“Dangerous and Incompetent”

Boiler cuts out, have Homecare with BG. After 3 attempts to fix, still cuts out. Next Carbon Monoxide alarms goes off as boiler now leaking after last visit. National Grid have to disable boiiler and gas supply. Arrange another visit from BG and ask to ensure they have all parts and know history/details. No show by 6pm. Call BG who assure that engineer on way but late. No show so call again. Now they say is booked for next day - not what was booked or confirmed earlier. So re-book for first… Read Full Review

First of all I would like to say how good it is to see a genuine review site. Trust pilot put fake reviews on theirs for British Gas. Secondly, to anyone thinking about joining BG DO NOT DO IT! “Really bad customer service ”

Our boiler hadn't been working for a few days, so I called British gas and they sent an engineer who was ignorant and stuck up. He didn't even know what he was doing, even with the manual he had no idea. I would never recommend this company… Read Full Review

After Three! Engineers called out on a new boiler non fixed the prob. Leak and the Noise was terrible! stressed out they sent the fourth Engineer! “British Gas Homecare ”

I have been a customer using the British Gas Homecare Service plan for over 40 years. In the very early days the serine offered was excellent and reliable. The annual service call could be arranged at anytime of the year and breakdown occurred then a call before noon would result in a service visit that day, and did not result in an increase in your premium the following year. I am a tenant who is still being harassed by this absolutely amateurish company for the last 7 years for some unpaid bills by a previous tenant. In the last 7 years I have received over a hundred letters in the old tenants name which I send back by return to sender but they have absolutely no process at their end to fix still. “Just use Britsh Gas”

I recently had British Gas install a new boiler for me. The installation went well. A week later we had no hot water. BG sent round an engineer who fiddled with a few things and the hot water was working again. About three hours later we had water poring into our lounge. Called the engineer out again. A radiator had burst upstairs. BG said it was not their fault but fixed the radiator. But left a big hole in the partition wall and the carpet in the bedroom was ruined. “Why are my estimations always so high?”

I moved into my new property in February 2013. British Gas supplied both Gas & Electric to my property. There was a phone call from British Gas introducing me to a Home Care Cover. As I had this service for my last property, I therefore agreed to it. Then the British Gas engineer came to check the property and as this was a new property the service was available to me if I was to take a year contract. Over the past 3 years I've encountered problems with BG raising my direct debit amount when I am clearly substantially in credit! Even when I phone to complain, I'm told there are no managers available and that they will amend it and then do nothing!! “Nightmare Boiler Installation”

A two day job turned in to a five day job, because old boiler was removed before new one arrived. Boiler now keeps tripping and have been told that Electrician did not fit an essential bit of wiring from the boiler to the thermostat, as he did not know!! Spoke to Manager who informed me that this wiring must be done for every new boiler, which makes me believe that staff have not been trained properly. “Final direct debit a year and a half late!!”

“absolute amateurish company”

firstly, I had homecare with british gas, several times I had them out, not once did they notice the external downpipe was wrongly positioned. they were suppose to "maintain" my boiler. my house was built circa 2004, so boiler around 10 years old, suddenly my boiler starts leaking, BG "engineer/salesman" came out, had a look around and quoted £1400 for new boiler PLUS labour and parts (remember im on highest homecare), asked about paying up over 5 years, came out at £72 per month for 5 years… Read Full Review

“NEVER EVER CHOOSE BRITISH GAS PLEASE”

Where to start? Called up in May as a brand new customer. At some point in time my flat was offices - I was ASSURED over telephone that this would be switched to domestic. Since then have been bombarded with letters, emails, texts. Have submitted meter readings which have gone astray in exchange for astronomical estimates. I had the misfortune of losing power to my electricity meter and phoned British Gas and they gave me the next available appointment. They sent a brilliant meter replacement engineer and they had the job done and fixed promptly and phones the national grid to get something else done the very same hour! “Good people to service our boiler”

Moved into a new house and the boiler was recent but not working. To take on a contract the boiler has to be working, the guy was very honest and helpful and explained all this and what we needed to do. Anyhow I got the boiler working and also fitted some co detectors as was suggested. They then came to take on contract, gave us a clean bill of health. I have to say they seem pretty good to me. I purchased dual fuel from British Gas. Honestly, with the competitive prices offered by other energy companies and the more active role government is playing in monitoring fuel prices, the main thing I look for now is customer service. Problem 1: When my prepayment meter also British Gas in a new property was changed to monthly meter there was an extra £5 left in the prepaid card which British Gas failed to reimburse despite making repeated promises.
