My parents have a patterdale - 11 years old now and grew up with my son of the same age, they are like best buddies. As soon as we arrive at the house the dog grabs his toys and off they go in the garden. Dog loves to play but doesn't know when to stop. Good watch in the house when door rings. He has very good sense of smell and won't allow post/newspapers through the door unless it comes in with my parents and that goes for parcels as well. I took delivery of some beer once and the delivery man left it in the hall untouched with any of our scent and he attacked the whole lot and punctured the cans. He also hates white vans for some reason, goes mad in the car, he has a cage in the car that has to be covered just in case a white van or lorry passes. On the whole a fun dog that likes to follow you round and is intellegent. You just have to get used to his ways (like a child).

My little Patterdale Terrier sadly had to be put to sleep at the age of six because of auto-immune disease (pemphigus). She was the most gentle creature who loved everyone she got to know, she never caused anyone any grief, she will be sadly missed , this breed is amazing.

I have a Patterdale Terrier dog called Dalton. We called him that because he was born in the Lake District. He was very expensive but we coudn't ive without him! When we told my grandma she went "a DOG?!?" but now she acts like she loves him the most.
He always barks at the hoover and the broom. He's so loud!
He is black and he is so cute because his tail curls over at the end! When we went to pick one from the litter the owners at he beggining were calling him Curly!

Whilst Patterdales are brilliant pets I would only recommend them to confident , strong willed owners because they do have a mind of their own and strong training is essential and also they DO need off lead exercise and you need to be confident that your dog is going to come back you. Stanley is 17months old and a very loving, affectionate and eager to please dog.. I knew i would need to be firm with him so we did everything by the book right from day one and it has paid off. He loves children ...

The Patterdale Terrier as a working dog i believe it is top terrier,as a family pet again top marks.i've found mine to very good with small children and other dogs, but any other pets forget it.if u live in the countryside this would be an excellent small dog for anyone who enjoys a good hours walk everyday .but be careful near roads they do bolt for rabbits foxes, just about anything that moves.and if yours is like mine if he gets hold of a rabbit or fox it's goodnight mr fox, rabbit.but you have ...

Woody is 2 years old today and I absolutely love him. He is such a little character and everybody loves him. Yes, he can be very boisterous, but he is a terrier and I wouldn't have him any other way. Unfortunately he suffers from Demedex so he has fur loss in patches (he is treated with Advocat every month) but he still looks the best to me. He is friendly, loves everybody and is a very loving little chap, he's always ready to play. He has no fear and I feel extremely safe when he's around. He's ...

Our patterdale polly is 1 yr old and the best terrier we have ever had. She is so gentle and loving, adores our small children. Very easy to train with the right incentive... eg at 3 months old my 13 yr old son had her doing commando crawls on command!
She is a wonderful family pet and a great companion. Loves long walks, but equally enjoys being curled up in front of the fire!

The Patterdale Terrier is a loyal, smart and loving breed. I Have 2 patty's, both girls both from the same mum and both are very different.
Chelsea - Is ace she follows every command I can walk with her off the lead anywhere and she will stay with me all the time, never runs off but is a little dumb.
Yoshimi - Is very naughty, smart and very playful.
Alot of people criticise Patty's but it is the owners fault how they are not the dogs. I have to work extremly hard with Yoshi. Naughty dog ...

Our Patterdale Terrier is 18 months old and called Max. He is absolutely beautiful, loving and placid. he was very easy train, never leaves your side and adjusted well with his dogsitter when we went on holiday for 2 weeks. She fell in love with him! We have two children aged 18 and 8 and he adores them both! Anyone thinking of getting a Patterdale should go for it! No grooming, no smell and very easy going.

Overall I have to say he is a wonderful pet and we all love him dearly!

Lots of patties and most terriers get the reputation of being disobedient and naughty but its not the dog that should be blamed but the owners.
Yes terriers are a little harder to train than other dogs but when people take on them they know that from the start!
I see this happen all the time where people get these dog and its too much for them so the dog becomes unobedient and they have to "try ' get re-homed and the dog gets the bad reputation.

I have just bought a patterdale pup. Buster, he is only 7 week old so cant take him for walks yet. I don't hear him at all at night and he is quiet when I go out and when I come back in, I just hope he isn't crying while I'm out and driving the neighbours mad. well our patterdale terrier is the best dog we have ever had as a family dog, she is always protecting the children and loves it when my 18 month old nephew comes to play. patterdale terriers are very funny little things with the way they do things, my friends love watching her playing around and being mischievous. she's great entertainment.

well i would definately never get a different breed i got her for all the right reasons but she does like to run of chasing things on walks but that's just ...

i have a 8 mth old patterdale (poppy) she would be a lovely dog if only she wasn't such a bully! she has had a lab on its back with him crying. i must add she never goes at them showing aggression she just wants to play! however she never seems to know when to quit it! i do not know if it comes back to the fact that she never had a mum (she died during birth so poppy was hand reared)! also i find the jumping up thing hard to deal with and like some other patterdale owners have said she goes deaf ...

The Patterdale Terrier is quiet indoors, gets on on well with kids and other animals. Does not cast her hair. Obedient likes to play with kids and other dogs.

Although some terriers have a bad name our Patterdale is a lovely placid pet. She rarely barks and gets on with everyone and everything.

We have a Patterdale called Trigger, we acquired him when he was 1 year old and fell in love with him. He is a really nice looking dog, just the right size for our family, playful, funny and good with children, other dogs and he travels well. He does not lose much hair and does not smell 'doggy'.

At one year old he is untrainable. He cannot be let off the lead, he escaped from our garden one time and killed two of my neighbours chickens. He has a fierce blood lust, he has killed and eaten hedg ...
