“Steer well clear”

Steer well clear of these bunch of charlatans. If you pay by debit card the small print says you automatically agree to renew and so if you don't act the second you get the renewal notice you're stuck. That's because they also squeeze every last penny out of you. My debit card had been replaced and so they couldn't automatically renew - before I knew it £20 failed payment fee please. “THEY MAKE YOU USE A KEY FOB AND THEN CHARGE YOU £21...”

I recently took out home insurance with B&B in joint names with my partner and myself. I received a letter from Keycard enclosing one key fob and stating "LOSS OR THEFT OF YOUR KEYS WILL NOT BE COVERED IF THEY ARE NOT ATTACHED TO YOUR KEY FOB". I contacted B&B to say that the policy is a joint policy and we would need another key fob, and they informed me that there is a charge of £21 for it!! “Cancel charge during cooling off period”

I actually didn't take out their policy. It was very cheap but i wanted freedom to cancel without charge during the standard cooling off period. Tesco and Legal & General, for example, do not charge and this should be industry standard. Bradford & Bingley will charge 25 quid even if you have had it for 1 day. They said it's normal, but it's not. Very harsh on those who choose it but then find a better deal, or those who perhaps find out they get it automatically as a bank account benefit… Read Full Review

“BROKEN BOILER”

I recently made communication regarding an issue , and requested advice, not intending to make a claim, but may take that route should it be necessary. I spent over two hours between 13 members of staff , who simply passed me on to another person and so on. They are useless in every sense od the word from a contact to actually listening to what has been asked, as it was an o844 number , m bill was about £10 . “Incompetent and aggressive”

Policy was up for renewal and premium way too high. Obtained cheaper and advised them two days before the renewal date that I did not want to renew. Followed this up with a letter. Two days after my renewal date I cancelled the direct debit at the bank to be on the safe side. In between this, Bradford and Bingley issued a letter to me with a charge of £20.00 for cancelling early and within the letter they make threats about debt collection agencies. “Avoid Bradford and Bingley”

Avoid at your own risk.Poor customer service and pain strikingly slow at resolving issues. My policy was on a no auto renewal yet they still renewed, tried to access my credit card without consent and then tried to bill me £60.00 for there error when the credit card company declined payment???? Lots of fanying around later and threatening letters i have to send proof of a new provider to them?? to a postal address? have they not heard of email? Had to change my surname on their records as a result of getting married. They carried this out over the phone and straight after deleting five letters on their system and adding four letters, said that they would be charging me £20. It may very well be in their small print but I am cross that they did not warn me of this before proceeding to change my name - otherwise I would have left it be. “Worst ever.”

B and B acted like a criminal fraudulent bunch of misers (this word was originally a word starting in shy and ending in sters but this was flagged as inappropriate!!). They are morally bankrupt. I made a claim for a lost bike and noticed that another bike was omitted from the policy. It was apparently f'free' to add a new bike but incurred a nominal 20 pound admin fee. Overall I am happy with the service, but one thing is missing, easy contact for existing customers. Why do you insist on an 0844 number? I am also unhappy that your Change of Details form does not allow for us not having a House Number. Why? We live on a boat and moor in a marina. How can we possibly have a house number? “Secretly locked into never ending contract.”

I took out one years' home insurance with them after finding a good rate on money supermarket. After a year, they wrote to me telling my policy had ended, and I should pay them for another years' coverage. I didn't want to stay with them, preferring to choose a low deal myself, so I didn't reply back to them or enter into any correspondence. “it seems the claim is never covered!! ”

took out highest cover for building,contents along with home emergency, but when I had to contact them with an emergency for leaking pipe under kitchen sink they didn't want to know saying it was leaking and not gushing out even thou it had flooded out my kitchen, another time I had a concrete post overhanging my neighbours house from another level of height this post were endangering lives of my next doors young children, this company are very very unfair so warning before taking out policies… Read Full Review

“Found very easy to deal with.”

Had a claim for a damaged bedroom carpet which had a drink spilt on it. Had tried to get it industrial cleaned but with no success and proof from the cleaning company I then registered my claim. “Key cover insurance - I felt was very misleading ”

I have contents and building insurance with B&B. No problem wit that (but I haven't made a claim!). My issue is with the key cover insurance I was sold whilst on the phone with them. I consider myself a pretty aware sort of chap. But after buying this cover I got a letter in the post a few days later confirming cover and including a key fob. i would avoid like mad as when I took out the policy I was asked if I had made any claims on house hold insurance I said no as I hadn't. when I made a claim I was rejected as I had made a pervious claim, this is where the wording trickery was I had made a claim for a watch (which I may add was a specialist watch insurance cove 2 years ago), this was not home or contents insurance. “Horrendous experience!!”

I have home emergency cover and had a burst pipe under my kitchen sink. As a consequence our water had to be shut off. No problem I thought but how wrong was I. This was a big problem from the outset. We made a call to BB who advised that a company called CET would call within the hour. After 2 hours had passed we decided to call back having heard nothing. “Impossible Claims Process”

I tried to make a claim this morning for the first time. Terrible customer service and I felt like a criminal. Then was told that the underwriters would phone me back sometime in the next 24 hours to tell me if I am covered, even though it clearly states on my policy that I am. I explained that I cannot take calls at work and was told if I missed the call I would have to ring again and then wait a further 24 hours. I sincerely regret insuring with this company. “Claim Rejected”

Our first claim in approximately 15 years and it had to be with Bradford and Bingley! Unfortunately we had some storm damaged which resulted in part of our facia boards on the exposed side of the house being ripped off by the winds we had several weeks ago. I rang B&B and they sent out an assessor who was great and checked the damage and said that it was no problem it was obvious the house was in good repair and the damage had been caused by high winds.
