I play GTA since it's first version and I never missed any version so played all of them and there's no doubt that GTA IV is the best so far! It's the amount of effort on the small details that makes this game so good, you can really feel it. The only "downside" to GTA IV if you can call it a downside is the system requirements..they take your system to its limit..and then some, I would recommend playing only on a gaming computer, otherwise you have to take down details of graphics to let it... I cant understand how people dont give the GTA 4 game 10/10! if u compare what you're getting for £40 with gta 4 to what you get with other games its no contest at all.
Even without any game content the game is a work of art. i do some 3d modeling and i can tell you its not easy to do a great building with as much detail as the ones in LC let alone a whole city with great atmospherics etc.

GTA 4 - When i first played this game i was truly disappointed with the overall outcome of the game. I was expecting hundreds of missions wider range of vehicles and more freedom. Not a 10/10. I would like to give it 8/10 but I can see that the developers have tried their best and there are some things in the game that are truly awesome. Should I give it a 9/10? Only if 8,5 isn 't allowed. Behind the hype is an exceptional game with some problems. The biggest for me was the story or should I say the structure of the story. It was repetetive.

Where do I begin! First of all, never ever buy this game. Rent it, complete it, get the achievments then take it back. Seriously, after the 5 day rental time you'll be BORED on this game anyway in my opinion. The complete lack of content gives this game one of the shortest life span of any game I have ever played. This game is a must-buy, you may have read other reviewers syaing this game 'sucks' or that it is a 'waste of money and time'. I had second thoughts too about buying GTA 4 after reading many harsh reviews but in the end I bought it, and I admit I am a hardcore gamer I have played many games like GTA 4 and I have to say GTA 4 outsands them all.

It had a good story but it was much too repetitive. The intro was goo. The new features were good such as the cover system, the fighting was said to be more natural yet thre was no grappels to make it look real, it was still good though. Rockstar said they were trying to blur the line between missions and free roam and make them influence each other, but the mission structure was the same. At the start Niko is in desperate need of money but later has far too much money. (read more)

When I first played the game, I got wowed by the graphics. But as the game goes on, it shows it is lot different to the previous GTA games. I found the cars are much harder to handle, always veering to the side even if I steer it straight. The combat system sucks, take more bullets to kill a person, even with a M4. That's no good. For me, GTA 4 was a huge disappointment and I think
San Andreas was miles better.
Yes the graphics are better but I managed to complete 66% of the game in the first weekend. With San Andreas it took me 8 month to get to 60% coz there's soo much more to do besides the missions. Here, there's no fighter jets (not even LearJets) no parachutes, no jet pack, no bicycles, just cars and a boring chopper. IMHO, it's massively overrated.

I expect to be better than the other GTAs but disappointed, there's no drive by shootings, the way cars drive really annoys me, awkward lock-ons ticks me off and sometime you lock on the innocents by mistake than the bad guys. it doesn't even automatically lock-on to head as you get close to the bad guys it only stays on the upper body and you have to raise the cross hair to head every time. there's no reloading, I have to shoot the last few bullets to reload more bullets so I wouldn't get... Graphics are out of this world. Very realistic city life features, as well as the weather and the lighting of building.
Overall another well made game by Rockstar North. Gameplay was great with much deeper realism pertaining to city life, missions, gun fights, and graphics. Well recommend GTA 4 for the xbox 360.

The time they must have spent on things like comedians in those clubs that no one is really interested in sitting and watching could have been time spent making a new setting away from the city for a while. I read some bad reviews before I bought this game and can honestly say that the points they made are not the same for my opinion..
Someone complained about the cars not handling well. The cars handle perfectly. Ok, they aren't as easy to drive as in GTA3, but for me, I prefer the driving to be challenging.

I think you missed the point in your review. This game is NOT just about driving and shooting! GTA4 opens an entirely new era in game playing! GTA4 is the first truly funny game and its humor in the numerous radio shows is just as remarkable as the incredible graphics. I think, driving is rather a boring part of the game, because you are forced to drive all the time. However, there is plenty more to do and if the main character wouldn't be such a mindless killer robot, the replay value would be much higher than zero!

I think this is the best game for the Xbox 360 so far, but I'm one of those that doesn't like 1st person shooters (dead rising also very good), game looks beautiful, the way you can look out over the whole city and it doesn't develop as you get closer is great, story is good, characters are believable, 2 marks I would give against it is the missions are so similar, bar maybe 1 or 2 (I just finished it this morning) they all have a driving part followed by a shooting part followed by a chase... Well, I somehow agree that there could have been more to the story. with an environment as big as this, there are countless opportunities for more stories. I personally missed the CHOICES! There are no choices and you just got to do what you have to do. Why not let you skip a mission and loose a few bucks or achievements? Why not let you choose to be a GOOD guy and fight the bad ones? It wouldn't really change much of the story either!

A very good game. Not the great leap forward that San Andreas was. The cars handle well and the camera and gunfights work much, much better than before, mostly because it's robbed a lot of Gears of War's ideas. The voice acting and script are way above average. It needs countryside, the cityscape gets dull quite quickly and graphically (especially the xbox360 version) it's nothing special. But overall a must buy. (read more)

Not such a great leap as San Andreas? I think San Andreas was one disgusting and stupid mistake! With GTA4, they went back to Vice City, only now with graphic details like never seen in any other game before. I don't think they had to steal anything! This game is the holy grail for the Playstation 3. The gameplay is incredible and there are just as many new missions and side missions as there are in previous games. The graphics are moderate for the level of power the Playstation 3 offers. But what I like best is the true attention to detail that rockstar have clearly spent a huge amount of time on.
Gta4 is a great game. Everyone that has a ps3 should at least borrow this game for a few days and see what they think of it.

This game is the best game I have ever played and I can not stress that enough, GTA 4 has been an experience and I have only had around 2 days of gameplay on it. I keep finding new abilities and aspects of the game and when considering everything in the game working together there is so much to do, it all ads to the entertaining realistic gameplay of GTA 4 therefore I well recommend it for the xbox 360. GTA 4 is one the best Xbox 360 games I haver ever experienced, I personally wish I had it for the PS3 as my friend does and although it is the same gameplay the graphics in my opinion are slightly better as I feel there is no graphics lag in online gameplay. Little disappointed with the new installment of GTA as my initial feeling for the game is "nothing new" it feels the same as San Andreas although the graphics are better the game feels no different. Honestly I play a lot of video games and a lot of different genres and I have to say that this game is the best game I have ever played. Within the first 15 min of the game my jaw was on the floor. Its great graphics don't make it seem a bit less of a GTA game but hey who is complaining. I simply love this game due to the entertaining gameplay, it's just so fun, I mean seriously it's difficult to get bored of, you can do anything on it. The main reason I would argue this is an addictive game is because you can progress more than previous versions for example better your character, I think this is due to the fulfillment you get when you do something that gets you further in the game. GTA IV is a truely amazing experience overall, including some of the best driving, shooting and fighting gameplay yet; each has a phenomenal level of detail, including the driving which includes some amazing sound effects and car physics. Its ok... thats all I can say really, it didnt get me addicted like I expected it to and it took ages to actually start getting into the action. The cops are a real pain even on one star and you can only pay and spray your car now if the cops dont see you go in which can get real annoying. Bring on saints row 2 I say. I actually agree, on the reviw i wrote ( wich seems to not be appearing) i wrote a lot of good things because they did put quite a lot of effort.
