total load of rubbish. Logging in general works, but once logged in every action of my mouse takes over 3 minutes to get a response from the website, even trying to scroll down the page. Have reported the problem to customer services who could only suggest that their system was busy and I should try again later. “Diabolical - more incompetent than I believed possible”

More incompetent than I would have believed possible. Have now spent nearly two months trying to get into my account. The latest is that I cannot transfer money out as the bank account check does not work - despite showing my correct account details. Apparently they use "third party software" and can't tell me what the problem is. Not only are they uninterested in their customers but almost seem to be deliberately trying to get rid of them. I have had an account since before the Equiniti takeover and the website is so poor. Terribly slow and often links simply don't work. I have brought this to their attention but get told that my browser is at fault. It really isnt! I have been with them from before the transfer to Equiniti. I have found customer service to be responsive but generally of little help. The web site is dire. Lots of bits don't work and you have to figure out your own workarounds. I have brought several issues to their attention. They can't help, and nothing is ever done to fix the problem. “Customer service is terrible”

Have been a customer for many years and have recommended to friends and family. Hold a stocks and shares ISA. Since the sale of the business to Equiniti in 2015, the customer service has been terrible. response times to messages are slow (5 days is normal), response from phone calls is not accurate. Incompetent service. Customer for over a decade. Leaving as soon as possible. Given how awful they are that may be sometime. They need to be investigated urgently by the regulator. “Tea and Sympathy”

This is the worst stockbroker I have ever dealt with.They claim to offer an online platform.However this only works for uk stocks.if you try and phone you are stuck in a que and then when you get through you are asked endless security questions. If you complain you are provided with email responses which offer tea and sympathy. “Losing a longstanding customer”

I have been with Selftrade for many years with very substantial accounts but I have now decided to move everything elsewhere. We needed to move securities between accounts and were trying to move some in from another broker but it ha been a chapter of neglect and errors. “Making errors with my money”

I am still trying to resolve two serious issues with Selftrade. 1. I instructed them to transfer shares from another provider to Selftrade and they instructed the other provider to sell them! Issue not yet resolved. 2. I placed a limit order for 893 pence (GBX) and it converted that into 8.93 pence (GBX). They tell me I entered the data wrongly, but it tested the system again and it converted the 893 to 8.93. Consequently I missed a purchase. Issue still not resolved. “Hopeless!”

I have been incredibly patient with Selftrade though all their troubles and I hoped that the Equiniti move would signal real improvements. It basically does everything we want if they could only just deliver the basic service. My current beef is that we want to finalise our tax returns but Selftrade can't produce last year's tax numbers covering the period after the transfer to Equiniti. I too have been a customer of Com Direct, however during the period when it traded as Selftrade but before its takeover by Equiniti my wife and I suffered numerous problems. The most serious was when for a period of months my wife could not access her account. Selftrade tried to put the blame on our computer set-up until they were forced to admit it was a system fault - Equiniti were already responsible for the IT work. Nothing changes. My wife requested that her ISA be transferred and after nine weeks it still had not been completed. It was pointed out that such transfers should be completed withing 6 weeks (actually 30 working days) - Selftrade tried to claim that the period is 40 days - even so that limit had already been exceeded!!
I agree with the advice: get your transfer in place soon but prepare for a long wait.

“Can't Purchase Shares”

We have 2 ISA accounts , both have cash available but can't buy shares as cash is on both shown as 0. I guess all accounts are stuck. I Have been with Selftrade for many years but since being taken over by Equiniti all aspects of the service has been diabolical. I have now started the process of transferring my shares to a different stock broker but even this is taking an excessive amount of time due to Selftrade/Equiniti. “Terrible, terrible service and website”

This company is just not fit for purpose. Everything is a total headache, they lose documents, the website is just terrible. I was applying for a mortgage and they don't even have a function to print a statement of account with your name on it etc. I had to call them so many times just to get this sent to me and what was sent was just pathetic I am surprised the mortgage company accepted it as proof. I was a customer of this company for many years beginning when they were known as Comdirect. I was very happy until this dreadful transfer to Equiniti. I found the dealing platform was painfully slow to load. (In answer to a previous post I believe that they did not use the same platform as Selftrade is that Selftrade did not own the software). You were lucky. You got away from Equinity. iWeb sent my request for transfer on 1st May 2015, They got valuation for the dealing account, but Equinity lost the ISA transfer request. A month later iWeb asked me 'do I want this transfer done or not', as they have not heard from Equinity. Equinity lost the paper work, so I asked iWeb to send a certified copy to them, they have yet to receive.
At least Equinity can do two things, forget account maintenance charges, until they finish the transfer and inform via secure post, the progress of my transfer.
This is vital, as I am transferring all four family accounts, and a CTF. It takes them more than two weeks to transfer Cash out of CTF, which should have been done in minutes.
