Good Points: I thought the service was very good with the young waiters and waitresses being attentive and smartly dressed.

Bad Points: Both my husband and I have dined at the Hungry Monk several times and can really not fault it. The prices of the main courses would be the only thing I would find fault with.

General comments: While on holiday in Puerto Rico in Gran Canary my granddaughter was having a steak and said 'This is the 3rd best steak I've ever tasted.' When her dad asked her where she has eaten the best steak she said The Hungry Monk at Langbank. She usually has steak every time she goes out for dinner so is quite a connoisseur. She is however only young. It was just before Christmas when we visited the restaurant and was a cold wet night. We dined in the conservatory which was really lovely. A very enjoyable experience.

I found the Hungry Monk hugely disappointing. I'd have been better going for a steak at a wetherspoons, it would have come with the same embarassingly 70's onion ring and tomato combo, and I wouldn't have had to pay a ludicrous £2.95 for a creamy, tasteless gloop masquerading as pepper sauce. Over ten pounds for a penne arrabiata that had seen about as much chilli as a new born penguin and fajitas that, to me, screamed out MR BEN'S. The starters, to be fair, had an air of invention about ...

Asked for chicken and mushroom pie. It was chicken and leek with two whole mushrooms hidden at the end of the pastry not too keen on leeks and the description didn't say leeks in the dish. Thought the food and wine was overpriced. Wouldn't rush back mainly because of the cost

I always enjoy my meals at the Hungry Monk. I eat there once a month with my partner and we always receive a first class service and enjoy our food. The restaurant is always spotless even when busy. I think that the place is great.

The Hungry Monk gives Pub Grub food, but at double the price. Most pubs would do better quality than what we had. I would say that one course out of the four we ordered was pretty good, but still way overpriced. I read the other reviews and only wished I heeded them. Don't know what the prices are like on their lunch menu, but the evening menu is way too expensive. Once bitten...

This restaurant has to be one of my favourites, I read the reviews from other people last night prior to my meal and wondered if the standard had dropped, I was very glad to find they were both wrong and ridiculous. We arrived 30 mins early and were seated at the bar with drinks till the table was ready, our drinks were taken to our table for us and we received excellent service throughout the night, and were pleasantly surprised with the bill. For 5 adults drinking wine and 3 of us managing des ...

I have dined here on a number of occasions (though never again) and have been consistently disappointed with the either over-fussy or inattentive service. There are too many different members of staff involved in dealing with each table so you never know who to ask if you have a problem. When we asked the wrong person, the staff could be quite off in their manner. I personally find the food is mediocre in quality and has a tendency to be over-cooked as if it has been sitting around for a whi ...

No way was the chicken portion worth £16 at the Hungry Monk restaurant in Langbank. I did raise the issue with management and was told that the surrounding food made up the difference. But in my opinion, a half tomato, small bowl of rice, small portion of chips and three onion rings did not make up the difference. We will not be returning.

I have eaten at the Hungry Monk restaurant in Langbank on several occasions, and each time it has been a very pleasant experience. I have been both with and without my small children on each trip, so I have seen it from both sides as it were. The staff segregate families and couples very well!! I cannot fault the Hungry Monk at Langbank. It may not be the cheapest, but it is certainly among the best. If you want the cheapest then go to MacDonald's (smiley face).

Hi, if you are thinking of going to the Hungry Monk in Langside, then read on......... The service from the waiter/ess was friendly. That's where the good points stop. The food was well over salted. I had complained to the Restaurant Manager. He said that he would speak to the chef, but he never came back. I had to approach him for an outcome. He said that he had spoken to the chef and said that he did not season the food..however i told him that I had Hotel Management qualifications, been a R ...

The Hungry Monk restaurant in Langbank lives on a reputation of high quality eating, from a generation that saw large portions meaning posh. Portions are are not large, and the price is unjustifiable.
