“Illegal Charges resulting in overdue balance”

I signed a contract with ADT in late 2009, meaning my contract was up in late 2014. Although I moved from my original address in 2013, I opted to continue to make the monthly payments versus terminating the contract and paying the lump sum. I did not continue the services at my new address as it was not allowed in the high rise in D.C. I contacted ADT to give them a new address and never received any statements at this address. “Missold Alarm”

A sales guy came round the door two years ago and sold us an alarm under the premise that we took out a monitored alarm for 2 years then after that the alarm is ours to keep and would still work as a static alarm! THIS WAS A LIE!! Apparently ADT are now saying that this alarm only works if it is monitored!!!! “Maintainance visit, hidden charges.”

Been with ADT for 20+ years. I pay an annual maintainance fee. Did a routine inspection early August 2015. Last one was February 13. Just received an invoice for £50 for a replacement battery which the engineer omitted to inform me about. He was here 10 mins. When I called ADT I was told the battery was not covered under the annual contract. “Shambolic company ”

Stay away from this company. We are in disputed over an invoice which not only arrived 4 months later than the engineer visited but is priced at 499.20 for labour costs of a 45 minute visit. We are a business and had recently suffered a break in, the costs were for looking at our tagging system which we were told was un repairable. All the engineer did was test it and conclude it was knackered. This works out at over £10 per minute for a job which wasn't even repaired.i was never at any point… Read Full Review

“Beware of callout charges”

Alarm was dirt cheap but ongoing monthly costs are daylight robbery compared with other firms - £45 per month!!! Also I have been charged £184 for a call out lasting under 1 hour labour only. They also tried to charge me nearly £50 for a battery at the last service. The engineer advised me to buy a better battery myself and he would fit next time he was passing. “Please - Aviod at all costs!!”

ADT will not cover our new property as there is an existing system already in place. On discussing with their cancellations team and our contract is canceled - we are not informed of the cancellation fee and are passed around their call centers in order to obtain (after they have canceled the contract) We email our complaint to their UK MD and our file is reviewed, we are told the cancellation is c£500, that we find this unreasonable as they cannot continue our service, We are told the fee… Read Full Review

I am a new client for ADT. The only reason I am going with ADT is because it is included in my HOA monthly fee. I have been trying for two weeks to get my service connected. The people are so very rude and have no skills. Three times I have requested a manager to contact me as so far no call. “Terrible support”

I'll keep this short because i'm currently too angry to write the long version! We've had an ADT monitored system for 7 years. In that time, we have had 11 call outs for technical issues, i.e the system said there was a fault with the system. Those call outs are not straight forward. On numerous occasions they didn't turn up and we had to re-book. As self employed people, it costs us to stay at home. “Avoid this company ”

I have been a customer of ADT since 2007, I recently had a problem with my alarm system and call for an engineer who advised me that it was my battery and proceeded to replace. To my suprise he left me with a bill for £30 and said it should have been replaced when I had my annual service and laughed. I have never ever been charged for a battery when I called customer service they proceeded to tell me that it's tough deal with it and pay the £30 which is what it costs. “burn your money, it better value”

i unfortunately fell for the patter, two years later i have now cancelled my direct debit and they can go whistle. from day one. the piece of insulation tape they call pet sensitive over a sensor and charge u extra for to the no shows from engineers to the lack of help from customer service. they promise you phone calls to key holders when alarm goes off,,,,,,,, i had one call to the last number given nothing else and the alarm as gone off a few times. the engineers never come when the… Read Full Review

“Incompetent beyond belief”

AVOID AVOID AVOID I bought one of their systems, after a year it failed and was advised by the repair man that it would never have worked properly in my remote location owing to the fact that it relied on decent reception from mobile phone masts. “Absolute sharks - avoid contacts that keep you for life!”

I would avoid ADT like the plague. Had nightmare which went on for four weeks of telephone calls when I tried to transfer my contract as I had moved house. I was passed from pillar to post and dealt with rude staff who clearly didn't have a clue what they were doing. We have just had a monitored ADT alarm installed... What a nightmare, the engineer left a hell of a mess. then the alarm would not disarm.. i actually had to take it off the wall to silence it. ADT never rang. so i rang them and asked if there was a fault with my alarm. they said we have a detection, and all the sensors in the house have detected movement, also shows the tamper has gone off. but we figured it was you so didn't phone. Like so many reviews on here, I too wish I had investigated them before I purchased their alarm and CCTV system. This is the very first review I have ever written, but have do so to try and warn others NOT to deal with such an awful company. I had an intruder, which was captured by my very expensive CCTV system. The police wanted a copy of the footage. When I tried to do this, the whole system froze. “abysmal service”

Because of a power cut whilst we were away, ADT were instructed to cancel any direct to police intruder alarm calls whilst the electrician was on site restoring the power. They agreed to the request then totally ignored it. Police logged two false alarms which now causes insurance problems. Because of their incompetence, we cancelled our contract but they have continued to take payments. I have now given them 14 days to refund before I start Court proceedings.
