“Horrible bar staff”

Written on: 28/05/2015 by Willoughbymo103 (1 review written)

Would never drink or eat again in these pubs again. The staff were unfriendly unapproachable, refused service after being in the pub for 3 hours,! Disgusted is to say the least! Spent a lot of money and refused service after 3 hours, totally ripped of by them, their staff need to smile more… Read Full Review

“The best in town”

Written on: 11/04/2015 by ptJohnson284 (1 review written)

The London Hatter in Luton is by far the best place to eat and drink in the town Not only are the prices for food very good especially on 'special days' but the taste is always excellent The beer, especially tuborg, is not only very reasonably priced but is without a doubt the best tasting lager in the whole of Luton The staff are extremely good, and there is never a problem if you want to change your choice of meal in any shape or form Well done the London Hatter i just wish others could be… Read Full Review

“sunday roast”

Written on: 12/03/2015 by Celia484 (1 review written)

Hi - went to The Crown in Berkhamstead on Sunday 8th March. Ordered a roast chicken and a roast beef dinner (£8.25) Terrible - all lukewarm, carrots inedible, roast potatoes rubbery, mash grey. Had to ask for gravy. It is £2 a head more expensive than The London Hatter in Luton, but not comparable. The Crown needs a makeover very tired and tatty looking and definitely not worth a visit. When it first opened it was a nice pleasant place to go on a Sunday. Not now… Read Full Review

“DEBATE OVER RESERVING TABLES”

Written on: 06/03/2015 by MAIDMARION10 (1 review written)

THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT TOOK 40 MINS TO ARRIVE CUSTOMERS WERE LEAVING AFTER WAITING 45 MINS. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT TABLES HAD BEEN RESERVED FOR 6.30 WELL BEFORE 5PM AND THEY WERE NEVER USED AT ALL BY 7PM. I SPOKE TO THE DUTY MANAGER WITH REGARD TO RESERVING TABLES AS THE PUB WAS VERY BUSY AND WE COULD ONLY GET ONE VERY SMALL TABLE FOR THREE. PEOPLE LEFT HAVING OBSERVED THE RESERVED NOTICES BUT HE SAID HE WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN… Read Full Review

“still waiting for a response to a complaint ”

Written on: 29/01/2015 by littlefluffycloud (1 review written)

Visit different pubs in the chain several times a month through work. Ordered curries on curry night at 4.30 pm, they serve food until 11pm. Food came with half the order missing, they'd run out of naan bread and hadn't bothered to tell us when we ordered. Nothing extra was included as replacement, a slight apology from waitress before she scampered away. Poppadoms were too greasy to eat. We complained and the lad serving agreed the poppadoms were too bad to eat and went away to ' have a word'… Read Full Review

“Disgusting Christmas Dinner”

Written on: 15/12/2014 by NoelleAustin (1 review written)

We was in Swindon yesterday in Wetherspoons and ordered a Christmas meal. We had booked a table because there was 14 of us all together. Firstly, I was happy with the way the table was decorated. Although, when the waitresses started bringing out or Christmas dinner we realised they had forgot that we had all already ordered a starter, so we didn't get that. The Christmas meal was cold, horrible and lumpy. A few of us complained when we was asked by the waitresses how the meal was but nothing… Read Full Review

“Toll Gate's food is TERRIBLE!!!”

Written on: 06/12/2014 by Agustin440 (1 review written)

I've been on a few pubs of this chain. No complains. I moved to live in Turnpike Lane. The food at the Wetherspoons (Toll Gate)there is just horrible. I've eaten a few time, just to give it another chance but it only got worse. I had an overcooked salmon and 3 other friends complained about the beef. They've got it wrong even with a lousy badly washed "Freedom salad". Something must be very wrong in that kitchen.... Neither me or my friends want to come back until we hear something had… Read Full Review

“Really disappointing Christmas dinner at the William Owen”

Written on: 21/11/2014 by JacnJusMam (1 review written)

Had Christmas dinner out during a shopping trip today with my husband and teenage daughter. We all have healthy appetites and have had many nice meals at this establishment. Today, however the Christmas dinner was appalling.....We all left food on our plates,my husband and daughter left about half of theirs, I left the majority of mine, which is not like me. The problems.....The extra gravy supplied in a small jug was cold so I sent that back immediately.....Little did I know that was the least… Read Full Review

“Food no longer value for money - FOURTEEN chips is a...”

Written on: 25/09/2014 by Still_Hungry (1 review written)

You get what you pay for... or at least you used to. So, it's cheap but if the food is acceptable quality and quantity, it is "value for money". But portion size has been reduced over the last year or two. This is not specific to a particular Wetherspoons, but seems to be a general policy countrywide. I travel around so have tried many pubs with the same result. The last example was a "Burger deal". Adding bacon and six onion rings, the price is bumped up to nearly £8, but the plate comes… Read Full Review

“Brilliant night at Camborne”

Written on: 01/08/2014 by Wendymaria (2 reviews written)

I ate at Camborne with a party of 16 on their steak night. Brilliant meal, steak, chips, peas, half a tom and half a mushroom with a pint for £6.49. Ordered onions rings and had a desert for less than £12.00 I call that a great deal. The steak was cooked to perfection, arrived hot and there was plenty to eat. Everyone got their meal promptly and no mix up with orders. The service was excellent, the staff coming round regularly to check everything was ok and to see if we needed anything.
