I paid my card off in full prior to the due date, yet they still charged me interest! I phoned the customer survice twice about this and both times they said it was because the interest is charged on daily basis! So I guess they have started doing what another reviewer has also said, they charge interest from the day you make a purchase and not from the due date if you miss payment! AVOID at all costs!!!! My latest MINT Credit Card statement includes an interest charge relating to recent purchase transactions completed since my previous monthly statement. When I telephoned MINT to query this charge, I was advised that interest charges had been applied IMMEDIATELY (i.e. from the transaction date) on my recent purchases because I had an ongoing interest-free transfer balance on my account. This charge is neither fair nor transparent. I was not made aware that whilst repaying a ‘0% Balance... (read more)

I have just paid off the balance left on this card in full - and will never use MINT/RBS again, because: Earlier in this year they cashed a cheque payment I sent them for £50 for £5000 in error. Fortunately, my own bank quickly got the cheque declined and were very helpful. Unlike MINT. I called them after contacting my own bank and spoke to a man with all the customer service skills of a dead slug. He offered no apology or explanation for their cock up and was only interested in... Sent 5 letters about this amount all took 9 days to arrive - 8 days after i had cleared the balance
I have been a customer since they set up with no problems.

Following a consumer dispute regarding a product purchased on my Mint card, Mint refused to help. Following empowering a solicitor to act on my behalf it was revealed that Mint, (despite attempts to wash their hands of the problem) had a legal responsibility involving Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Would you trust a credit card company that gets your balance wrong to the tune of £2,000?
Last month Mint's automated system said I owed less than my receipts prove. Didn't want any nasty surprises later, so spoke to the call centre, who said they'd sort it out. Rang again a week ago to check my balance - and was quoted three separate figures between £1800 and £4000, all in the course of the same call! The advisor also told me to ignore my next statement as it would be wrong, but not to...

I too took out a Mint card. I applied on line and was accepted immediately. I got the free 0% interest on balance transfer rate, so I transferred a couple of hundred pounds from another card. All was ok and I made four payments off the balance, on time.
The next payment I paid 3 days before the due date and it didn't clear in time. They charged me £12 late fee and immediately cancelled the 'interest free' agreement and added £25 interest and another £13 payment protection insurance, which...

I was surprised this month to receive my credit card statement from Mint, which informed me I was £37 over my limit and will be charged a late fee and an overlimit fee.
3 weeks prior to this i had called in to the automated system and paid in £50 which would have met my minimum payment and kept me well under the my maximum limit.
Obviously I was perplexed and questioned whether i had taken the details done it correctly or indeed if I had called in.

Im a platinum MINT credit card customer and have been flawlessly managing my card for over 4 years and was given a very competetive rate. This month they increased my interest rate by a staggering 13%. When I called to complain about this they quoted 'Terms & Conditions' allowed them to increase whenever they wanted and to what rate they wanted and refused to amend the rate. I believed this to be wholly unacceptable and therefore closed my account without further ado. I feel for those who... (read more)

I have had my Mint credit card for 3 years, and I have never had any problems with their service. When I applied for my card there was no charge for balance transfers. However, they now charge at 2.9%, which is around the same for most credit cards. Something has gone badly wrong with this card. It was never cheap, but it had the best-trained, most efficient and most helpful customer service people. Either morale has slumped badly or they're employing people with minimal charm and training, or the card is under new management who seem determined to lift as much money as it can, and to disregard the normal process of keeping customers informed of changes regarding the Mint credit card. The Mint credit card seems to be a good card. I came across Mint by seeing the excellent adverts on TV. This has just happened to me.

Mint didn't tell me my credit card had been cancelled. I tried using my card and it kept coming up declined.

I had to ring up and find out that the loss recovery department were dealing with the case.

They must give 30 days notice before cancelling an account. The chances are, they've left negative ratings on your credit scores also.
Written on: 14/10/2006
Did you get a reason? Because Mint credit card say they don't have to give you one. My daughter paid hers on time every month, and only ever had a small limit anyway. Her credit file is fine, but they are owned by NatWest bank, who are rubbish anyway.
Written on: 15/10/2006
Lenders are under no obligations to tell you why. However, you can ask for the name and address of the credit file agency they used when searching you.

If they've changed their lending policy, they don't have to tell you why you didn't pass, but they do have to give you a certain amount of notice. The most common notice period is 28 days.

In MINT's case, it's 30 days.

I'm currently going through the complaint channels of the customer service team, and I'm going to see where that gets me. Depending on the action taken (I've been ringing up for almost 2 weeks now and had unsatisfactory action taken) I may take them to the FOS.

It's funny, because I asked for a copy of the internal complaints procedure and a new Direct Debit form... Only the DD form came. How surprising!

I would be interested to see what their answer is, as I got "that's it! You can't do anything about it". Mint gave my daughter a credit card, then 6 months down the line with only a 300 limit, they withdraw for now reason. Strange! Maybe we should have pursued it.

The 8p per minute should be reviewed, I believe BT gets 2 or 3p , and Mint pockets the difference,

Also operators should be a bit more courteous, not with the don't care attitude....

I too had exactly the same problem. Customer Service have told me they are charging interest on daily basis from when you make the purchase! even though I had paid the bill in full before the "deadline", I still had to pay an interest. I phoned twice and the customer service just did not want to know ....AVOID Mint at all costs (I have been with them for many years).
