“Smart metre upgrade”

british gas contacted me saying I could upgrade to smart meters so I took up the opportunity, the appointment was in 8 weeks time WOW, I have to wait 8 weeks for something they wanted me to have. my appointment was for the 10th june between 12 and 5 I got home at half 11 so I didn't miss them, at 14 45 the fitter phoned and said he wasn't coming because they had ran out of meters lol. “Whats going on?”

I know through years of living at my address my usage for gas and electric is around £150 per month regardless of supplier. All previous suppliers try to get me the account holder to pay more because they actually get fined if they allow a customer to get into debt so they try to keep you in credit. Given I know this Im used to arguing with my supplier till eventually I get my rebate or reduced direct debit. “On and on and on!”

We have ordered a gas boiler. Simple huh? No! We had to send paperwork through. Fifteen times we sent paperwork and fifteen times they said they hadn't received it despite those I copied in got all of the details. They even offered to get someone to call me to tell how to send an email. (I have run companies for 36 years!)We must have made over 30 calls. We were so frustrated. “Chaos”

We let a property out and British Gas keeps on sending us bills when the property has been empty for the last 3 months. They have even passed our details to a credit company; we are totally disgusted by their bad customer service. They had assured us that they would solve the problem. “Watch out, they can easily ruin your credit file”

If you decide you want to move away from their overpriced energy supply, watch out for their final bill. They might forget to send it and simply refer you to a credit agency as default - it will be impossible to get any finance/loans/mortgages after this. It took me several months to make a switch (they kept refusing my new supplier) and in the end they ruined my credit score because of their inefficiency. I needed to get my boiler repaired, so I book their boiler repair + homecare service for the year. The engineer came but could not fix the boiler and informed me because of that I was not eligible to the homecare policy. I was offered a quote for repair but never got it by email as their operator never took my email correctly and this could not be fixed easily (only IT department could do so apparently, and this takes time). Our old boiler was covered under British Gas' HomeCare plan and when we stopped getting hot water we called them out to come and look at it. Booked on the Saturday and they came on Wednesday. Was told that the previous owners had previously been warned that the boiler would need a filter fixing and now the same problem had come up. “'shrug boy' engineer showed real care for customer”

After twenty five years using British gas with my supply and a number of their cover products I was disgusted with the engineer who came out to fix my boiler on Wednesday night. I am asthmatic and struggle when the temperature drops below a certain level. “I had higher expectations”

My scores reflect my experience of British gas. Booking the work and paying excellent experience. But I had issues with the engineer firstly he informed me he would not be inspecting part of the installation even though I had paid for a landlord cert and the appliance mentioned was connected to the gas. Secondly the tests he performed were not adequate. his soundness test lasted just over a minute. Got a quote today for a new boiler that needed to be relocated. What madness that the guy decided that blocking off half my kitchen window with a false wlall was the best course of action. How rediculous would that look if ever I wanted to sell the house. He was being totally unrealistic and I lost confidence in him almost immediately. For the month of January I got charged £166 baring in mind I live in a two bedroom little cottage with thick walls and lots of shelter (doesn't take much to heat up) I asked for a summary emailing and they never sent one...I rang them again and asked for them to tell me a break down of my summary and they refused to tell me why I had to pay south! “Refused even to register a complaint!”

I was dealing with British Gas and wished to raise a complaint due to poor customer service and repeated mistakes. After saying I wished to complain I was given the run around and put on-hold etc. They refused to register a complaint!!! This is the actions of some outfit who are clearly trying to 'reduce complaints' to meet a target. To be so low as to even ignore complaints shows a sense of no ethics at all. We paid for British Gas to install a brand new boiler and heating/hot water system and if we could go back and choose any other supplier we would. Two years later and we still have no hot water to the bathroom.... none! “Overpriced and unreliable boiler service”

I had a homecare 400 agreement for years to service my boiler and heating system. I believed they were doing it well until I found that the boiler they fitted for over £3,000 could have been done for half that. In addition to that, the boiler has failed after 5 years. The reason fo the failure was that British Gas had left a serious leak in the boiler for years while servicing it. British Gas market their HomeCare service/insurance agreements, specifically the plumbing and drains cover, knowing that they are not able to provide through Dyno-Rod the service for which their customers have paid. This constitutes a deliberate attempt to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception. “Sorted my problem”

Had a problem with one of our radiators taking a long tim to heat up, contacted British Gas, as we have Homecare. They sent an Engineer to look at it, tried to find problem but said he would have to come back as no obvious blockage. He came back a day later and was there for over two hours and eventually sorted the problem. “Life Savers - You Are The Best”

What can I say. British Gas Homecare is the best. They do as they say on the agreement. I called at 5pm with a leak on a Friday evening! The plumber arrived an hour later, sorted the problem and left us with our home in one piece. 

I would recommend them to everyone. For a small amount each month it's worth every penny. The plumber was absolutely fabulous. I have got to hand it to British Gas, I wouldn't dream of changing anything. Thank you.

“Home Care”

I called British gas on Saturday 10th January to come and fix my tenant's boiler which suddenly stopped working. The boiler was only 8 months old so was still under guarantee, but because the company were unable to come until the Monday I did not want my tenant to be without hot water and heating for 2 days.
