Overall I am happy with the service, but one thing is missing, easy contact for existing customers. Why do you insist on an 0844 number? I am also unhappy that your Change of Details form does not allow for us not having a House Number. Why? We live on a boat and moor in a marina. How can we possibly have a house number? “Secretly locked into never ending contract.”

I took out one years' home insurance with them after finding a good rate on money supermarket. After a year, they wrote to me telling my policy had ended, and I should pay them for another years' coverage. I didn't want to stay with them, preferring to choose a low deal myself, so I didn't reply back to them or enter into any correspondence. “it seems the claim is never covered!! ”

took out highest cover for building,contents along with home emergency, but when I had to contact them with an emergency for leaking pipe under kitchen sink they didn't want to know saying it was leaking and not gushing out even thou it had flooded out my kitchen, another time I had a concrete post overhanging my neighbours house from another level of height this post were endangering lives of my next doors young children, this company are very very unfair so warning before taking out policies… Read Full Review

“Found very easy to deal with.”

Had a claim for a damaged bedroom carpet which had a drink spilt on it. Had tried to get it industrial cleaned but with no success and proof from the cleaning company I then registered my claim. “Key cover insurance - I felt was very misleading ”

I have contents and building insurance with B&B. No problem wit that (but I haven't made a claim!). My issue is with the key cover insurance I was sold whilst on the phone with them. I consider myself a pretty aware sort of chap. But after buying this cover I got a letter in the post a few days later confirming cover and including a key fob. i would avoid like mad as when I took out the policy I was asked if I had made any claims on house hold insurance I said no as I hadn't. when I made a claim I was rejected as I had made a pervious claim, this is where the wording trickery was I had made a claim for a watch (which I may add was a specialist watch insurance cove 2 years ago), this was not home or contents insurance. “Horrendous experience!!”

I have home emergency cover and had a burst pipe under my kitchen sink. As a consequence our water had to be shut off. No problem I thought but how wrong was I. This was a big problem from the outset. We made a call to BB who advised that a company called CET would call within the hour. After 2 hours had passed we decided to call back having heard nothing. “Impossible Claims Process”

I tried to make a claim this morning for the first time. Terrible customer service and I felt like a criminal. Then was told that the underwriters would phone me back sometime in the next 24 hours to tell me if I am covered, even though it clearly states on my policy that I am. I explained that I cannot take calls at work and was told if I missed the call I would have to ring again and then wait a further 24 hours. I sincerely regret insuring with this company. “Claim Rejected”

Our first claim in approximately 15 years and it had to be with Bradford and Bingley! Unfortunately we had some storm damaged which resulted in part of our facia boards on the exposed side of the house being ripped off by the winds we had several weeks ago. I rang B&B and they sent out an assessor who was great and checked the damage and said that it was no problem it was obvious the house was in good repair and the damage had been caused by high winds. “Don't Even Think About It”

Had a policy with them for a year and didn't need to claim for anything. Earlier this year, I made the mistake of contacting them simply to check the policy excess as water was coming in. A month later, without having claimed a penny or indicated that I wished to pursue a claim, their complete lack of professionalism has resulted in my policy being cancelled without notice for no good reason! - "I'm afraid our underwriters won't allow us to renew your insurance." - "Why's that?" - "Because you made a claim on your insurance this year." - "So you're no longer prepared to provide a service for me because I once used your service?" - "That's right." And that "claim" was actually a phone call to report a bike stolen which the police - amazingly - swiftly recovered. So the claim was cancelled before it even got going. “Home insurance - renewal not allowed!!!!!!!!!”

Due to loss of bank cards over the summer my payment to Bradford and Bingley for home insurance policy was cancelled - when talking to 'customer service' at length I tried to renew the policy (existing for the past 5 years) using my new bank card details. “Don't buy this policy!”

First time in nearly 30 years that I have needed to claim on home insurance policy. Whist on holiday there was a thunderstorm and the electricity tripped so we lost the contents of the freezer and fridge. On Home Contents it is very difficult to get a policy with an excess that you pay of under £100 . Last year I did have a Post Office policy with an excess of £50 but that has disappeared. In 2012 I changed to a Bradford and Bingley policy whose insurers are now Legal and General I believe. I have £100 excess for most things on this polocy but for water ingress where the excess is a whopping £350. They won't do any less than this. The general principle about low cvost insurance for anything is that the underwriters have become increasingly skilled at protecting themselves against any payout, and the market is not working at all in the interests of the customer. You may feel protected but unlikely to get anything back without a fight.

I had Bradford & Bingley Home Insurance (which is part of BISL) upto 31.03.12. I informed them by telephone, when an advisor contacted me about the renewal price, that I did not want to renew and to cancel the policy. The advisor acknowledged me. “No waste your money”

This company is a joke. I have full home insurance with emergency call out. I have a gas leak in and internal pipe and have been told I am not covered. The policy defines buildings cover as 'all permenantly fixed drains, pipes and cables' but B&B state that gas pipes are excluded. This is not noted anywhere wihtin the policy nor the exclusions section. Have now reported them to ombudsmen and I am left with no gas supply (i.e. no heating, hot water or cooking facilities)… Read Full Review

“Terrible time settling a claim”

These guys are horrible when it comes to settling a claim. I have a fairly significant event over two months ago and I am being sent in circles. I am on my 5th agency and probably 10th person handling my claim and I can't get anywhere. Unless I call and push, push, push nothing happens. I have only ever received a call back once. It is worse than a utility company. When something does happen it always seems to be more of the same filling out of forms. They are a soulless operation not at all… Read Full Review

You're lucky! I've sent them two detailed letters about my indecent and I have not had any response!
I have now cancelled my policy but STILL they haven't replied, probably due to the fact they have set-up a continuous payment on my credit card and only THEY can stop this!

Be careful when renew the policy with them!!!
I got a quote from them and rung to check if I could get a lower price as I found cheaper options. Instantly I was offered lower price and was told that if I wouldn't ring to cancel the policy the lower price would stay. Now I found on my credit card statement that they charged me the initial price. They told me it was because I didn't ring to say I would prefer the lower price and they cancelled the lower offer to charge the full price.
