Dvd player is very bad. put a dvd in sometimes picture is jumpy then you stop and start dvd again and the player comes up on screen with wrong disc. tried several dvd and still have same problem. this is the third tv to go wrong. i have had two alba tvs with the same problem. it is also very noisy when playing. I will not buy one these tvs again

“This Bush DVD142TV TV/DVD combi can be got for £99.99...”

★★★★☆

written by Robin Ryder on 27/03/2004

This Bush DVD142TV TV/DVD combi can be got for £99.99 from Argos in an odd way. If you try to buy the Bush 142 for £119.99 from Argos over internet, it says an Alba might be substituted. Try to buy the Alba TDV3402 (sic) from an Argos store for £99.99 and you actually get an Alba TVD3450 which is the Bush 142 badged for Alba.
Set up is straightforward if you note to change the country from SF (Finland) to UK. Auto scan finds and names all the channels correctly but they are not stored in the standard order of BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4 and CH5. But they are easily sorted once you realise that on screen one of the two yellows is green.
Audio is thin through built in speakers.
Teletext is moderately fast. But of course infinitely superior to the wretched teletext on digital TV.
This combi proves the rule that the less you pay for a DVD player, the more versatile it is likely to be -- in playing all formats. If you need a 2nd set for kitchen or bedroom, run, don't walk, to Argos and get one of these.
