I purchased a wok from Activeconcepts on line on April, 2011. It was very happy to use it at the beginning, but started from last few months, it started to stick since there is some residues that I could not clean up even I tried shock treatment. After I contacted the customer services, they told me no free change since it is due to lack of maintenance. I have to pay over $250 to get another new back. Firstly, I bought just a frying pan and was absolutely overjoyed with it's ease of use and efficiency. Since then I have bought a casserole pot, a saucepan and a griddle pan; they are all just as good. Superb build quality and so, so easy to clean; nothing sticks. spent a fortune on these pots $1600.00 aqnd have had nothing but trouble, dealer changes make it almost impossible to keep up with. we bought these at the toronto home show way back and have a ton trouble.
the fact is i could have spent nothing for the same trouble i have now.

I found this review not helpful because...Gastrolux supports their customers very well. If you do a simple search for Gastrolux, you will find a distributor. There is a 20 year warranty, and they WILL honor it. We have had one replaced as I dropped it and broke the handle, AFTER 9 YEARS, they sent me a replacement right away. We bought ours 2 pans at the Toronto home show many years ago and are not impressed with the pans either. The one I have used the most is not stick free any longer and now has chipped right in the middle. A very small one, but I do not feel safe using it anymore. We have been going to Home shows looking for them as well, but they are not to be seen ??????????????
They are not what they are cracked to be at all.

When I lived in Europe in the 1990's I bought a Gastrolux and after trying one piece, immediately bought others (and threw out all of my American cookware!). I have had all pieces for over 15 years and am only now starting to think about replacing a few, most heavily used ones. I always use non-stick utensils, wood or plastic, follow the directions for heating and adding oil, occasionally cleaning with oil and salt as directed, and never put the pots in the dishwasher. I was sold these pans as they where supposed to be the best of the best and totally non stick. At first i was convinced but within 6 mths...not!
I have thrown one frying pan out and are about to do the same to the other! The Griddle is loosing it coating and I have it protected throughout. What is as disappointing is the lack of customer care from the shop (Cooks of Stafford UK)blaming not cleaning the pans correctly - which i did to the letter and as others have stated not using metal...

I absolutely love the cookware. I just purchased my fourth piece because I am so happy with it. It comes up like new every time I wash it and I can cook on high temperatures without ruining the pan. We absolutely love our Gastrolux cookware. We have the Wok, and two frying pans, as well as two saute' pans. I have had to replace the glass lids, as we have broke them several times, but can order them online at www.activeconcepts.ca, and delivery is very fast.
We found the key is to wash the cookware when it is hot, this helps to reduce the build up of food so nothing sticks. It provides a very even heat, and can go right into the oven. The best product ever.

We recently purchased 4 pieces of Gastrolux cookware as part of our wedding money received, and absolutely love the product. It is far better than any other products we have tried, and we have tried them all. It has a very easy to clean non stick surface, and as long as you wash the product when it is hot, it cleans up nicely. I have seen several reviews that are not favorable about Gastrolux, only to disagree with them all. If this cookware is kept clean, and not abused, it will last forever. We have owned the product for 13 years, and have continued to add to the collection. We had one problem with a handle, and it was replaced under the warranty program in a timely manner. First 6 month, it was an awesome pan, but after using six month, it is stick and coating off from this pan. And Gastrolux Cookware doesn ' t honor their warranty, they won ' t give you any responses when I tried to claim. I spent $300 for this pan that same value with a $30 pan. (read more)

It is not that widely known, but you can buy it from a website at www.activeconcepts.ca It is so far the best cookware we have found. We have owned Gastrolux cookware now for approximately 8 years. It was an invenstment, and with any high priced items, we take good care of the product. We have read several negative remarks, and have to say that the only way this product would become defective, is through improper care. It is not cheep cookware, treat it like an investment. For 5 years the Gastrolux Cookware pans were awesome. They did not warp, very easy to clean, and they heated evenly. After 5 years the finish is totally worn off. If you fry anything, it is terrible to clean (worse than any other pan we have had) Although we paid $500; the company would replace the pans for $197 and made it sound like they were doing us a favor. You need to throw the pans out at 5 years. (read more)

I am very impressed with the Gastrolux Cookware and would definitely recommend these pans. I have only one large frying pan, one large roaster type and a saucepan and they do most all of what I need. I followed the manufacturers care instructions to the letter for my Gastrolux Cookware. In fact I was even more careful than that. I only ever used wooden utensils and the pan never went in the dishwasher. However, within two week, I noticed that the coating was coming off around the inside and outside of the rim and the rim had even chipped in one place. This could only have happened on the draining board. I was really disappointed as I had expected the pan to be robust.

There were only 2 UK distributors that I could find and both were out of stock of most of the range and not getting more supplies in for several months. I think Gastrolux really do need to improve the availability of their product.
I found the frying pan works best if you heat it up high first before adding food such as eggs.
I bought the saucepans with 2 handles which are great although the smallest is 20cm and a bit big for heating up small amounts. It would be great if they did smaller...

I have a large two handled frying pan which I bought from the Greenpeace catalogue last year. There is still not a mark on it, no fat is needed and nothing has stuck to it. Really excellent quality. Buy one if you can find one they are not easy to come by unless you can get to Brent Cross.

I have owned Gastrolux cookware for over 5 years, and it is absolutely the best non-stick cookware available! It is a German company, with not much exposure in North America; however, it is available online. It is a dream to cook with, as we don't need to use oils, and it cleans up spotless with no scrubbing. I was hesitant on the price, but I have been extremely happy overall, and I would highly recommend Gastrolux to anyone that is looking at investing in quality cookware. (read more)

I have to agree with the Happy Cooker. Over the years I have spent a ton of money on what I was told was the "Best" cookware. However, it never turned out that way until now. I bought am 11" Saute' pan, model 228, and it truly is the "Best" cookware I have ever used. Expensive, yes, but well worth the price. It has a fantastic non-stick surface, that doesn't come off. It has no chemicals like Teflon, as I investigated that thoroughly, and the entire piece can go in the oven, even the glass lid. I wish I would have bought Gastrolux when I was younger. I wonder how much money I would have saved from not throwing out the cheaper pans. A good investment!

I have had my gastrolux pot for about five years to begin with it was great then gradually food began to stick and now the surface has started to wear, its a great shame as it was extremely useful on the cooker and into the oven. great but due to the cost i dont think i can afford to replace it and i'm not sure that i would as for the money £100.00 is it good value mmm?
