Good Points: Tempted by the half price premiums which in retrospect I shouldnt have been!
Bad Points: My 7 month old puppy needed extensive investigations of her urinary tract at the begining of June which cost me £500. I still havent been re imbursed. I enquired by phone to be informed that they have a backlog of claims and should expect to hear in the next six weeks.
General comments: Very disappointed in the very slow response to my claim. I will be changing insurers if and when they pay out.

Had one small claim whilst covered with Tesco Pet Insurance and they dealt with it quite quickly (in 6 weeks).
Not sure that the service I received warranted a price hike of over £20 per month!

My kitten is 10 months old. In April he was diagnosed with porto systemic shunt - resulting in over £2000 in vets fees. First claim for went off early May.....and still nothing. Apparently they require a medical history of the kitten. The vet has faxed this 3 times to Tesco. Tesco still insisting they haven't received it! Don't know what to do short of driving up there myself and handing them a copy. Once this is sorted it's back to pet plan for me.

Not only did I have to sit and watch a much loved cat slowly dying, before the vets discovered he had CRF and ultimately put to sleep, but now I find Tesco are being more than a touch reticent about paying up.
I wasn't overly bothered about the mounting vet bills as he was insured, but I still had to find just under £800 (borrowed from friends and family as how many people have that sort of cash spare?) Up to present Tesco have had my claim for a month now, and when I phoned a week ago ...

Tesco Pet Insurance have a 12 months limit on a condition - took dog to see eye specialist and they told me to leave cataracts for a while. Mentioned to Tesco about cataracts. Didn't claim about the testing for her eyes as thought would do it all together. When I went back and saw the Vet to begin the procedure of getting the cataracts sorted, Tesco told me that I couldn't claim as it was I was near the time limit of claiming.
I've never claimed on my Tesco policy and she's a small JRT and I ...

Tesco Pet Insurance Review - Submitted a claim in October 07 for a biopsy for possible bone tumour in our Labrador. After persistent calls and eventually in January being told the claim was rejected due to an ongoing arthritic condition, the vet has submitted a detailed report and history stating clearly this is a new condition. Asked on 15th Feb for immediate settlement, and have had to ring again today to be told their Specialist advisor have asked for more details! I feel they don't care a ...

The best non specialist pet insurance is Sainsburys and Marks and Spencers, as they will cover your pet for one condition for its whole life! Pet Plan, Pet protect RSPCA, are some of the best insurances available.
When you take out pet insurance always check that your pet will be covered for life for any condition. Sainsburys also cover your pets private cremation.
Do not let your pets down, they deserve better than Tesco or Argos insurance!

Made two claims over a two year period and had no problems apart from i had to keep chasing Tesco Pet Insurance all the time. Made a new claim as one of our cats fell ill on Boxing day, so emergency vets (very expensive) called Tesco's a few days later after our cat had been treated to ask for a claims form, after about ten minutes on the phone, i was told that I doubt that i would be able to get any money back as it was after the 12 month period allowed and that i should have phone Tesco's fir ...

Have only had one claim two years ago the other claim was rejected, Have been with Tesco Pet Insurance since 2000. This years premium has shot up from £24.22 to £32.70. This is ridiculous even though our dog is 11! Am putting another claim in in the next few weeks and then not sure if I should cancel the policy. They only pay out up to one year and not for how long your pet is ill. Wouldn't use them again.

Still trying to get money owed to us for our dogs leg condition in June. Now that money is desperately needed for Christmas. Initially they were dealing with the case and and it was being processed. Then the person dealing with the case only worked Mondays and Tuesdays . Now we have been told that our previous vet has lost records of a visit which wasn't even related to the condition and they cant pay. Trading standards will have a field dayBob and Maria. Lincs

I have had three claims rejected now by Tesco Pet Insurance. My Vet was very surprised by all three rejections. The first claim rejected was for a haematoma on one ear of one of my dogs. The claim was rejected because she was recovering from a mild case of ear irritation - Tesco said that this could have caused the dog to rub her ear thus injuring it and therefore they wouldn't pay. My Vet said to me, that this was unprovable and secondly did it matter what caused it , isn't that what you p ...

My cat was treated for a urinary tract infection and the bill came to around £200. That was nearly 3 months ago and they have still not paid. Customer service is rubbish as they use every excuse they can think of to fob you off, I've lost count of the amount of times I've been told my claim is 'being dealt with'. Despite numerous letters and phone calls, I am still out of pocket. Avoid Tesco pet insurance.

Have you noticed that your cats teeth are not covered on the pet insurance with Tesco, and this is a common problem with cats, so why treat this complaint any different from anything else if your cat is in discomfort from bad teeth? They need veterinary treatment..however, one way round this is a lot of vets will carry out treatment under a different category, as they feel this is an unjust policy.

Have tried to make a claim for an operation to remove a grass seed from my dogs ear, after two years premiums for two dogs we have received nothing but poor customer service. By mistake our vet filled in a continuation form instead of a new claim form and because our last claim was more than 12 months ago, Tescos have refused to pay out. After numerous phone calls and letters from ourselves, our vets and the insurance ombudsman we have received nothing but poor customer service. Not recommended ...

Tesco Pet Insurance would not pay out, saying it was a pre existing condition, but the condition was never diagnosed originally. Our dog had been treated for a bite with pirotin, and this fact was twisted into an excuse for them not to pay.
