Good Points: I installed this program 1 week ago and have been very impressed with it. At 8:00AM every morning it is on the job scanning my computer. The day before I installed it, I had installed Avast which was a disaster so I uninstalled it and the following day installed Grisoft, the free edition. I am going to buy the full version to get the complete package. The first day that I used it, it cleaned up the viruses and 4 trogans that I didn't even know I had. I am really impressed with it. Others that I have spoke with said that it was even better than Norton. I would highly recommend it.

General comments: Grisoft AVG anti virus Free Edition is very easy to download and I went to their help center to configure my gmail and had no problem at all. I have only used a computer for 1 1/2 years now and found this product and its help center very good. This company is a lifesaver. Thank you.

Friendly for new users, easy to navigate and use, however due to the following ad points I do not recommend Grisoft AVG. This Anti Virus software for me has a bad canning system I had a trojan and I had this piece of software and I didn't even detect it.

I have been using for AV Anti-virus for some time now and it has never let me down - till now! Today 20/02/2008 I've run AVG 7.5 (version 7.5.516 with virus base 269.20.9/1290) virus test on my Win95/Win2000 dual-boot PC. The test found the following file(s) as threat(s): File Results/Infection Path ---- ------------------ ---- 1) DELETE.BAT Virus Found BAT/Deleter C:\IMAGE\TOOLS\DELETE.BAT 2) DELETE.BAT Vir ...

There's no point in paying for AV software such as Norton and Macafee when you can get a sound product like AVG for free. I didn't even bother installing the free copy of Norton security center. I got recently from my broadband provider as AVG is just as effective and less intrusive.

I have used this for about 18 months on my brothers PC and it uses barely any resources which is great. However, the main purpose of an anti virus is to protect the PC and AVG has scored pretty poorly compared to others in recent AV tests. It does not use heuristics, which means it cannot detect newly or yet to be discovered threats.I replaced AVG on my brothers PC with Avira AntiVir Classic (which is also free) and it detected 3 tro jans that AVG had missed. It is also even lighter than AVG on s ...

I still use Grisoft AVG as my preferred anti-virus application (compared to others I've tried including McAfee, Norton, NOD32, eScan and Kaspersky), though I do not recommend their anti-spyware and firewall. The most effective anti-spyware is Spyware Doctor IMO (out of dozens I've tested), and out of the few firewalls I've tried, I still stick with Kaspersky. AVG seems to find viruses only listed in its database. Files that aren't in AVG's database as a virus, but could potentially be viruses, ...

AVG is a sound anti-virus product produced by Grisoft a company part owned by Intel. It offers a slightly cut down version of the Pro product, free to non-profit home users, it offers good real time cover and e-mail scan. It has however lost some of the features available in the pro version and while the coverage is unaffected, some of the changes made can be inconvenient, for example the scan scheduler is reduced to either a full scan every day, which is overkill, or nothing. This effectively m ...

When I bought my computer a few years ago I also purchased Norton Internet security to "ensure" that I didn't get any nasty viruses/trojans. After the years updates ran out it started to annoy me so I got rid of it. One of my friends recommended AVG., so I installed it and to be honest it has been great/ It hardly seems to take up any memory and it works really well. The only problem I had was when I installed Windows Vista. AVG worked, but the resident scanner didn't, which is a problem ...

First, this software is not designed to detect malware and all Trojan viri. It is impossible for one application to "do it all". Secondly, a person who has a understanding of security protection, would never choose a "Suite" of products as their sole layer(s) of protection. Lastly, as I have stated above, a person needs to provide layers of protection. Take the time to understand what each company and their respective products have to offer. By using this approach a person could establish ...

I have used Grisoft Software AVG 6.0 Free Edition in previous companies and have found it superior to other virus detectors. It locates virus better than Norton and often Norton is disabled to allow AVG to work effectively.

I highly suggest getting the AVG anti virus software. It's fun and entertaining because you can put those mean ugly viruses in to jail house vaults. The program makes me feel in control, and also confident that my computer is safe. Antivirus protection like Norton/Symantec are too exploited, and they don't always fix the problem. They detect viruses and quarantine them, but they don't always delete them (I know from experience). Do yourself a favour and get AVG.

Grisoft's AVG Anti Virus software is a truly magnificent program! It works great on all systems, and it hardly impacts performance. (unlike Mcafee and Symantec). It runs silently, and never needs any user intervention when it is set up properly.

I'm using version 7 of the AVG Anti Virus software, and it is so easy to use. I have to update manually because of my firewall settings, but that's OK. It takes about 10 seconds to check, download, and install any new updates. I use file sharing programs from time to time, and AVG has alerted me on at least 3 occasions that I'm downloading something evil. The Symantec Corporate Edition didn't even see it. I hope my company didn't pay too much for that useless stuff. AVG gave me options abo ...

Grisoft Software AVG 6.0 Free Edition starts automatically with Windows and runs in the background, providing real-time virus protection. It has a very low overhead and seems to be extremely unobtrusive. At no time does the system seem to run slower or exhibit any problems with AVG running in the background which is something you can't say about some commercial antivirus software.

It has to be said - Grisoft AVG version 6 is best! You can't download this version from the website now, unfortunately, but up-dates are regular and often - I pity those who have to use version 7 - it's OK but not as good. I fix/repair computers for people who have problems, and I despair at the amount of problems caused by viruses/worms that Norton simply does not detect however strict the up-dating may be! Let's face it - Norton hogs your machine, slows it down, and does not do the job ...

I would definitely recommend Grisoft AVG. I run my own computer business and I am often presented with computers with virus problems, sometimes even when other known brand anti-virus software is installed and reasonably up to date. Installing and scanning with AVG has always fixed the problem. I install AVG on all private computers which do not have a-v protection; or have problems despite and instaleld a-v; or when the installed a-v has expired. I usually also install Spybot.

Grisoft AVG Version 7 works well. It doesn't seem to hog the processor and disk like Norton. The autoupdate and schedule scan features are easy to use and are reliable. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a virus scanner. I run it in conjunction with Kerio firewall and between them have stopped all virus and spyware attacks on my PC.
