“Fresh bakery products”

Written on: 25/04/2013 by retaileyes (1 review written)

It can often be as late as 10:00 before the in house bakery products are available. The store manager is a scruffy miserable bloke who simply doesnt care about the shop or its stock control. There is one female assistant who is positively rude to the point of being ignorant! there can be several people waiting in the queue she will still stay on shop floor and not help! Rest of staff bar another female are all polite and helpful. (read more)

“Rude staff.”

Written on: 20/04/2013

I've usually had a good experience shopping at Tesco, but very recently the staff at the Uxbridge store are incredibly rude. Two notable occasions include a very smug 20-something year old who stands behind the till at the tobacco and customer service station, who decides not to engage with me in conversation and treated me like some kind of drone. It was just: "Next." (Scans items, takes money) "Next". I was left kind of shocked and had to scurry my items into my bag and shove the rest of... (read more)

“Staff fantastic - prices shocking - ”

Written on: 18/04/2013

This is the nearest shop to my house and I use as little as possible. I would rather travel a bit further to the local Asda where the prices are so much cheaper. The staff are fantastic but there never seems to be enough people on the checkouts. There is also a problem where you will see advertised in the main press items that are on offer, so you go off to buy them and they are either out of stock OR you are told that those items are only available in the main store (read more)

“Tesco Park Road, Liverpool. Don't waste your time”

I have wasted some considerable amount of time recently attempting to purchase goats milk from your Park road store in Liverpool, an item which you claim to stock but rarely do. I am a regular user of both full fat, for my toddler son and semi skimmed for myself, purchasing 6-8 cartons at a time. Hi. I happen to work for tesco and I am sorry to hear about your experience with Tesco.
I would be completely honest, the amount of training the company puts us through is unbelievably high. We have to watch dvds about how to deliver excellent customer service like every 3 months and complete question/answer sheets to pass them. However, even i myself have experienced horrendous service at the hands of staff at other stores, and the minute my staff discount card comes out, it all turns around, their dull attitude brightens up and all of a sudden a smile appears on their faces since they dont know if i am a manager or a regular assistant.

I would seriously advise you to head straight over to the customer services desk and ask to speak to the check out manager, and tell them your not happy with the attitude of the person who served you.

Heres a little insight into what we ABSOLUTELY MUST do when a customer approaches us whether on a check out or walking around on the shop floor.
We have to be the FIRST to acknowledge, smile and greet the customer. We have to have a visible name badge, We have to say PLEASE and THANK U. We are FORBIDDEN from talking to a colleague while we are serving a customer, even if its the area manager or the CEO of Tesco. This is no exaggeration. This is covered in our training.
The store has to be clean and tidy (except for night shift, you can expect cardboard boxes all over the place), and you shouldnt have to queue up for shop (2 customers in front of you max).
So please remember these points next time you visit your local Tesco, and look out for these things. And dont hesitate to pull up the duty manager should anything fall below the stated standards. It helps us spot the black sheep among us, and retrain them. And do believe me when i say that it does make a difference. Hope that helps.
You can pick them apart on any one of these things should they fail to meet those standards. After all, you give the company business.

Member of staff here. U would be amazed at how much they hammer the following into heads...

We have to be the first to acknowledg, greet and smile at a customer. We must offer to help pack their bags. We must NOT talk to any colleagues while serving a customer even if its the CEO of Tesco. We must have a visible name badge (not on a fleece that has been taken off, or on a t shirt thats hiding under the fleece, it must be visible at all times) and we have to say please and thank u. They would crucify the staff if someone is reported for not doing anyone of those things. So dont hesitate to contact the check out manager first, and/or the duty manager after.
This is all covered in our training. So i see no reason why any member of staff should NOT do this.

I am a member of staff, and i am not here to represent the company. But i will say that you should also have got an apology and your refund. As for a voucher, I am not sure Tesco do that. As for the product itself, if it has a date on it, and it turns out to be gone off, then Tesco unfortunately have no way of checking that. You can pull them up for selling something that was on the shelf after its sell by date, as it is illegal and you should be looking at compensation and not just an apology

Hi. I work for Tesco but not here to represent the company. I am sorry to hear about your experience. There are a few occasions when you place an order for something but the offer either ends before your order is processed, or it is out of stock. The way it works in tesco is, you are not billed for your shopping until the morning of your order, when the pickers go out on the shop floor and pick your shopping, bring it back into the warehouse. Once all the trays of your shopping have come back into the warehouse, the order is labelled as complete.
This is because, the price for loose fruit and veg, deli counter fish/meat cannot be predetermined due to every apple/ meat fillet being of different weight and size. Once all these items have been weighed and priced, they are added to your shoping, which is then sent in the warehouse along with the rest of your shopping. The computer then totals up your bill, and requests a payment from your account based on the final invoice rather than on the initial invoice which you get in your email right after putting an order through online.
As for the prices of packaged items, thats just unfortunate they went up just before your order had gone through, but like i said, the payment is not requested from your account until the morning of your delivery date. Hope that helps

Sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, any product that has a tesco label on it, is not actually produced or packaged in a Tesco owned factory/ warehouse. They just get the same company to put a Tesco label on their product, as Marks and Spencers or Asda. I would estimate that around 70% of the suppliers for all these supermarkets are the same. They just stick on different company labels when packing them. So it wouldnt have been a Tesco issue alone. You should have got your refund and an apology though.

“Christmas Vegetarian offering”

Written on: 20/02/2013

Bought the tesco 'finest' vegetarian butternut roast for my daughter for xmas dinner - cost approx £5. What a terrible product! on opening it was basically a very small portion of mashed veg with some gravy. it looked unappetising even when cooked, nothing like the picture on the box, so we ditched it and had a quorn roast instead. i think the product deliberately came in a sealed box to prevent anyone seeing what poor quality it was! Finest? I don't think so! Big profit? absolutely! (read more)

You would be surprised to know how many 'finest' products are actually just regular tesco products in a somewhat better packaging. As blindfold tests are starting to reveal that sometimes the regular brand tastes better than the premium finest brands. Dont be fooled by the label.
