“Wake Six Chimneys Hovel and Filthy no hygiene standards ”

Written on: 14/05/2013 by TourofGBreview (1 review written)

First time I had ever visited the Six Chimneys Wetherspoons in Wakefield I ordered a snack by a surly member of staff - I was put off my dinner after sitting opposite the "serving hatch" - here I saw the waitress eat her dinner, read a paper, take a drink out of one of the juice cartons (no glass straight to mouth) which the juice is served to customers as pure orange (pure saliva!!) then without washing her hands serve a pint!!!!! No hand washing from any of the staff - nails dirty staff... (read more)

“Dont eat at Wetherspoons, Andover”

Written on: 24/04/2013

Worse place we have ever eaten at. The whole of the time we were there the tables were never wiped over and cleaned. Only one member of staff serving food who was grumpy to say the least. We ordered medium steak, half of steak was just about cooked and edible, though very chewy. The other half of steak was still red and uncooked and could not be eaten. Chips were awful and one tiny mushroom on plate. Trying to find someone to complain to was impossible, as only one member of staff would... (read more)

“Food poisoning”

Written on: 14/04/2013

Both my husband and myself visited the Savoy Wetherspoons in Swindon last Saturday. We have been there before and had eaten there and been satisfied with our meal. We both had a burger with chips and onion rings, all seemed fine. A few hours after our meal we both felt unwell suffering a high temperature, nausea and diarrhoea. Fortunately my husband felt better the following day but I have continued to be unwell for the following week. I visited my GP yesterday who confirmed food poisoning. ... (read more)

Written on: 13/03/2013 by akiuk2 (1 review written)

The pub had a good atmosphere apart from a crying/screaming 3 year old. The staff were very helpful and courteous apart from the manager who we never saw. The food came quickly looked presentable but after the first mouthful became a tedious challenge to finish it. I had a half peri peri chicken which was so dry I had to dip it into mayonnaise to eat it. It had no flavour chips were okay obviously frozen. “Wakefield Wetherspoons Staff are rude and unprofessional ”

Staff are sarcastic, rude and speak to customers like they are dirt. The food is disgusting and the toilets are disgusting. Staff need to change their attitude towards paying customers and profer a more professional attitude. They are rude beyond belief and never wash their hands, slam the glasses down and your change into your hands. I personally will never ever use the Wakefield Wetherspoons again. Today it was quite, at about 1.30pm and I was waiting to be served. Two young guys were serving other people, I was waiting. Then one uses the phone (land line) while the . other just watches him. “Oh dear. Not there.”

Written on: 04/11/2012

My wife & I were invited to Wetherspoons in Surbiton by our friend. We found the prices were vastly inflated to what they charge in our hometown. On top of that, the restaurant was a dive to be polite. No-one cleared tables, waiting for service at the bar took at least 10 minutes. When you place an order you pay first, that's the first mistake. We ordered & paid & waited. & waited & waited some more. “THE BAR STAFF ARE INCAPABLE OF SPEAKING COHERENT ...”

Written on: 13/10/2012 by still_waiting_2b_served

One of the key elements of customer service is communication! A couple of weeks ago I entered a Wetherspoons in Birmingham and went to the bar to order food. Eventually a barmaid came to serve me, but her English was so incoherent I couldn't understand it. She went away, and another barman came. “Very poor cleanliness”

Written on: 08/09/2012 by Tonelfc1

On holiday in Torquay for four days with our 16 month old boy we needed somewhere to eat that was reasonably cheap. Visited many Wetherspoons in the past so opted for the London Inn as the other one had steps up to it so not buggy friendly. First visit the pub was quite busy and the only available table on the ground floor was at the bottom of the stairs so had to carry pushchair and baby up to the first floor. Minor gripe. I don't disagree that during the day the floor should be kept clean, but I work in a Wetherspoon and we are constantly understaffed especially on the floor so from time to time food is not cleared off the floor, but all wetherspoon's have cleaners that cone in before the bar opens to clean everywhere. So your complaint should be partially aimed at them.

“Not a chef on site, kids straight off a catering course ”

Written on: 07/07/2012 by Paulusthemighty (1 review written)

Chronicly awful food on 2 occasions now. Food is cheap badly cooked mush, clearly prepared by kids fresh from a catering course at college, clearly not a chef on the premises. Jut from the menus they're clearly far more interested in shifting the alcoholic beverages on which they make huge mark ups. Food is clearly secondary. On returning one item, staff member turned to a colleague and mocked sarcastically my views on the terrible dish. (read more)

Written on: 03/08/2012

Wetherspoons is a pub, so obviously they'll shift more alcoholic beverages! If they wanted to shift more food, they'd become restaurants!
"Clearly" you haven't worked in Wetherspoons. (You said clearly four times in your review, please learn more words..) Actually, there are both Team Leaders (3+ years experience in catering) and there is always a Kitchen Manager in the kitchen. (6+ years experience and having sat more than 8 formal and legal examinations to become a manager) Most Kitchen Managers have been chefs in restaurants, and have lots of experience in the Food and Leisure businesses. All kitchen staff have to sit weeks - months of training with their training buddies (usually a duty or kitchen manager) and have to sit exams in their first month including examinations on the Food and Hygiene laws 1990.
CLEARLY you don't work in any of the kitchens, and CLEARLY you don't have a clue what they're all like. True, the staff can be cheeky to those who don't know who they're talking about, like I am now to you. Please, with better grammar, make fun of something that you actually know something about.
As for the kids comment, most of the staff are over 18, the ones that aren't are above 16 and only do dishes and sandwiches, no hot food. If you eat at Dominos, Subway, Pizza Hut, Frankie and Bennys, NONE of their staff will have done catering at college!! Not many Wetherspoons younger employees have done catering either - it is not done in any kitchens of Chain companies, all you have to have is your highers/GCSEs. Most restaurants like McDonalds only require 14-15 year olds who left school at 15. Welcome to the real world of chain restaurants and pubs.
As a Team leader doing my few years training to become a Kitchen manager, I actually know what I'm talking about. Please moan about the actual food, not the staff or policies, which you seem to know NOTHING about!! Wow.. some people...

Don't expect people to come back to your business when you tell them they don't know what they're talking about.

The food was a disgrace and I won't be back.

Leave many customers feeling like this and your company will close.

They aren't allowed because there are little differences between eCigarettes and normal cigarettes. People wouldn't know that yours is fake, so may light up a real cigarette. Pubs have complaints about them all the time, not realising they are fake. You aren't allowed to smoke them in SuperDrug, Quiz and lots more stores. Please obtain more common sense!!

My husband and I had a curry on Thursday 28th October at this same establishment in Bournemouth. We enjoyed the meal but also found that the cutlery was disgusting. On our way out I asked to see the manager. A girl in her early twenties came to speak to me, saying she wasnt the manager but the team leader. I told her that we had enjoyed our food, however the cutlery was disgusting and that we had struggled to find clean spoons. She told us that the dishwasher had blown up earlier and apologised. This was obviously a lie if the people who wrote this review had a similar experience a few weeks before us. I have tried to go on the website that invites you to "tell us what you think" from the back of the receipt with no luck.

£10-£25 for a burger no wonder you waited an hour plus, they were too busy ripping you off. My Wetherspoon it's £4.09 for a burger

Went to 2 Wetherspoon pubs while visiting London earlier this year. Both had awful slow service and poor quality of food. At one the meatball dish was so bad (chewy and dry) that it wasn't even fit for dog food. The other one was so bad it upset my partner and we had to leave.
Have complained several times to their head office asking for a refund (in total spent around £40) - all they would give us is 2 £5 vouchers, and keep making poor (and different) excuses why they won't give us a... (read more)

'Children served till 8pm' said sign on door. Great - after long day out with 2 tired children. Rude little man said 'can't serve you - children served till 6pm'. Went out, man had changed sign to 6pm!!! Very embarrassed at being turned away! 6pm in a busy town centre, 30mins after shops shut???? Get real!! Will never use Wetherspoons again!!! (read more)
