Tesco went from bad to worse, which was extremely hard. They scrambled out of paying for a non pre existing condition, linking it to a comment a vet had said. We currently have an ongoing ombudsman case about this. Now they will not pay out on something they had pre authorized. They are shameful and don't care about their customers or their pets. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Waste of time, tesco made an error last year. They have taken no responsibility, not paid out. However they had no trouble taking all my DD payments.

Avoid like the plague. When I had my shar pei puppy was noticed she had mild entropy and was stated by my vet no treatment was needed. After 6 years she had to have eye surgery as she had an eye ulcer and they will not pay the fees for vet surgery to clear this ulcer as it was noted this entropy was recorded in 2016. Even though I have had her insured with Tesco since 2017 after free insurance given with the price of the puppy they are refusing this claim. I shall be insuring her in future somewhere else in future

Paid 10years. My dog has a heart murmur 5 years ago. Never was a problem. Until now she needs tablets for heart failure. But has been refused any help. Because I didn’t say she had a heart murmur. They have taken payments for 10 years. Disgusting.

Never claimed, however just received my renewal policy by which they have increase my annual premium by a massive 49.5%. Avoid Tesco Pet Insurance, disgusting.

DO NOT BOTHER TO INSURE YOUR PET WITH TESCO PET INSURANCE, they take their monthly premium but then refuse to payout for any treatment. £300 Vets bill, first ever claim with them after 3 years of being with them. Feeble excuses but they won't discuss the case further. Even the vet says their reasons for non-payment is out of order, he has been seeing our cat for over 10 years and therefore knows her history.

I have 4 Cats, one of my youngest cats was unfortunately bitten on the tail, we took him to the vets that was open at the time (in normal working hours) to get checked out. The vet said he was probably bitten by another cat. My cat was given antibiotics and a cone collar and sent home. The cat collar was next to useless because the injury was 3/4 of the way up the tail so he could lick the affected area anyway. We had to take our cat back to our local vet (slightly nearer) for further antibiotic treatment because his tail was beginning to swell again and fill with puss. By this time the policy had renewed and gone into a new policy year.(Two Excesses had to be paid) Our cat had to go back to vets yet again because he had started being sick; he threw up the food he had eaten and then continued to bring up just liquid. The vet thinks it was the puss from the wound and maybe the antibiotics as well considering he had been on the medication everyday for just over a week. To remedy this, he was given an anti-sickness injection. This third visit coincided with the vet wanting to sign our cat off because they thought the injury was healing okay. We don't think it is, but who are we right? So the initial bill was £81.50, then £62.41 for the second trip and £53.11 for the third, all equating to £196.02. Because the injury went from one policy year to another we had to pay TWO excesses: £60+£60= £120, and Tesco Pet insurance wouldn't pay for the last visit because they said the cat wasn't sick due to the treatment!!! To summarise; I paid out £196.02 to the vets (plus my monthly payments of around £50.00 for the 4 cats), and Tesco Pet INS paid me the grand total of £23.91 back. Really I should have got back £196.02 minus the £60 excess = £136.02. Not £23.91!!! What is the point of having this Insurance? I've had cats all my life (I’m 47) and I’ve never suggested - when maybe I should’ve - that they put all these little clauses in just to minimise the financial damage their end. I'm quite happy to pay £600 per year - YES £600 for cover of my 4 cats - but when I put in a claim... BLOODY PAYOUT. P.S social media is a fantastic thing and of course I will be using this Bodacious, Splendiferous and down right Awesome tool to spread the message AND if I get more than say- 10 likes I'll be giving £10 to my local RSPCA centre so some good will come out of it and as for our cat’s tail lets just say it's not PURRFECT! Sorry. TTFN (Ta ta for now). Regards

Hadn’t claimed fir my dog yet the renewal nearly doubled in price. When I phoned to query was told told your dig is getting old and we expectt you will be making a claim because of his sge. Says it all really. Tesco not a caring company just money grabbers. Needless to say I haven’t renewed and hope this discourages any one else for getting tricked by them.

Quite a few (what I consider) surprising exclusions, and not made clear but buried deep in the contract . I found this out to my expense when my dog had an impacted tooth - not included The premiums are appalling - all well and good. When u have a young dog but as your pet get older the premiums become extortionate. Of course I understand how insurance works , but having had the insurance for my dog since he was a pup , and without a claim for 12 years a renewal in excess of £60 per month seemed ludicrous . Once he got into his senior years the annual premium was rising about £10 per month. In Hindsight I should have cancelled much earlier and chosen another insurer (which I eventually I did considerably cheaper with less exclusions) And beware - when you do cancel -make sure you cancel the direct debit. Despite cancelling they still tried to take my money and then sent me a stroppy letter .

Cancelling after one year because I made a claim, they have put my premium up by over 50 per cent. Be warned !

We had been with Tesco for over 4 years, Each year they put up the payments without explanation and this month was the last straw as they took out 2 payments within 3 days of each other and when we rang up to enquire the customer service person we spoke to (Tan) was very rude and augmentative, he never once listened to the customer and when I told him that his attitude is disgusting he just brushed it off and just carried on. I wouldn't recommend Tesco Pet Insurance to anybody

They take money from your account ment to be on mnthly plan but they take money when they want and how much they want. Customer service waste of time.

It would seem that we have been paying to not be insured for anything as any claim is always greeted with some caveat or other re previous unrelated conditions and stalling tactics.

Tesco increased our premium by 25% this year for our small crossbreed dog. She has been insured with them since we got her, aged 2. She is 9 now and we have had just one claim. Although diagnosed with a cardiac problem she has been well ever since. Tesco say we are not tied into them but we are as we cannot get insurance elsewhere for a nine year old dog with a history. So much for loyalty.

I had 2 dogs insured with Tesco and when I received their renewals they were extortionate, in fact I would have been paying over £200 per month for both dogs. When I phoned and asked why they had increased, their response was they looked at claims for small dogs and increased it in line with the claims! I got the same policies for each dog for £25 per month per dog elsewhere. To top it all, Tesco continued taking money from my bank for the first dog I cancelled and when I phoned up to question it, they said I had 'reinstated' the policy. I did not, but what I did do was phone them up as they had sent me a letter to say I had cancelled my DD and I thought I had cancelled the DD for my other dog, I did not reinstate it. Anyway, after them telling me I could not be refunded the money they had taken, I wrote them a letter and told them that, if they did not reimburse me, I would be going to the insurance ombudsman and, surprise, surprise, they reimbursed me within days! Never would I use Tesco again nor would I recommend them. I also had a rather large claim for one of my dogs and they did not pay out for months. I had to keep chasing them and so did the vet.

I have had pet insurance from Tesco for 8 years. Last year's renewal quote was a joke (an increase of over 50%), so I applied online for a quote directly from Tesco which was the same price as my previous premium for exactly the same cover. This year my renewal quote was again a staggering 54% dearer than last year. I had not made any claims. I phoned them to ask why. Apparently I had received a new customer discount (news to me). They offered me 1000 clubcard points or a £10 gift voucher to stay with them at the higher rate. NO THANKS YOU ROBBING BEES! More Th>n offer slightly better cover for a reasonable premium so I went with them.
