Unfortunately, I have had to make a claim for a heart condition my cat developed in January and he sadly passed away in February after recieving extensive treatment. I made a claim with Asda, and still to this date ( mid-May ) they have not paid out, and seem to be dragging their heels, always putting 'new' obstacles in the way all the time - I get the impression they are trying their best to avoid paying out. I didn't renew my pet insurance and cancelled the direct debit with them after a year, I got an email from Premium Credit which stated I should sign an online agreement so my direct debit could be taken. I didn't sign it as I had a new policy and figured they would not be able to take payment without my agreement. That was clearly wrong as they've been taking money for months without my agreement. Do not even think of using asda pet insurance. I have been waiting for my cheque since 5/9/14. They sent it to the wrong vet instead of sending it to me and to re-issue you have to wait another14 days. After countless phone call I was told it had been re- issued and sent to my own vet despite being told I had already paid. I phoned on 3/10/14 to be told it would have to re-issued, another14 days. We had a claim that is really something they should have paid for. I vet said most insurance firms would do so. Other pet insurance companies I have been with have been much better. They are slow to respond and a try to prevent you from claiming from early stage with people on the phone who have no medical knowledge. Don't buy this pet insurance!… Read Full Review

This company don't like paying out insurance claims. Had insurance with them for 4 years - never claimed until Dec 2013 when dog diagnosed with Epilepsy .claimed that vet told them that dog had symptoms 2 years before diagnosis .asked to see Vets letter which only states diagnosis in December 2013. This company simply don't want to pay out on claims . Don't use Asda for your pet insurance. I took out pet insurance for my dog not long after we got her, thinking it would be the sensible thing to do just in case she became ill or needed treatment. I have paid into the policy for over 4 years now without needing to make a claim. Recently though, a small 'spot' on her tummy altered shape and size so, on the advice of my vet, it was removed surgically at a cost of approximately £175. My dog died recently from a tumour on her spleen, she had to have her spleen removed and unfortunatle reacted badly to the blood transfusion . Her treatment was inacess by £500 of the claim for insurance , they are just using delaying tactic to not paying out. I would not recommend them to anyone… Read Full Review

DID A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE CHOOSING ASDA PET INSURANCE, thought they would be fair and trustworthy as we shopped in their store for years and had good service. They paid out quickly on small claims but let us down on renewal prices for policy 1st year premium for one dog £176.00. after 3rd year premium just short of £1,000.00 for two dogs! I ordered an online shopping delivery on 24.11.12 for delivery on the 25.11.12 between 6pm & 8pm. at 8:05pm still no delivery, i phoned the service centre and was told to phone back at 830pm so i did. Still no shopping, next person could not contact anyone at the store, the 3rd person i contacted had the store contact the driver and call me back in which they did, where i was told that the driver could not get in, and nor get a hold of me when asda had been calling my mobile without a problem… Read Full Review

We took out a policy with Asda pet insurance 2 years ago. 1st year £28.00 per month. Made a claim for our dog of £550 and took 3 months to pay us. 2nd year £43.00 per month, but no claim. Now our dog has turned 7,they want £65.20 a month.Staggering amount for a maximum payout policy of £3000 only. Once your dog has a condition, like our dog who has hip dysplacia but not bad enough to have an operation, they know you have to stick with them. Chose Asda and stuck with them for three years without claiming on a rescue springer spaniel still only 5 years old. Sent a cheery renewal notice couched in language that reflected a lottery win tand that indicated I was receiving a fabulous offer by Asda increasing my premium from just over 140.00 to well over 200.00. We have two dogs and have used Asda Superior for a three years. The premiums were good value but once you claim it's a different story. We had no claims in the first two years, then three in one year, none of which are ongoing conditions, simply unlucky, and something not likely to be repeated. Asda were very slow to settle the claims (when you call they say they've not received the forms but they admit to running a month behind so if you wait they do pay up eventually - as we pay the vet… Read Full Review

My cat fell ill recently, and after paying for the Initial consultation with the Vet, I contacted an Asda "colleague" (I hate that term!), and then filled in a Claim form, as well as a Pre-Authorisation form for the further treatment required. My Vet faxed them together, and then posted them in the same envelope. My PET CLAIM for partial amputation on my young cat's tail took over 6 weeks to be completed...I had to write, phone & e-mail very many times. My vet sent all relevant documents several times regarding my young cat's surgery and eventually Asda reimbursed me. ASDA PET INSURANCE - Having be in the awful position of having to make a claim just 4 weeks after purchasing the insurance cover, I rang the 24 Hour Claim line at 7pm on a Wednesday evening. I heard a recorded message telling me that the offices are only open until 6pm Monday to Friday and 1pm on a Saturday. Then my call was automatically cut off my Asda. Stay away from Asda if you want a decent insurance .
Our claim was made back in January and we are still waiting for payment and its nearly May ! Countless phone calls havent made any difference to the long drawn out process of trying to get a claim settled .
They dont hang around taking my money each month . Stay away ...

I sent in a claim on 4th January. Had heard nothing by the 10th Feb so I rang them, was told they had not received it, had to wait for another form to be sent out and claim again, with copies of bills from the vets etc. All took Time!
Then i got the first original claim form back today, dated recieved on 18th Jan, with a query and more details required from the vet etc before they would pay out.
SLOWWWWWWWWWW!!! Avoid, I am moving insurers once they have paid up!

I sent a claim form in mid January - I was told today that the form has not been received and I need to go back to my vet to get another form filled in.
Also as of today's date (09/02/2011) they are processing claims made on 07/01/2011. This means they are over a month behind in dealing with all claims.
I have put in a formal complaint - I don't know when I will receive a payment - I am certainly not happy with the level of service I have received and would definately not recommend Asda pet… Read Full Review

I would like to thank ASDA for giving me claim. I have insured my Tommy with ASDA. Unfortunately in september 2010, Tommy suffers from some heart diseases and sadly I have to let him go in November.
I applied for claim and thanks to ASDA for giving claim in time. I would like to say that it was my best decision to buy pet insurance from ASDA.
