“First class again!”

★★★★★

written by petegeoff on 16/10/2014

Checked my app for Virgin account. One entry listed a call to a mobile in New Zealand, 25 seconds, 90 pence. I called Virgin. Very helpful person, I think in the Philipines. Explained my query. Of course, she had no way of explaining why this called showed up. Number not stored in my phone. The number belongs to a cousin in NZ. She credited me the cost and put a block on calling abroad. I remembered later that I had once called that number from a Virgin payg phone more than five years ago! Amazing how numbers are stored for so long. Bit scary really. No escaping from whom we have called! The moral of this is, check your usage! I've only ever had to query a few things with Virgin but each time the service is first class.

“Highly impressive customer service and pricing”

★★★★★

written by ke200 on 25/07/2014

I'm not sure why there are so many low ratings, as my experience over the 4 or so years I've been with Virgin has been fantastic. I started out with a £15 a month tariff and a contract phone with no major issues. When it came time to upgrade, I was offered 1gb of data, unlimited text and 200 minutes at around £8.50 a month. I was happy to take this and used it for a year before encountering a problem with my bill - they charged too much. I called up and they offered to get it rectified, though I couldn't get my old tariff at that price again. They offered me 2gb of data, unlimited texts and 250 minutes instead... for £8 a month! I didn't think they'd be able to offer that package at that price. The customer service is also amazing. The team are friendly and understand your inquiry all of the time. They go the extra mile too. I had run out of minutes for my month and really needed extra minutes to arrange accommodation for next year. While I wasn't able to purchase extra minutes as a bundle as I'd have liked, the rep gave me 20 minute for free until my next month's allowance kicked in. The out of call costs are fairly outrageous but service goes above and beyond what they could have done. I also had a friendly chat about the new phones they had out while discussing my new contract, and rather than up-selling the rep offered a similar price to what I had before, which is exactly what I was after. After purchasing a pay as you go phone with the mandatory credit, I was also refunded the credit onto my contract package, effectively discounting the phone by £20! I think the communication emails could be clearer, though the customer service reps always say they'll look different to what they actually charge. E.g. I received a text saying my tariff would be £15 where it's actually £8, and my bill won't be updated to confirm I'm only being charged £16 and not £32 as the incorrect bill states. The coverage for texts and calls is almost always spot on, but can be a bit shoddy for data at times. It mostly works, but there are some spots where I just can't connect despite it having full signal. So there are a few minor gripes which I'm sure most if not all the networks also have, but otherwise, I've never had such a good experience as above with any other network; I've been on T-mobile, Asda and Vodafone before, and Virgin is by far the best.

“Great customer services”

★★★★★

written by bigbird25059815 on 06/03/2014

I must be honest I have an old Nokia handset & a virgin pay as you go contract. I cannot fault the network & their level of customer services I think is superb. I know that there is many other competitors out there but my £10 go along way plus I have very good coverage for a rural area so all in all I am one very happy customer who is happy to use virgin for the foreseeable future. Believe me I used to be with 02 but Virgin but them to shame! I know that people like to complain but for what I see virgin are good value for money & their range of handsets & tariffs beats off a lot of stiff competition!

“Really happy with Virgin”

Just changed to Virgin mobile from o2 because o2 reception is awful. Couldn't be happier with Virgin, set was smooth, reception and coverage is great, they use EE, and a whole lot cheaper!

“Good in the end!”

★★★★★

written by on 24/09/2013

Used Virgin for more than four years now. PAYG for 3 years plus. Monthly sim for a few months. August 2013 wanted to change to a contract. Went into a Virgin store and was told I could have a Samsung S4 mini for discount price of £22. Called Virgin from home to confirm and they said OK. Called my local store and was told one would be put by for me. Went to do the deal and was told no it was a mistake. No climb down. Manager said to call Virgin. I did and was told I could have a Sony Experia SP for £18!!!! I thought I might as well stick with the devil I know. I've not even been charged for the first month. Retired and don't even need a phone much but it's a very nice toy to have anyway. Regards from Gloucester. PS. Phone is even better than I could have hoped for.

“SIM Only 30 Day Rolling Contract”

★★★★★

written by on 22/06/2013

Decided to change from Vodafone as the monthly contract was coming to an end. Got a PAC and ordered the Virgin Mobile Sim - fab price £7 pm. Sim arrived in two days, contacted Virgin Customer Services and was told that the switch could take up to 24 hours (this info is on the website). I did the switch when calls and texts were not important as I knew the phone would not work for a while. Was also told that Vodafone do not release the number until midnight and that I would be okay using the phone with the Vodafone sim until 11pm. All went well, phone was working again just fine the next day, mobile internet worked, a few teething problems with outgoing server settingd for the emails, but all resolved, my mistake in username. The virgin mobile network seems to download very quick. Good experience with Virgin Customer Services - would recommend. We also have Virgin Broadband, phone and TV so will get unlimited calls to Virgin mobile numbers at the weekend and to friends on Virgin, well pleased.

“Excellent service!”

★★★★★

written by ThatPCGuy on 10/05/2013

I have been using them for a month already I am much much happier with Virgin media than my old service provider, Tesco. First of all let's talk about network coverage. Virgin media offer 99% coverage, which does sound too good to be true but normally I can easily get an almost 4G connection pretty much all of the time! Secondly Internet speed is important for some and I can gladly say that on average I get a 10 MBps download speed, although the ping is quite high, that is normal for a mobile device. Call quality is good. Virgin media give you a webpage that let's you know how much data usage you have left, which is better than most. Also you get a nice little text telling you when your contract has been paid and your contracts minutes and data are back up. Prices are also fantastic cheaper than most for top end phones, still no iPhones though, which isn't a problem.

This seems 4g only available through EE and 99% coverage where do you live and visit? I go all over the country and coverage is not near 99% 10mbps is dreamland.

“Just been given an out of contract Android (Smartphone?)”

written by old fogey on 26/03/2013

I have been a Virgin customer for many years. My first cellphone was about the size of a brick! I have recently been given A Sony Xperia, you know how these youngsters have to have the latest phones, so mine is a hand - down. This one is no longer "just a phone" it gets email and the internet. So I needed a new deal from Virgin, I am very happy with their £10.00 a month deal which gives me 250 minutes talk time, 2500 texts and 500 Megabytes of data. I manage to use only half of this. So for £10 a month I have what many of the youngsters pay £25.00 to £35.00 for. I have had very few problems in all the years I have used the Virgin Mobile service.

I came to the end of my 2 year contract on T-Mobile, I decided to save some money before upgrading for something really worthwhile, so I took out a sim only deal with Virgin. I was hands down the best deal on the market 1200 mins unlim texts and 1gb data for £12. Bargain sim arrived next day plugged in and off I went. Then after a few months the Sony Xperia Z came out and I decided to enter another contract but bought the phone on Orange. I rang through to Virgin to ask for my PAC Code and they asked me why I wanted to leave. I explained that the phone I wanted wasn't available. They checked and said they would do me the phone and the tariff was even cheaper than Orange! I was sold! Very happy great customer service and outstanding value.

“Moved from Orange...”

written by 2ThumbsGood on 26/02/2013

... to Virgin and am happy because: * Coverage - they use the same netwrok as Ornage & T Mobile. * Prices - no surprises with Virgin, my 1200 minutes + 1GB data is plenty. * Customer Service - when I needed a micro sim for an unlocked phone they sent it out straightaway: either free 2nd class or £3 first class, came next day, before my unlocked phone arrived. I am trying out a BlackBerry, they have changed me over to BB version of my package, all done over the phone and no charge. Like always, I hesitated before changing and then wished I had done it ages OK when Orange started to go off the boil, IMO they are all about money these days.

I recently joined virgin mobile end of jan, there was this great sim deal which I was interested in. It was for 1200min, unlimited text, 1gb of internet and up to now i am so happy with this deal, went to a vm shop and the staff were very helpful, also customer service. It took a bit of time to keep ky old ecisting number but patience payed off in the end. I can now review my account online, easy set up, I would reccomend virgin, great signal, browse the net with ease. Its value for money.

“Virgin mobile service- very good”

★★★★★

written by laura_b97 on 31/10/2012

virgin mobile offer great customer service and have been very polite each time i have had a problem (5 times), they sent a free phone twice as mine was irreparable (blackberry)but i don't really know why as i had no insurance?? they are reliable and i always got good(London) i would happily recommend virgin mobile to anyone... the only downside to they i that they do not have the greatest selection of phones to choose from. overall i am very impressed with virgin mobiles service and especially with their staff friendliness and customer care. i am very impressed with virgin mobile as i did not start off expecting much from them but they proved me wrong. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND USING VIRGIN MOBILE TO NEW CUSTOMERS.

Never had any problems. The fact I'm a Virgin Media customer means I can get their SIM only deal at a much cheaper price. Also works out cheaper to buy an iPhone offline (or pay as you go) and stick to the SIM only deal. Works out cheaper, plus I'm not tied into a contract. If a newer phone comes out or I fancy another one, I can just sell the phone to get the new one! Currently I'm just paying £12.99 and I get 400 mins, 5000 texts, 1GB internet (rare to get this much on other networks nowadays), 3000 Virgin Mobile to Virgin Mobile minutes. Plus I can ring my Virgin Mobile from my home Virgin phone for free (I have the Talk Unlimted package)!

“Never had ANY problems ”

I came on here to see if the Three network was safe to go onto (from Virgin) as they have really good deals on the new Galaxy S3, and the reviews were all terrible. Then I decided to see what people were saying about virgin... and they were saying exactly the same. This shocked me, as I've been with Virgin for my television, broadband, home phone and mobile for years now.. and i've never had a single problem with them. My mobile network coverage is excellent (I live in Liverpool but have travelled around), if I've ever had any problems with my bills or needed to ask them something it would be sorted out quickly and painlessly, and I really didn't want to leave them other than to get a new phone and maybe a better deal. I just thought I should let people know as it seems only people with bad experiences put reviews on here. I would not only recommend Virgin mobile to my friends, I'm reticent to leave them even for a better deal, simply because their customer service has always been so good for me.

I have been a virgin mobile customer on a pay monthly contract for 3years.
The tariffs are good value, signal good and customer services responsive to
any problem.
People will always feel inclined to report negative experiences not not positive ones. My experience is positive.

Check the sim is activated and topped up. Or check the phone and sim are comparable with the same network. Often phones are locked to individual networks.

If its a micro sim + micro sim adapter what ever you do do not just pull it out. THEY GET STUCK I did this and wrecked the connector pins . In my opnion virgin should never be giving people micro sims this way when they know full well it wrecks phones ... virgin even tried to make me pay for the repair and i was without a phone for a week or so .. To make matters even worse my phone had a 3mm crack in the screen and they refused to fix the sim problem before i paid to have my crack fixed ...and then when i rang virgin insurance they had no record of me .. so just be aware ...and hold your ground it is virgin at fault for penny pinching and not issuing the correct sim in the 1st place
