“I had higher expectations”

My scores reflect my experience of British gas. Booking the work and paying excellent experience. But I had issues with the engineer firstly he informed me he would not be inspecting part of the installation even though I had paid for a landlord cert and the appliance mentioned was connected to the gas. Secondly the tests he performed were not adequate. his soundness test lasted just over a minute. “Couldn't really understand what I was being quoted for! ”

Got a quote today for a new boiler that needed to be relocated. What madness that the guy decided that blocking off half my kitchen window with a false wlall was the best course of action. How rediculous would that look if ever I wanted to sell the house. He was being totally unrealistic and I lost confidence in him almost immediately. “Outrageous!”

For the month of January I got charged £166 baring in mind I live in a two bedroom little cottage with thick walls and lots of shelter (doesn't take much to heat up) I asked for a summary emailing and they never sent one...I rang them again and asked for them to tell me a break down of my summary and they refused to tell me why I had to pay south! “Refused even to register a complaint!”

I was dealing with British Gas and wished to raise a complaint due to poor customer service and repeated mistakes. After saying I wished to complain I was given the run around and put on-hold etc. They refused to register a complaint!!! This is the actions of some outfit who are clearly trying to 'reduce complaints' to meet a target. To be so low as to even ignore complaints shows a sense of no ethics at all. “WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH”

We paid for British Gas to install a brand new boiler and heating/hot water system and if we could go back and choose any other supplier we would. Two years later and we still have no hot water to the bathroom.... none! We didn't just pay over 8k for the installation but signed up for their Homecare, we chose the premium service to include pipework and drainage and so felt assured we would be covered for any issues... they have sent engineer after engineer to the house all of which have done… Read Full Review

“Overpriced and unreliable boiler service”

I had a homecare 400 agreement for years to service my boiler and heating system. I believed they were doing it well until I found that the boiler they fitted for over £3,000 could have been done for half that. In addition to that, the boiler has failed after 5 years. The reason fo the failure was that British Gas had left a serious leak in the boiler for years while servicing it. British Gas market their HomeCare service/insurance agreements, specifically the plumbing and drains cover, knowing that they are not able to provide through Dyno-Rod the service for which their customers have paid. This constitutes a deliberate attempt to obtain a pecuniary advantage by deception. “Sorted my problem”

Had a problem with one of our radiators taking a long tim to heat up, contacted British Gas, as we have Homecare. They sent an Engineer to look at it, tried to find problem but said he would have to come back as no obvious blockage. He came back a day later and was there for over two hours and eventually sorted the problem. “Life Savers - You Are The Best”

What can I say. British Gas Homecare is the best. They do as they say on the agreement. I called at 5pm with a leak on a Friday evening! The plumber arrived an hour later, sorted the problem and left us with our home in one piece. 

I would recommend them to everyone. For a small amount each month it's worth every penny. The plumber was absolutely fabulous. I have got to hand it to British Gas, I wouldn't dream of changing anything. Thank you.

“Home Care”

I called British gas on Saturday 10th January to come and fix my tenant's boiler which suddenly stopped working. The boiler was only 8 months old so was still under guarantee, but because the company were unable to come until the Monday I did not want my tenant to be without hot water and heating for 2 days.

“Dangerous and Incompetent”

Boiler cuts out, have Homecare with BG. After 3 attempts to fix, still cuts out. Next Carbon Monoxide alarms goes off as boiler now leaking after last visit. National Grid have to disable boiiler and gas supply. Arrange another visit from BG and ask to ensure they have all parts and know history/details. No show by 6pm. “Really bad customer service ”

After Three! Engineers called out on a new boiler non fixed the prob. Leak and the Noise was terrible! stressed out they sent the fourth Engineer! “British Gas Homecare ”

I have been a customer using the British Gas Homecare Service plan for over 40 years. In the very early days the serine offered was excellent and reliable. The annual service call could be arranged at anytime of the year and breakdown occurred then a call before noon would result in a service visit that day, and did not result in an increase in your premium the following year. I am a tenant who is still being harassed by this absolutely amateurish company for the last 7 years for some unpaid bills by a previous tenant. In the last 7 years I have received over a hundred letters in the old tenants name which I send back by return to sender but they have absolutely no process at their end to fix still. “Just use Britsh Gas”

I recently had British Gas install a new boiler for me. The installation went well. A week later we had no hot water. BG sent round an engineer who fiddled with a few things and the hot water was working again. About three hours later we had water poring into our lounge. Called the engineer out again. “Why are my estimations always so high?”

I moved into my new property in February 2013. British Gas supplied both Gas & Electric to my property. There was a phone call from British Gas introducing me to a Home Care Cover. As I had this service for my last property, I therefore agreed to it.
