“Never a single problem ”

I've been insuring my dogs with Tesco for years, on and off when I can afford it. Never a single problem with payout. Once I had to go through a lengthy interrogation, which was not nice, but the outcome was still positive. I've claimed for injuries and illnesses, Tesco are very good, as long as the claim is genuine and follows their T&C's. Their customer service has always been polite and helpful. I am prepared that one day they may reject my claim, but I think I'll try to see their side of things then, because in my experience, they do not try to get out of paying when there is no good reason for it.

We recently lost out three and half year old Westie we had him to an emergency vet our own vet who referred him to a hospital vet to try and save his life unfortunately although the vets really tried he passed away . The hospital vet made their own claim through our Tesco insurance our own vet made a claim as did we also claimed for emergency vet Tesco when we rang told us we could also claim for cremation costs which we did. All claims were paid in full no hassles as we were grieving it was nice to have no upsets and all correspondence was very nice sending condolences so thank you Tesco.

I do not know why other reviews not so good. I can not praise Tesco’s pet insurance enough. Each claim has been handled very efficiently . I sadly had to say goodbye to my gorgeous boy and the claims department were very sensitive. I was kept informed of my claim progress... and I received a letter of condolences. I highly recommend. “Cat Put To Sleep following referral. ”

Had to take our sick Cat to a specialist hospital it was thought she had an ear infection then a decision to X Ray and if possible remove her ear canal as the smell was terrible and we could not keep treating her with Antibiotics. The local Vet and the Specialist referral centre were excellent and caring. Sadly our precious Cat had to be put to sleep peacefully as Bone Cancer was discovered. Tesco Insurance was efficient, caring and paid the claim in full less the excess of course. We cannot thank them enough. Sorry to see other poor reviews on here but I can only state my experience was 5/5. I even passed my thanks on to their team directly.

My dog was hit by a car recently (and luckily survived due to excellent veterinary care). While the whole experience was very worrying and stressful it was made much easier to cope with the by the incredibly professional and knowledgeable staff at Tesco Pet Insurance Because my claim dealt with two aspects of a claim (vet care and third part liability for the car driver) I have had to deal with two separate Claims departments, but they were both equally kind, helpful and informative, making it very easy for me to take the right steps to get everything sorted. I have had my dogs covered with Tesco for years and every renewal date I have been contacted by other providers offering cheaper cover but I am so so glad that I did not move away! Thank you so much, you never want to have to use a service like this, but when you do it's great that people make it as straightforward as possible for you.

Highly recommended, only had policy 11 months but had to make a claim. Despite only paying £12.50 monthly they settled a claim for nearly £2500.00 Claim dealt with quickly, girl on phone really polite and helpful. Cannot understand negative reviews if you read policy conditions it is clear what is covered. Highly recommended, just renewed again.

I thought tesco were a little on the expensive side, but just as I was about to cancel my cat fell ill. There were 2 separate claims put in and they covered the cost total £2000 without any hassle. The customer service were very helpful and sympathetic. I will stay with Tesco for life.

Had Tesco pet insurance for approx 5 years couldnt have been more satisfied with their handling of 2 claims we had, very quick to pay out and when we had cancelled our insurance due to our dog dying they were so sympathetic even sending a letter to state how sorry they were to hear it and they cancelled the direct debit without any hassle. Would definetly recommend to anyone. 5* service.

My cat took ill paid myself then had to take him back again he was very I'll so had to have him put to sleep I had to pay the night shift vets separate then the vets needed paying for the days he was in I phoned tesco they were quick at sending out the forms and paying myself and the vets took about 3weeks and that was with Christmas in between they also sent their condolences with the cheque made me feel like they cared found the helpline lady very helpful

I have been with Tesco pet insurance for the past 4 years and have just made my first claim following an emergency operation that my dog required. Each advisor I spoke with was very helpful and genuinely seemed to care about my pet's condition (even offering some aftercare advice!) The claim was dealt with in good time and has been settled within a few weeks. All in all, a very good experience.

My dog had an abscess which proved too painful for him to allow vet near whilst conscious so had to be sedated and then vet was able to deal with. My pet insurance covered all of this and over two weeks of aftercare. My excess was £60 and the insurance paid the rest. Ok the cost was not huge; only £258.38 but it was covered by insurance. Initially, it was thought he had an ear infection. I opted for my vets to deal with Tesco Pet insurance directly once I had paid my excess, pleased I didn't have to pay out then reclaim. Think this is a great option that is offered with Tesco Pet Insurance along with the wonderful people that you have to speak to initially on the claim line. Just received my confirmation of cost to say that my bill has been settled. How wonderful and professional. Certainly a selling factor & something such as this is worth considering when looking to buy pet insurance.

We received all of the claim (bar the £60 excess) for our 10 year old labrador who had severe dehydration. It took about a month from when we sent the forms to the vet to receiving a cheque. Tesco Insurance sent a text message saying they had received the forms and were processing the claim. Total claim was approximately £2500.

I had only been signed up for a few weeks and lucky I was as my jack Russell ruptured a cruciate soon after. I was worried they wouldn't process my claim after only being in for a short time. However they did and I claimed over £1000 for exams and an operation. I'm still claiming for hydrotherapy. I don't usually leave reviews but am amazed with tescos customer service and the claims process is so simple.

“No quibble, fast and efficient”

Our cocker spaniel was insured with Tesco from 12 weeks of age until he sadly passed away at age 11. Had to claim a number of times over the years for ear and mouth infections. Received excellent service, always paid out with minimum fuss. Towards the end of his years he became seriously ill, requiring in-patient treatment by our vet and when all avenues had been explored, he was sadly put to sleep. On contacting Tesco Insurance, I was met with courtesy and an expression of sorrow on the part of the Tesco staff member, who immediately cancelled the premium payment and when I submitted the bill, I received prompt payment without question. Whilst I will not, for personal,reasons, have another pet and therefore not use the service, I would not hesitate to recommend Tesco to any other pet owner.

“Well worth the money”

My cat had been a little unwell for which I had taken him to the vets and not thought about claiming as the excess is £50 and the first bill was £58 and the second £71. At the time I didn't realise that the first £50 paid for the same condition counts as the excess which is great. Unfortunately my cat became very poorly with a blocked bladder, something which is life threatening in cats. I had to take him to my vets out of hours where he stayed for two nights undergoing various procedures including scans, fluid infusions and catheterisation to name a few. I then had a couple of follow ups once he was home. The running cost of this bill (including what I paid the first two times) came to nearly £1100!! Don't get me wrong, I love my cat but in no way would I imagine anyone to have those funds to hand or want the burden of putting it on a credit card. Due to tesco being very respected and trusted by my veterinary practice they performed a direct claim. This is where all the treatment was completed then they filled out the claim form for me (admin fee of about £13). I did not pay anything. From here within about a month the vets received a cheque from tesco for the desired amount (minus £50 excess) and the vets credited me what I was owed. At all times I was kept informed of the process via tesco and that my cat will be covered for a further year for the same condition. Having only paid £8 total per month for both cats last year, then about £12 per month this year for both I have more than got my money back. What a nice change for something to do what it says on the tin. I'm really surprised to see other negative reviews. I will be staying with teacos for the foreseeable future. Thanks very much!

“Absolutely excellent would highly recommend”

My Ridgeback has been insured with Tesco for 2 years now and they have paid out in 2 claims over £4500. At no time have they quibbled with completing the claims and unlike a lot of insurers my vets still trust Tesco and will deal with them direct rather than making me pay up front. Their helpline is very efficient and helpful and when I called out of hours and spoke with one of their veterinary nurses for advice about hugely expensive test which I had been recommended by my vet, she offered me very sound advice which saved my dog untold discomfort and Tesco another huge claim. Thank you so much, without Tesco pet insurance I would now be in debt by nearly £5k! Working in the insurance industry I know how important it is to read the small print and understand the cover which you are purchasing. You cannot expect any company to pay out for pre-existing medical conditions or treatment for which you are not covered.

I have had a claim as my dog developed diabetes. He has now gone blind with cataracts as a result of the diabetes. Would the cataracts be classed as a new claim?
