Good Points: This review is for the S&W "Ultra Grade" 1911. This is a heavy, well-made, well-balanced pistol with many metal parts. The hop-up system is too enthusiastic for .12's and even .20's, but it's deadly accurate with .25's. It hits very hard, it's easy to strip and lubricate, and it's durable. It looks and feels like the real McCoy, so DON'T remove or paint the orange tip if you plan on showing it in public.
Bad Points: The clip projects below the handle, and it is easy to eject, accidentally. Also, the box says that the Class 4 hop-up system is fully adjustable, but we have been unable to figure out how. Also, the metal parts do not include the outside shell: that is black ABS plastic.
General comments: This is the cream of the crop for springer pistols, which is why it gets a 10. The velocity figures shown on the package are very conservative: this thing outshoots some shotguns. This is made by KWC, I think, a company that seems to consistently make the best guns.
If anyone knows how to adjust the hop-up system on this so I can use .20's, please let me know. I've stripped it and examined the parts with a magnifier, and while I found the hop-up mechanism, I can't figure any way to adjust it, though it does look adjustable.
