DO NOT BUY ONE. Really disapointed in this BWM129 Hotpoint washer. Iv owned it for just over 18 months and had the repair men out rougly 10 times so far - each time for a sock or coin stuck in it. I now use a trainer bag to wash socks in as instructed by Hotpoint, their sock bag fell apart after just 1 use!, but strongly feel they should rectify the fault of too big a gap between the door seal and the drum instead. Not only does it love to get things stuck & refuse to spin properly, but when you can get it to spin it sounds like its going to rattle off, a big problem for us with an open plan kitchen.

Got this Hotpoint BWM12 as part of fitted kitchen - wish we'd read reviews first. 4 years on, the machine smells bad, marks and tears clothes. Sounds like the space shuttle taking off, have to use it at night only. Think we've been luckier that most re call-outs but still majorly disappointed.

Without question this is the worst washing machine i have ever had the misfortune to purchase. The hotpoint bwm12 machine continuously leaks water from the powder drawer. Over the two years we have owned it it has been repaired seven times. The bearings are a complete disaster having been repaired 5 times. The door seal has been repaired. It must be more economical and less frustrating to go to the launderette or a nearby stream to wash your clothes on some rocks

Would not recommend it to anybody. Am on the third call out for repair and machine is not even 2 years old. Took extended warranty out but have not had an engineer out in less than 7 days of reporting each fault. Each time the machine has broken down it has been full of water and is very difficult and heavy to pull out of gap it was designed to fit. Also it was a very quite machine as stated when new, now sounds like a tractor!

Overall, the Hotpoint BWM12 washing machine and its parts guarantee aren't worth the paper they are written on. I found it more cost effective to buy a new washing machine for the cost of getting this repaired!!

Any small item easily gets trapped in the filter, which means the machine will not empty. You have to drag the machine out (very heavy as full of water), tilt it up, unscrew the filter and remove the article, ie. 1p coin or baby sock. We are also on our third filter, as they have broken when we have had to unscrew, and these are £18.95 each.

I would not recommend the Hotpoint BWM12 washing machine. I wish I had paid the extra money and got one of the expensive brands (Bosch, AEG), and ...

If you buy a Hotpoint BWM12 make sure you take out the extended warranty,as it aint gonna last!
This problem is a known fault with the machine I am told.
I would expect better from Hotpoint!

Hotpoint BWM12 - We are told by good sources that the BWM12 ia actually (and I quote) an Indesit washer marked up as Hotpoint. Is this a ploy to sell these machines? We were also told that the machine has a very bad service record.
