The Grand National is a national institution. Some people are unhappy when the horses fall or get hurt but many people enjoy the race. Millions of people around the world watch the race and it is a major event in the sporting calendar. I never place a bet on the race as the odds are so poor instead I usually end up in a office sweepstake. Would love to visit the event one day as it seems a really exciting experience and a great day out. It is at the end of the jumps season and marks the beginning of spring.
