Good Points: Cheap Cleans Your barrel fast Easy to use* A lot of different brands to choose from (not only VFG) Available in .177 and .22 calibre
Bad Points: * No clearly defined instruction (not hard to figure out though!!)
General comments: Well basically these are cleaning pellets, made from a woollen cleaning felt, and are a purely natural product containing no chemicals!
Just pop one in you barrel (Maybe put a pellet behind), close it up!, and pull the trigger, that simple. It will clean your barrel of all sorts of nasties.
These are very absorbent and can trap large and small particles of dirt in their tangled fibre structure, although the only aspect (mentioned above *) is that there is no precise instructions to 'how' these should be used, - do you fit a pellet behind, or not.
I have tried this without and a bit worryingly the rifles make a very large clang, I personally don't like this noise as it's similar to firing a weapon without anything in the chamber at all.. However with a pellet fitted tightly behind, it fires normally.. how effective this actually is, I can not say.. Also, some have used a drop of oil on such cleaning pellets (Maybe a topic for the forums!)
But basically, these do clean your barrel to some degree, and I have used these in all my air rifles, and my co2 pistol before storing away after using. (Hard to say if they actually work well as I keep my rifles clean)
- Saying that, I have just found a website containing information/Instructions about these pellets http://www.weaponcare.com/pay_instructions.asp?G=A17 They do actually recommend a pellet behind these cleaning pellets in a spring air rifle!!
Worth while trying this website link as it does contain more information about these cleaning pellets.
