Having read recent comments and reviews, I cannot but agree with all of the comments made. I am the Hon Sec of a small investment club and earlier on in 2014 went through the very onerous process of providing ID and bank information for each member as part of their records review. “Worst service ever”

Customer service is non existing. They treat you horribly. Lock your account with no reason and without any warning. They do not even react to your emails. “Not recommended”

My daughter was buying a house and had cash sitting in her dealing account for part of a deposit. Selftrade refused to transfer the funds and it almost caused the deal to collapse. My solicitor had to send them the legal paperwork and threaten to sue before they would release the funds. They are still chasing her for some details. Amongst a number of things who are terrible at Selftrade are: - most of the funds advertised on the font page are not available for sale. Selftrade review My mother died in June and prior to that I was attorney for her affairs. Her house was sold in April this year and I notified Selftrade shortly afterwards; however, they continued to send letters to her old address. Selftrade have decided to interrogate all their customers about how they get their money, how long they have been employed, what their job title is, how much do they earn, how did your dear deceased granny make that money she left you in her will, how much are you worth in total and how often have you cheated on your wife/husband. This is also my experience, when I moved money in, they insisted I get documents relating to the source then I tried to complete on my house and they froze my account - now they are asking for documents to be translated as the place is abroad. If I don't complete soon I will have to pay a penalty and we have a move out date. I just asked them to move all the money to my usual UK bank account. I don't think I want to give them any more of my savings and investments. They seem to think it is their money.

They may just be fulfilling their responsibilities required by the anti-money laundering regulations but, the way they have gone about it and in particular, THAT form, have left me seething. “Selftrade demand detailed financial information with...”

Like the previous reviwer I have also received a 'Records Review Form' from Selftrade. The letter and FAQs that come with the form make it clear that access to my account will be restricted and possibly suspended unless the form is completed to their satisfaction. “Intrusive questionaire”

I have had an ISA account with selftrade for a few years. Last year they put me through hell by requesting all sorts of certified(expensive!) documents by threatening to lock my account.I jumped through all their hoops. My mistake was that I didn't close my account with them immediately afterwards. They are basically assuming I am a criminal unless I prove otherwise. “PARTING COMPANY WITH SELFTRADE”

I have been a Selftrade user since 2007 NOT ANY MORE! Initially I found them reasonable and their website OK. I liked their format and the ability to re-invest dividends. About two years ago they started to go down hill with a new website which was confusing and hard to navigate. Then I found they didn't answer emails. I've had an account with this firm for ten years. They used to be a good little firm working with small investors dealing with a personal touch. They are now everything the small investor wants to avoid. Dealing with this company now is everything you read in the other reviews here. “Know Your Customers K.Y.C. - processing time lag.”

The current processing of K.Y.C. is becomming more than a little frustrating. I don't know for sure if this process is affecting all account/holders, selected accounts, but all who are suffering meantime will have found that they are "locked out of their accounts". I am having the exact same problem with the KYC issue. It is now over a month since my account has been locked and when I rang customer services they admitted they are struggling to deal with the backlog associated the the KYC processing.

I too am wondering what the legal implications are given that I am not able to liquidate my investments - the market has been very volatile the past few weeks and I am stuck due to administration issues at my provider. Pity the poor people who need to withdraw assets to help them with their deposits for a home....

“I'm Taking my Investments away from Selftrade”
