“Disgusting customer service ”

I've been with British gas for nearly 20 years. Always on pay as you go meters for both gas and electricity. Having rung them last week to go to paperbill they declined saying I had low credit score. When I questioned this I was told to get score from experian and they even gave me telephone number. So I did just that. I've now found that my credit score is very good. PENSIONERS BEWARE!! DO NOT USE BRITISH GAS I have been a British Gas customer for 4 years. My usage has been roughly the same each year. Then this year I suddenly got a bill for $300+ for just one quarter!!! I am a pensioner and live alone. Nothing has changed. “Bunch of Gangsters”

After being with British Gas for over 2 years my direct debit kept creeping up by them until it reached £130pm. I only had a small 2 bed terraced so decided to move suppliers, I provided a meter reading which stated I was owed £430 which seemed right as I was paying so much every month. I have personal experience of British Gas's appalling billing procedures, where I moved into a new home and it took months for them to get my address right - and then, two years after moving out of there, I was being contacted by a debt collection agency as, in amending my address, they had actually registered me for two different ones and was chasing me for the one I hadn't been paying. “Just Awful!”

Has to be some of the worst service I have ever encountered in the UK. Spoke to three different individuals who each provided conflicting information. “BOILER SERVICE”

You must be one of the lucky ones. Have been trying to arrange an annual boiler service for two months. Engineer did not turn up the first appointment, nor the second appointment am waiting to see whether they turn up the third appointment. “Central Heating Maintenance Contract”

I have had a maintenance contract for my central heating with British Gas for 8 years. My heating went wrong last night so called for an engineer this morning at around 8.30 am. Was told an engineer would arrive between 12 and 4pm . At 4 I rang to ask about the call out and was told it would be betweem 12 and 6pm???? No point in arguing too much!. “needs investigation and shutting down!”

Moved to my new property.British gas were the suppliers. Phoned British gas 4th Nov 2016,I was told an engineer would be out within4 hours. 7.30pm I received a call from the agent to cancel. I called British gas again, explained the situation, another engineer was booked. “Bad Customer Service”

I phoned British gas asked about the low user rate as i got it last year, they said i used to much gas to qualifie to receive it. I called British Gas regarding the position on my pay as you go meter "as it was two high", I found out that it was over 6 and a half feet high making it a health and safety issue. I spent almost 2 hours being transferred to a total of five different advisers, I had repeating the same story and issues due to staff not following handing over procedures. The first free were unable to help "providing conflicting information", the forth adviser disregarded the health and safety issue at hand and gave me an appointment to have the meter moved in a months times. The fifth person tried to do the bests she could to rectify the others mistakes but was unable to book an appointment for a nearer date.

“Negligent and deceitful”

Decided to go with British Gas as large, reputable company, thought we'd be safer with guarantees etc. Salesman took a look and implied that it was a very straightforward job. we were being charged over 200 pound a month and found out our meter was faulty so they came to fit us a smart meter. this was showing we were using £1.40 - £1.50 a day way under what we were being charged. “How does this company make a profit with such bad...”

Where do I start? 1) British Gas closed my account by accident without my authorisation. 2) Then they take £1,621 out of my bank account for arrears on the account,without even telling me. 3) I give them new readings from the estimates they were using. Similar - kept sending us estimated bills even though we had given several readings, they were not being applied to our account. Spent two hours on the phone with them one day trying to sort it out and explaining that the estimated bills were way more than we could possibly have used. Told us we owed £1800 so we did a u switch and went to another company leaving the British Gas bill in query with the Ombudsman. Told our new supplier what we were being charged by British Gas and they laughed - currently in credit with new supplier paying £70 a month on dual fuel. British Gas are still chasing their money - we keep throwing it back in query.
