I bought this 0.22 rifle new for £299.99 after it being recommended to me by other owners. Reviews were good for this rifle so I expected it to perform as accurately as the said it would. However from the start when zeroing the scope, the allen key provided in the pack would not turn one of the screws on the scope mounting: managing to twist by might and main with the other screws loose I was able to set the scope upright.
The bolt action appeared stiff and the 8-shot magazines which came with the rifle failed to index correctly, damaging the skirts of the Long Range Gold pellets used This resulted in a four inch group at 15 yards with one pellet in the bull! Penetration was excellent but the magazine needed to be adjusted by hand in order to allow the probe to inset the pellets more smoothly into the breech. After firing some 200 pellets with the rifle in my padded vee-block I managed to achieve a two inch group. The next group was almost as bad as the first group fired! I could not believe it. I contacted the dealer/seller asking for my money back after comparing performance by personally using an Air-Arms 410 which consistently placed pellets through the same hole in target cards at 15 yards in front of an experienced shooter to whom the A-A 410 belonged. Meeting the dealer, and complaining bitterly, the money for the rifle, a 12G adaptor and the larger bottle, was refunded immediately without argument.
I do not advise anyone to even consider buying a Umarex 850 AirMagnum despite the good reviews published.
The best that I can say is that this could have been the manufacturing equivalent of the 'Friday Car'. However once bitten twice shy I will not buy another air rifle without first witnessing the dealer, or a marksman appointed by the dealer producing satisfactory and acceptable grouping.

An excellent gun with brilliant accuracy and easy handling and reloading and is easily up there with tournament guns. Accuracy, handling, ease of elevation/range adjustment and exellent and easy reloading.

I have the newer Carbine 850 .22 and I'm very impressed. It comes with two 8 shots mags,1 88g co2 bottle and a fitted silencer. It has no open sights so you have to fit a scope( I've fitted mine with a tasco 3.5-10x40).The rifles mechanics feel very well made and robust. Vorspr....well ya get the idea. On test the gun performs like a dream zero'd at 30m It was easy to get same hole groupings. Very impressive. The 88g co2 bottle gave me 190ish shots before i noticed a drop in power. So not bad re ...

I have had so many people comment on the gun...and its so accurate. I think it looks amazing with scope silencer and bi-pod stand. There are no bad points about the Umarex 850 air rifle.

The body is hard and very durable the stock and bolt action section are the best i have seen on co2 rifles that have bolt action. The power is spot on the money its about 11.4 o about 11.8 but when the gas runs out it will drop to about 4.8 but this is only after about 180 shots at full power.this rifle can be used as a hunting rifle for birds rats and rabbits.the effective kill range on his rifle is about 30 to about 50 meters and still packs a punch at this range.he accuracy is out of this wo ...

This is a great light hunting gun. It was my first encounter with a gas gun and i have been very happy with it so far. I've taken down wood pigeon, squirrel, crows and magpies with no prob. Up to 35 yards. The gun I'm using is a .177, fitted with a set of AGS 3-9x40 scopes and accupell pellets. It also comes in at a very reasonable cost. And very much looks the part.

The Umarex 850 Air Magnum is a GREAT gun! It really looks the part. It's sleek design gives it the look of a realistic rifle. It doesn't look like an AIR rifle, just a rifle....and this realism demands respect and awe from anyone who sees you shooting it.

The ABS plastic body is really tough, and the build-quality is brilliant. The magazine is an 8 shot rotary clip and is also made of ABS plastic and a metal gear part. The barrel is top notch and blued brilliantly.
