Avoid Cardif Pinnacle at all costs. To give you some background I am a self employed drilling materials co-ordinator working in the North Sea on the oilrigs therefore I took on a policy to cover Accident, Sickness & Unemployment back in December 2004. Everything was fine, Pinnacle was getting monthly payments, I was or thought I was covered then came the recession and the oil companies stopped drilling, my contract came to an end and I was forced to seek Job Seekers Allowance and suspend my company. I got Pinnacles claim form filled in including the bit from my accountant and the Job Centre and submitted it. A few days later I got a letter from Pinnacle asking for six months bank statements and confirmation that the accounts to cessate the business had been prepared and submitted to the HM Revenue & Customs. After several phone calls to explain this the outcome is that Pinnacle want my business total shut down, including the bank account before any claim can progress. I tried to explain that by closing down the business completely makes me unemployable in my trade as I work contracts with oil & gas operators and not one day jobs here and there. Needless to say this does not concern Pinnacle and I have now been forced to ditch Pinnacle and lose all the monies paid to them. I tried calling them several times to cancel the policy but they did not return my calls so I cancelled the direct debt. They finally sent me a letter saying they couldn't get the monthly payment and if not paid in ten days then they would cancel the policy, no phone call, no questions why they couldn't get paid just we are cancelling. Thanks Cardif Pinnacle I've really enjoyed you taking my money for the past five years.

We have received a letter today from Pinnacle Mortgage Protection Insurance telling us that the Mortgage Protection policy monthly premium was going to increase by 30%. I telephoned Pinnacle last week to ask for a claim form as my husband was made redundant in February. The claim form has not arrived. The mortgage is interest only supported by 2 endowment policies - more dodgy insurance! Over the years we have considerably reduced the capital owing by paying off various amounts of money when we ...

I have just received notification of a 28% increase in my monthly premium with Pinnacle Mortgage Protection Insurance, from £57 to £72 per month.I should be grateful because they have prompted me to look into this insurance policy and search for an alternative product.I have been with them for 13 years, and not made a claim, and they are blaming "hard times" as their justification for such a hike...!!I'm going to switch to British insurance; this site has given it good reviews. ...

I have to say that i have had good service from Pinnacle on their Helpucover insurance.
When i had a car accident that put me off work, they paid out.
Maybe they've changed the way the approach things now, as the other comments are quite old, and I believe the Financial Services Authority has stepped in to regulate all insurance sales now.
I bought my policy through the mortgage arrangers
    not my mortgage lender.
Dont know if that makes a diference, but i have read somewhere that it is always bes ...

I have had a policy with pinnacle for a few years now,I have recently made a claim due to being off work for 4 weeks following an operation. When I originally took out the policy the cover was paid back to the 1st day(I know this as I claimed in 2001 when I was made redundant)now they have told me I dont, I get payment AFTER the 30 days.the policy must have changed at some point and I wasnt informed. I have also just found out I have been paying a couple of pounds more a month than a new custome ...

Pinnacle have made every excuse in the book and more not to make a Mortgage Protection Insurance payment on time. They want a signed declaration from my doctor every month at a cost of £17.50 a time. I got charged hundreds of pounds by the company First National bank, and later by G.E. Money, and the loan amount at the end of the period of sickness was the same as when the claim started, so it ended up costing me more than that, if you count 18 declarations at £17.50 a time.

Our mortgage protection insurance policy was with M&S originally, and it was transferred to Pinnacle about 2 years ago.

Pinnacle are an absolute nightmare! When you are between a rock and a hard place the last thing you need is an insurance company like them behind you. They will do anything; absolutely anything to get out of paying you.

I don't care how cheap it is, if in the terms and conditions it says,
"You are not covered if, a condition which you knew about at the start date,or which you sought or received advice from any doctor during the 12 months immediatly before the start date."

ie, ever suffered depression, panic attacks etc..... if it's happened in your life time, forget about claiming! At least that's what the sales guys say!!

Policys like with the Halifax cost nearly double, but pay out for the same condit ...

I took the salary protect policy from Pinnacle. Policy terms were £20.40 per month, (started Oct) with 120 day exclusion period and 30 day excess.

New terms, £31.44 per month, with 180 days exclusion, which means I now have an extra 2 months added to the initial period. So if I get made redundent in a months time I will not be covered. Also the 30 days excess has increased to 60.

I wonder if this is the norm with all policies?? Regardless, if I sign up for something how can su ...

    Avoid Pinnacle like the plague!
My policy was originally with Marks and Spencer...great service. M&S stopped providing this product ac ouple of years ago and transferred all policies to Pinnacle.
After being made redundant in 2003, I have had only two payments from them (I should have had 6) It was like drawing teeth to get these payments, writing letters to them etc, before a senior person at M&S intervened and made them provide the first payment. They invent all sorts of detail in an attemp ...
